Chapter 86 Chu Xun Comes to Deliver Flowers (2/2)

"These flowers are so beautiful." Huang Xinrui held the bouquet of peonies and praised them repeatedly. "Deputy Commander Chu came so late to deliver flowers. It's a very thoughtful and generous gesture."

"Don't break it," Li Xiyue reminded her.

Huang Xinrui smiled like an aunt, "You care that much?"

"That's what I use for medicine."

Huang Xinrui's smile froze. Well, she had been overthinking it.

The next day, as the work horn sounded, the quiet mountain village quickly came alive, and a rosy glow appeared in the east, indicating that it would be a sunny and pleasant day.

At the morning meeting, Xu Guoqiang delivered a series of inspiring leadership quotes, which energized the members, who started working with great enthusiasm.

The rice planting was completed yesterday, so Li Xiyue doesn't need to go to the fields today; she's been assigned to plant peanuts in dry land.

Part of the dry land in Xujia Village is in the mountains. It should be wasteland that was reclaimed in the past. It is like a ladder, layer upon layer, backed by mountains, with a stream in the middle, and mountains on the opposite side. There is also land on the edge of the mountains.

Li Xiyue worked with Gao Qingqing, Su Guixiang's daughter-in-law, to plant peanuts. Gao Qingqing dug holes, and Li Xiyue put in the seeds. They needed to plant the entire hillside today.

Li Xiyue counted and found there were ten plots of land in total, and five of them had to be planted in the morning.

With a heavy workload and many tasks, Li Xiyue dared not slack off. Carrying a bag of urea containing peanut seeds, she carefully placed the seeds into each pit.

About three or four seeds are placed in each pit. After she put in the seeds, other members of the commune followed and put in fertilizer. There was relatively little chemical fertilizer; most of it was used on the rice paddies. Farmyard manure or wood ash was used in the fields.

After the fertilizer was placed, some commune members filled the pit behind it.

A group of four can work together quickly.

The work was simple, but the repetitive nature of it was a bit tedious. After planting three plots of land, Gao Qingqing suggested taking a break, and the four of them stopped to drink water and rest.

"Sister-in-law, how is Tie Tou?" Li Xiyue asked, sitting on an empty urea bag and taking a sip of spiritual spring water from her military water bottle.

Gao Qingqing wiped the sweat from her brow and said with a smile, "It's alright now. We told him that the bad guy who harmed him has been arrested by the police, and he's not so scared anymore. He hasn't had a fever in the past two days, but he still has nightmares once or twice."

"The child is still young and doesn't remember things. In a few days, he'll forget about it and everything will be fine." Li Xiyue was relieved.

Gao Qingqing nodded, "Thanks to you for telling us the truth, otherwise we would still be in the dark and treating our enemies as our benefactors."

"As long as the child is alright, that's all that matters." Li Xiyue took another sip of water, feeling all her fatigue disappear, and then asked, "Tietou is still so young, how come he was alone by the river that day?"

"Ugh, it's all because of Tie Tou's dad. He took him to the river to catch fish that day and forgot to bring the net. He thought he'd go back home and asked Tie Tou to wait by the river. He thought it wouldn't be a problem since it wasn't far from home," Gao Qingqing complained.

"You can't do that again next time. The child is still young and doesn't understand. Even if there are no bad people, he's afraid he'll fall."

Many misfortunes are caused by being too careless.

Gao Qingqing nodded, "Mom and Dad scolded him, but he promised he wouldn't do it again."

"Ah! A snake!"

"Help! Daqiang has been bitten by a snake!"

Suddenly, a commotion arose from the opposite hilltop.

Upon hearing this, Li Xiyue shouted across the street, "Don't touch him, I'm coming right away."

I don't know what kind of snake bit her. If it was a five-step snake, she would have been dead before she even got there.

After she finished speaking, she quickly went down the mountain and ran to the other side.

When she reached the injured man, she saw that his face was pale and his eyes were lifeless. There were two sharp teeth marks on his ankle, which were obviously from a venomous snake bite. She asked urgently, "Did you see what kind of venomous snake it was?"
