Chapter 264: A Battle of Clever People

Kong Yingzhe looked at his watch for the sixth time. According to the meeting progress, the bidding work was nearing completion.

He became more and more nervous, and finally he gritted his teeth, stood up, and went straight to the ticket window.

He couldn't just sit there and wait for death. He had to leave Beijing immediately. Without Qin Zhiheng's support, the journey would only be more difficult. Kong Yingzhe believed that his own brain was enough to handle it.

“Get out of the way!”

Suddenly, several tall and strong men appeared in the crowd, pushing away the crowded people rudely, as if they were looking for something.

Kong Yingzhe cursed inwardly, Qin Zhiheng is a waste!

Without thinking twice, he pulled his hat down to cover his entire face, and took advantage of the crowd to quickly squeeze onto a bus that was about to depart.

"Hey, comrade, where's your ticket? You're not allowed on the bus without one!"

"I can buy a new ticket. I have something urgent to do and don't have time to queue." Kong Yingzhe took out enough money from his pocket to buy ten tickets and stuffed it into the driver's hand. "Let me get on the bus first."

"No matter how urgent it is, you can't break the rules. Do you think I'm a minibus? I only care about tickets, not money. Get out!"

Unfortunately, Kong Yingzhe ran into a stubborn driver, and the two had an argument. He could only speak pitifully:

"My mother has passed away. If I don't go home now, I won't be able to attend the funeral. Master, please have pity on me and let me go!"

After hearing this, the driver couldn't refuse, but he didn't agree outright. The passengers in the car helped him and said, "Let the young man get in. Death is the greatest thing!"

"I bought an extra ticket because I was afraid the child would make a fuss. Comrade, please sit in my son's seat!"

"He's so pitiful at such a young age. Master, please don't stop him. We all agree that he can get on the bus!"

Kong Yingzhe was slightly stunned. Looking at the people in the carriage who were speaking enthusiastically, his heart felt as if it was being pierced by thousands of needles.

If they knew that he was a spy who had harmed the interests of the country and even lied to escape, would they still speak up for him?

His compatriots are so kind, is his behavior really worthy of the country?

Kong Yingzhe was in a state of confusion for a moment, but because of the driver's previous obstruction, the pursuers behind him had already discovered him and were crowding towards the front of the car. He didn't care about anything else, so he whispered his thanks and urged the driver to drive.

The car started, and Kong Yingzhe looked at the strong men passing by outside the window and slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

He glanced at the station sign inside the carriage: Shanggang County.

The village is the farthest from Beijing, and even if you drive a car, it will take a day and a night to catch up.

As the bus left Beijing, Kong Yingzhe got off at the first stop, tightly grasping the handle of his briefcase, and resolutely walked towards the dirt road in the countryside. Before he had taken a few steps, he was blocked by the person in front of him.

"Qin Zhiheng."

He gritted his teeth and said, "How the hell do you do this? Why is there no one to help me? They are desperate. Don't they know that I could die at any moment?"

"Good fortune and misfortune come from within, but are brought upon oneself. From the moment you betrayed your country, you were doomed to die."

Qin Zhiheng was calm and composed, as if he had guessed Kong Yingzhe's plan and always walked ahead of him. Kong Yingzhe was not a fool either. He already knew that Qin Zhiheng would not let him go either.

Looking at the pond on the side, Kong Yingzhe wanted to give it another try, but Qin Zhiheng's voice was faster than his thoughts:

"If you, or the data, falls into the water, I will give them all your information."

"Including your sister."

"You can't do this!" Kong Yingzhe's pupils shrank to the size of a needle tip. He didn't have time to think about why Qin Zhiheng knew about his sister's affairs. He roared like a trapped beast: "She knows nothing. This has nothing to do with her!"

Qin Zhiheng's investigation of Kong Yingzhe exceeded everyone's expectations. There was indeed no evidence in his dormitory, but Qin Zhiheng found a stack of donation receipts.

The receipts were very scattered, and Kong Yingzhe had donation records for all kinds of welfare homes and orphanages.

At first glance, there seemed to be no problem, but when Qin Zhiheng called one by one to inquire, he found out that these places had all taken in the same little girl. Every time she was adopted, she would run away and then be sent to a new orphanage by the police.

Qin Zhiheng made a bold assumption, but as soon as he mentioned it, Kong Yingzhe's reaction told him all the answers.

"Are you cheating me?"

"According to Country Z's laws, your actions are punishable by life imprisonment. Cooperating with me counts as surrender."

When Kong Yingzhe wrote that letter, he thought he had taken both sides into consideration and given himself a glimmer of hope, but he didn't expect that neither side cared about him, a small figure.

There is no other way but to accept it.

"I plead guilty. What do you want to know?"

"No need, just go where you should go and lead them out for us." Qin Zhiheng stretched out his hand, and Kong Yingzhe handed the bag over resignedly, his lips moving:

"Will you keep me safe?"

"As long as you cooperate, I guarantee you won't die."

As for physical pain, it is definitely inevitable.

Kong Yingzhe turned back resignedly, but just as he stepped into Shanggang County, he was knocked unconscious and stuffed into a car.

When he opened his eyes again, the entire organization was in an unprecedented panic. Every landline phone was ringing sharply, and Gao Zhan was sweating profusely as he shuttled between them, constantly switching between different languages, mostly apologizing.

“FUCK!”

Gao Zhan angrily threw the receiver to the ground and pointed at the two people in the corner, "Go burn the materials quickly, don't leave anything behind!"

He then looked at Kong Yingzhe who had been caught and grabbed his collar.

"You useless idiot! You were fooled by Qin Zhiheng and Yu You, and now you've fooled all of us!"

"Ahem, I've already reminded you to give up your bid."

Kong Yingzhe's throat was stuck by his collar and he was breathing with great difficulty.

Gao Zhan took out a pistol with bloodshot eyes and put the black muzzle against Kong Yingzhe's head.

"What difference does it make whether we give up or not? Country Z abstained, and everyone thought we gave out fake information!"

"But as long as you win the bid, there will still be profit."

"Bullshit! Those idiots thought the profits were too low and protested en masse to sabotage the bidding. But then a company called Wuyou submitted a bid and won the project without any competition! That Wuyou company is owned by Yu You!"

Yu You and Qin Zhiheng.

Kong Yingzhe suddenly laughed out loud. The couple was really good at scheming.

"What are you laughing at?! I'll kill you!"

"I laugh because none of us can escape!"

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a loud bang from the solid door.

"Don't move, squat down with your hands on your head!"

"Don't move, get down, and surrender your weapons!"

The entire underground organization was in a state of panic and was still dealing with questioning from above, but they didn't expect that Kong Yingzhe used himself as bait to lure the Z country army to destroy their lair!

Gao Zhan's face was ferocious and he pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Even if he dies, he will drag the traitor Kong Yingzhe to be buried with him!
