Chapter 30: Dinner

They didn't expect that the Qin family was also there.

The Qin family was a relocated family, and the villagers were superstitious about them and rarely visited them.

Yu You married into the Qin family. The Yu family and the Qin family are in-laws, so it is normal for the two families to be close.

But I didn't expect that the two families were so close.

The village leaders were more experienced and knew that these families were capable people in the past, so they were naturally not so repulsive.

Li Yongde, the oldest, said, "Brother Qin Wei, you're here early? There are so many people here today, it's lively. Since Wei Min is treating us, we won't be polite."

Feng Guilan and a few others wanted to go and help Cao Xiu, but Cao Xiu didn't stop them and asked them to help cut vegetables and light the fire.

Feng Guilan's hands were shaking a little when she was cutting vegetables.

"Girl, am I seeing this right? These are leeks? Why are there leeks in this month?"

Cao Xiu pointed at Yu Rou.

"Not only leeks, look at what my Xiaorou washed, there are also coriander, celery, and spinach. You have to eat more today."

Qian Fenggai was carefully washing the meat. It was top-quality pork belly, with a good balance of fat and lean, and two large strips weighed about four pounds.

When did Yu Weimin's family become so well off?

He Chunmei was burning a fire, but her eyes couldn't help but look around.

There are vegetables, eggs, meat, white rice and white flour. The more I look at these foods, the more frightened I become.

"Aunt Yu, am I seeing things? Why are there so many foods?" She had never seen so many delicious foods in her life.

"I, your aunt, have made some money selling cakes these days. Besides, this is a treat, so of course I have to prepare something good. Don't be polite and eat as much as you can."

When the food was served, Qin Zhiheng returned with Qin Zhidong.

His father-in-law was having a dinner party, so he took his younger brother to buy some wine.

Guo Min exclaimed, "Wow, this is top-notch Wuliangye! It's only 2.5 yuan a bottle at the supply and marketing cooperative!"

The important thing is that you need a ticket, and Qin Zhiheng got two bottles at once.

Li Yongde and Zhao Qianjin looked at each other.

How come the Yu and Qin families are suddenly doing so well? It seems they had underestimated these two families before!

Yu You's eyes flashed. She had to work hard to make money. The Wuliangye and Moutai of the 1970s were beckoning to her.

She bought a batch and stored them in the space, which was a perfect win!

Soon, everyone was seated.

The men sat at one table, the women at another. The dishes on the tables were identical, but the men's table had two more bottles of wine.

Feng Guilan said embarrassedly, "Why did you set up a table just for us?"

When villagers invite people to dinner, men usually sit at the table while women and children eat in the kitchen or wait until the men leave the table before eating.

Cao Xiu smiled.

"Sister-in-law, you're out of touch with the times. Women hold up half the sky these days, so why don't we have a place at the table?"

Yu Weimin said seriously: "My wife is right. Men and women are equal."

"Besides, men only do the work. Women not only work, but also have to take care of the household, which is much more tiring than men. How much happiness can they enjoy with us? Not to mention sitting at the table, it wouldn't be too much to sit at the head of the table."

The couple announced a few words and Cao Xiu greeted everyone.

"Sisters-in-law, Chunmei, please sit down! Let's eat our food and let their men drink theirs."

"Grandma, you are the oldest, so you should sit in the main seat and eat peacefully. Put An'an and Ningning next to me so that I can enjoy them."

Grandma Qin asked politely, "Where are your grandparents? Why aren't they at the table?"

"Grandpa and grandma are old, and entertaining guests is a bit tiring. They are in the west room now, and the food has been sent over."

On the table were pork stewed with potatoes, stir-fried pork with celery, stir-fried pork with chili peppers, scrambled eggs with chives, and a bowl of spinach and egg dumpling soup. A bowl of snow-white rice was placed on each table.

Zhao Qianjin swallowed hard, almost unable to hold his chopsticks steady. "Wei Min, where did all this come from?"

Yu Yuan was extremely excited and answered first, "Uncle Zhao, this is what my father planted on his private plot. It's all grown well and will be ready for spring. My mother bought the meat with her money."

Yu Yuan hadn't expected his dad to be successful. He was now his dad's little fanboy. His dad said he could do it in the future, so he told him and Aunt Qin to learn some culture first.

Li Yongde was surprised. "You said they're still growing and they're still planting. But it's snowing now, so they didn't freeze to death?"

Yu Yuan continued, "My dad bought some plastic wrap to cover them. Not only did my family's seeds survive, but my second sister's family, Uncle Zhou's family, and Grandpa Zheng's family all planted quite a few, and they're growing well."

Zhao Qianjin stood up.

"You said your father took all four of you to grow vegetables in your own plots, and they're all alive. Come on, take me to see it!"

Li Yongde and Guo Min also stood up, eager to go and see. Farming in winter is so new!

Yu Weimin stopped him.

"Why rush? The vegetables are growing in the ground and they won't run away. Let's eat first and then check after we finish eating, otherwise these delicious dishes will get cold."

Qin Zhiheng stood up and poured wine for the elders.

Cao Xiu's cooking skills were comparable to those of a master chef. He swallowed the food without even chewing it, and everyone was eating enthusiastically.

Zhao Qianjin asked, "Tell me, why can't these vegetables be frozen to death?"

Yu Weimin certainly knows a lot of theories, but if I explain it in too much detail, I'm afraid he won't be able to understand.

He explained it simply: "It's like covering yourself with a blanket when you're cold in winter. You just need to find a way to keep warm."

Qin Wei and Qin Zhiheng, father and son, are not so easy to fool.

Both of them had previously held high positions, were highly educated, and had broad knowledge.

We also know about glass greenhouses and glass greenhouses.

But how many people can think of using plastic sheeting to replace glass?

The father and son listened quietly without saying anything.
