Chapter 67 This Damn Fate

Ye Qingxue suddenly looked down and found that the person holding her wrist was Yun Zhuo.

His palms were covered with dense scars, and his fingertips had thin calluses. When he held her wrist, it felt like she was being bound by a vine. The touch was rough, but the strength was powerful, and her wrist instantly turned red.

It turns out he was always conscious and knew what he was about to face.

In Ye Qingxue's limited life, she had never heard of anyone cutting open their head to treat an injury, and Yun Zhuo must have done the same.

Only when Xiao Bao pinpointed the exact location of the blood clot, and happened to encounter the divine physician Xiang Si Zi, was there a way to open his brain to treat the injury.

If it were any other doctor, they probably wouldn't have had the courage to do so, and might even have directly told them to prepare for Yun Zhuo's funeral.

For Xiang Si Zi, it was the first time someone had opened her mind, but for Yun Zhuo, it was also the first time someone had opened her mind.

Who knew if he would survive after his brain was opened and the blood clot was removed? So many people died protecting him, and he had so many grudges to avenge!

Xiangsizi comforted him, "It will be very soon. I guarantee that with one stroke, your head will be cut open."

Ye Qingxue pursed her lips. This attempt at comfort was worse than no comfort at all. Was the person afraid of being slow? They were afraid of having their brains cut open!

Some people would rather die than have their bodies cut into pieces, let alone now, even if he were cut into pieces, he might not survive.

Yun Zhuo gripped her hand even tighter, and Xiang Si Zi said, "Miss, control him. I'm about to begin. The longer we delay, the more dangerous it will be."

Ye Qingxue took a deep breath, said "okay," and then pressed his hand down on the edge of the bed, preventing him from moving.

Yun Zhuo struggled briefly, then suddenly fell silent, only managing to utter a single, uttered cry: "Seven!"

His voice was very hoarse and low, almost inaudible. Ye Qingxue asked in confusion, "Seven?"

Before she could finish speaking, two wolves, one white and one gray, rushed in from outside. The white wolf pounced at her feet, waiting for her command.

The gray wolf jumped onto the bed, protecting Yun Zhuo, and placed its paw in Yun Zhuo's hand. Yun Zhuo grasped its paw, and his tense body slowly relaxed, releasing Ye Qingxue's hand as well.

Ye Qingxue stared at the scene before her, speechless for a long while. Then, as if remembering something, she called out tentatively and with difficulty, "Seven?"

Two wolves, one white and one gray, looked up at her at the same time.

Xiangsi Zi asked in confusion, "Aren't you two a couple? Why do you give your pets the same name? How do you tell them apart when you only want to call one of the wolves?"

"We're not husband and wife, and we're not even close!" Ye Qingxue said unhappily, and then stood up abruptly.

When she learned that Yun Zhuo also kept a wolf as a pet, she thought it was too much of a coincidence. But now it's even more of a coincidence that their pets are both named "Qi Zai"!

Xiang Si Zi was even more puzzled: "I heard this young master call the young lady 'mother' and this gentleman 'father,' and the young lady was so anxious about the gentleman's life and death. I thought you were a couple."

Ye Qingxue sneered: "Sir, do you think I, at my age, could possibly have a child this big?"

Xiang Si Zi's gaze swept back and forth between Ye Qingxue and Xiao Bao. She quickly gave an awkward smile and said, "I'm sorry, I was focused on the injured person's condition and didn't think about the age issue. I just made a preconceived notion based on how the young master addressed the young lady."

Ye Qingxue said, "Since Qizai is here watching over him, I will go outside to keep watch. I'll trouble the divine doctor to quickly cut open his brain and remove the blood clots inside."

When Ye Qingxue rescued Yun Zhuo, she only thought that one day she would use him as her weapon to uproot Prince Ding, the Empress, and the forces behind them.

After her death, she sought revenge for those from her past life.

However, she strongly disliked that Xiaobao called her "Mother" while addressing Yunzhuo as "Father," and naturally she also disliked others treating her and Yunzhuo as husband and wife.

Now that she knows their pets are the same and have the same name, she feels even more uncomfortable, which reminds her of all the humiliations she suffered at Yun Zhuo's hands in her past life.

She knew that Yun Zhuo was also a victim, but Yun Zhuo's subsequent act of killing Prince Ding and the Empress made her realize that Yun Zhuo could have resisted at the time, but he did not, and instead used a counter-strategy.

In other words, she was first used by Prince Ding and Ye Yabing, and then by Yun Zhuo, and died in such a humiliating way!

She had no reason to hate Yun Zhuo, and of course she didn't hate Yun Zhuo, but she loathed the various coincidences that forced her to be bound to Yun Zhuo by fate, as if they were destined to be intertwined.

It wasn't that she hated her innate destiny, but the humiliation of her past life made her not want to have any innate destiny with Yun Zhuo; it would only make her feel pathetic and ridiculous.

Just like how she and Madam Zhou got along like enemies, but they were mother and daughter, and she was the one who gave her life, yet she was left battered and bruised!

"Hiss—" The faint sound of a sharp knife cutting through skin interrupted Ye Qingxue's thoughts. She looked in the direction of the sound and saw that Xiangsizi had already cut open the skin on the back of Yun Zhuo's head.

Xiao Bao helped quietly from the side, calm and composed, unlike a five-year-old child.

Yun Zhuo gripped the gray Seven's claws tightly, lying motionless on the bed. He seemed to be holding his breath, his whole body tense.

The small house fell silent instantly, filled with the stench of blood. So much so that Ye Qingxue heard footsteps entering the front hall in that instant.

Her ears twitched; she could tell that there was more than one person outside.

Chunqian's voice came urgently from outside: "Chunqian greets the old lady. Miss is resting in her room. This servant will go and ask her to come out right away!"
