Chapter 65 Unexpected Changes

As Wei Shuwan was lost in thought, she heard a series of hurried footsteps outside the door. Looking up, she saw Wei Shuyao rushing in, her expression panicked.

"Third sister, I heard you fell off a cliff, is that true?"

Wei Shuwan replied listlessly, "If falling from Qixiu Mountain counts as a fall off a cliff, then it's true."

"Then, are you alright?" Wei Shuyao sat down uninvited and carefully examined Wei Shuwan in front of the bed. However, Wei Shuwan was wrapped in a quilt, so it was impossible to tell where she was injured.

"I'm fine, but what about Fourth Sister? Wasn't she arrested by His Highness the Crown Prince on charges of being an assassin? Why was she released?"

Wei Shuyao looked slightly embarrassed, pursed her lips, and turned her face away: "I'm not a real assassin!"

"I just overheard some things I shouldn't have..." Her voice trailed off, hesitant as she spoke.

Wei Shuwan noticed her hesitation and tentatively asked, "Shouldn't you have heard something? Did you overhear some palace secret?"

"Not really..."

"What is that?" Wei Shuwan leaned forward to scrutinize her expression.

“Yes…” Wei Shuyao hesitated for a long time, but finally swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue and said resolutely, “I can’t say.”

She decided to go back and tell her mother and grandmother first, and then decide whether or not to inform the second branch of the family.

Wei Shuwan suppressed her curiosity and said nonchalantly, "It's better if Fourth Sister doesn't tell. Some dangers arise from knowing too much; telling one more person might just implicate another."

Upon hearing this, Wei Shuyao's resolve wavered instantly. Wei Shuwan's words made sense; she couldn't keep this secret to herself! It was better to implicate Wei Shuwan than to implicate her parents and grandmother.

"Third sister, I'll tell you! I overheard His Highness the Crown Prince confessing his feelings to someone!"

Seeing her attitude change so easily, Wei Shuwan wanted to laugh, but then she was surprised by the news and stopped laughing, looking at Wei Shuyao seriously: "So, His Highness the Crown Prince already has a suitable candidate for Crown Princess in mind?"

As she asked the question, Wei Shuwan felt something was amiss.

She thought back carefully. In the five years she was married in her previous life, Zhu Haogan had not chosen a crown princess, nor had she heard any rumors about it. It was as if Zhu Haogan was born to focus solely on politics and was completely ignorant of matters of love and relationships.

She couldn't help but ask again, "Who is that girl?"

Wei Shuyao frowned as she looked at her, and said with difficulty, "Sheng Yun."

Wei Shuwan's peach blossom eyes widened suddenly. "Who?"

“Sheng Yun! Ah Xiu’s Yun sister!” Mentioning this matter, Wei Shuyao couldn’t suppress her worry and irritability.

Once she was sure she hadn't misheard, Wei Shuwan fell silent.

Sheng Yun was well aware of the relationship between A Xiu and Sheng Yun; it was a relationship that even the Heavenly King himself couldn't interfere with. However, if the Crown Prince intervened, Sheng Yun would inevitably have to postpone the marriage in order to protect A Xiu. If she married before the Crown Prince had forgiven her, it would undoubtedly bring great trouble to A Xiu and even the entire Wei family.

No wonder Zhu Haogan didn't establish a crown princess for so long in his previous life, and Ah Xiu didn't marry Sheng Yun for so long either.

"Third sister, tell me, what should we do about this? Are we just going to let His Highness the Crown Prince harbor resentment towards Ah Xiu and even the entire Wei family?"

Wei Shuyao was flustered, but she quickly came up with a solution: "Why don't you go back and persuade that silly boy, Ah Xiu, to give up on Sheng Yun?"

"Impossible!" Wei Shuwan said firmly and resolutely.

Her two greatest regrets in her past life were marrying the wrong person and not being able to see her younger brother, Ah Xiu, get married. In this life, she will not choose the wrong path again, and she will never let Ah Xiu and the girl he loves ruin their relationship, even if the other party is the Crown Prince.

However, Wei Shuwan hadn't figured out how to deal with the many challenges ahead, and the two of them fell silent.

Before long, the Imperial Medical Bureau sent someone to deliver the prepared medicine. Wei Shuwan drank it while it was still hot and rested on the couch for half an hour. When she woke up, she felt much better and her hands were no longer trembling. She went to the room next door belonging to Princess Yun'an to thank the imperial physician who was in charge of looking after them and prepared to take her leave of the palace.

Perhaps the noise disturbed Princess Yun'an, who was still fast asleep on the bed. Princess Yun'an woke up, and the first thing she said upon opening her eyes was, "Young Prince, save me..."

Her memory was still stuck in the icy lake when she saw Li Qingchen swimming towards her, and she desperately cried for help! After choking on several mouthfuls of water, her head became dizzy, and she couldn't remember anything after that. She didn't even remember that Li Qingchen had bypassed her to save Wei Shuwan first, something that should have infuriated her.

The imperial physicians and maids rushed forward to serve her. Princess Yun'an stared at the roof for a while before belatedly turning her head and seeing Wei Shuwan there as well.

"You...you're not dead?"

Wei Shuwan could tell from Yun An's tone that she was deeply disappointed, but she didn't care about it at the moment and just casually replied, "Thanks to the young prince."

Yun An, who had been looking somewhat dazed, became displeased when she heard Wei Shuwan call her "Little Prince." "How dare you call me Little Prince?"

"Then what should I call you? Should I address you by your full name? I dare not."

"you!"

Enraged by Wei Shuwan's sharp tongue, Yun An coughed a few times, and her maidservant hurriedly poured water and patted her back. Seeing that the two sides were so at odds, and fearing that further commotion would only lead to more trouble, the imperial physician said to Wei Shuwan in a gentle tone, "Miss Wei, if you feel that you are not seriously ill, you may return to your residence to rest. I have already prepared the remaining medicine for you for the next few days. Just follow the prescription to decoct it."

"Thank you for your trouble, Imperial Physician. I will now leave the palace." Wei Shuwan bowed to the Imperial Physician and then withdrew.
