Chapter 7
Lin En lay on the ground for more than ten minutes before he barely caught his breath and climbed up.
He was exhausted, his hands on the ground, his body trembling slightly, but he finally recovered some strength and began to sort out the current situation.
He knew that the reason he was lucky enough to survive was because he tried his best.
In order to ensure that the "Shin-Shaking Technique" was effective enough, he used up all his mental strength in one breath, and the subsequent continuous attacks were even more intense.
The excessive use of mental power made his brain feel like it was being hammered, and waves of tingling pain came over him.
Lin En touched his forehead and closed his eyes for a while, making sure that apart from the severe pain in his head, his body was not seriously injured.
Although he was desperately thrown away by the blond boy just now, he was lucky enough to avoid the opponent's final counterattack after rolling a few times, and there were no fatal injuries on his body.
The only damage was to his hands.
While holding the bone spur and attacking frantically, he used too much force and his palm was accidentally cut by the tough bone spur. Although the wound was not deep, the burning pain still reminded him of the life-and-death battle he had just experienced.
Lin En looked down at his bloody hands, a bitter smile appeared on the corners of his mouth, and he murmured, "It was intentional... but it was still so hard to win..."
At this moment, he felt both grateful for surviving the disaster and a sense of deep fatigue.
Even with a detailed plan, one still cannot escape an embarrassing outcome.
However, no matter how thrilling the process was, he survived in the end.
This was Lin En's first time killing someone, and he thought he would feel extremely uncomfortable and guilty, but at this moment he was surprisingly calm.
Perhaps it was because this was a life-and-death duel, or perhaps it was because the adrenaline in his body had not yet subsided and his nerves were numb, he did not feel any discomfort, but instead felt calmer and relieved.
"He who kills shall be killed... I am also avenging those who were killed by him."
Lynn murmured softly, looking up at the body of the blond boy with a cold gaze, then turned away without another glance.
After sitting there and resting for a while, Lin En confirmed that he was in good condition to walk. Then he picked up his ground rhinoceros and walked towards the agreed direction with slightly weak steps.
Lin En did not forget that this mission was ultimately an assessment.
He looked at the ground rhinoceros beside him, and understood in his heart:
The reason why the blond boy kept the ground rhinoceros with him was obviously because he had to take the prey to report to the wizard eventually.
Not long after, Lin En finally reached the entrance of the animal enclosure.
From a distance, he saw three figures standing at the entrance, one of whom was the scarred wizard, and the other two were two strong young men.
Lin En couldn't help but frown. These two people were most likely the blond boy's companions.
"Russell, what took you so long?"
One of the boys with a high nose bridge saw a figure in the distance and greeted him with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone.
But before he finished speaking, his expression froze.
Because the person walking towards them from a distance was not the blond boy Russell they were familiar with, but a strange face they had never seen before.
"If the Russell you're talking about is the blond guy, then he probably can't come."
Lin En dragged the rhinoceros and slowly approached. His eyes swept over the two teenagers and finally stopped on the scar-faced wizard.
He smiled slightly and spoke in a relaxed tone.
The two young men's pupils shrank slightly, and their hearts were filled with ripples.
Who is this guy in front of them? He was able to kill Russell in the beast circle and successfully walked out alive with the ground rhinoceros! However, before they had time to ask more questions, the scar-faced wizard spoke coldly:
"Yes, it is indeed the last one. You three have passed the test, follow me."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned and left without any hesitation.
When Lin En heard this, a heavy stone finally fell from his heart, but his face remained calm and he followed silently.
Although the other two teenagers were wary of Lin En, they still looked at each other and followed closely.
The furnace is very large and is divided into multiple areas, and the beast pen is only a corner of the furnace, a place specifically used to capture and raise magical beasts.
The living area for wizards and wizard apprentices is far away from the beast pen, located in the core area deeper in the furnace.
Lin En and the other two teenagers followed the scar-faced wizard along the winding road.
The scenery on both sides kept changing. At first, it was a barren land full of wild beasts, and gradually transitioned to a relatively flat area, as if entering another world.
The scar-faced wizard remained silent, walked steadily and quickly, and showed no interest in communicating with them.
Lynn and the other two teenagers also remained silent.
The three of them walked in silence, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing on the empty road.
Eventually, they were taken to an area with densely packed buildings.
This is the living area inside the furnace. Everywhere you look, you can see tall and short buildings and wide squares, and the people coming and going are quite diverse.
Lynn noticed that all of these people wore the same style of exquisitely tailored robes.
What was even more striking was that whenever they passed by, almost everyone would stop, bow and salute the scarred wizard who was leading the group, and give way on their own initiative, their actions full of respect and fear.
The latest novel is published first on Liu9shuba!
"This guy is indeed of high status..."
Lin En was secretly amazed in his heart and had another guess about the identity of the scarred wizard.
Amidst many greetings and stares, Lynn and two others were brought to a multi-story building in the center of the living area.
The building is magnificent, with its exterior walls engraved with intricate runes that faintly reveal mysterious fluctuations of power.
There was a reception desk at the entrance of the building, behind which sat a man looking through documents.
The man was wearing a well-cut wizard robe and had a capable air about him.
"Master Dray, welcome back!"
When the man saw the scarred wizard, he immediately put down the documents in his hand, stood up and saluted. Then he glanced at Lin En and the other two, and his tone was a little surprised:
"Is this the last batch of freshmen this year? There are only three of them?"
"Um."
The scarred wizard known as Dre nodded slightly and said in a cold tone, "I'll leave them to you, Colin. Finally, say hello to your teacher for me."
As soon as he finished speaking, he said no more, turned and left, leaving behind an indifferent back.
"Yes, sir."
The man called Colin nodded slightly, watched Dre leave, and then turned his gaze back to Lin En and the other two.
He looked them over for a moment, a proper smile on his face.
"You three, is there anywhere you want to go?"
Colin spoke gently.
Lin En was stunned and speechless for a moment.
He knew almost nothing about the interior of the furnace, so naturally he had no idea where to go.
Before he opened his mouth, the two teenagers behind him couldn't wait to answer.
"Lord Colin, I want to go to the Potions Department."
"Master Colin, I wish to join the Alchemy Department."
After hearing this, Colin nodded slightly and pointed to a wall not far away. On the wall hung an exquisite map with the distribution of various areas in the furnace marked on it.
"Okay, there's a map over there, go and report yourself."
Colin waved his hand and turned his gaze to Lin En, who was at the end. Seeing Lin En's bewildered expression, he said with a little surprise: "I didn't expect that after coming here for a few years, I would actually see a completely new person coming in..."
