Chapter Twenty-Six: The Gods' Bounty
“When will you make your move? I’d like to…” Vina asked.
However, before Vina could finish speaking, the other party replied rather rudely: "You don't need to know when to make a move. After all, you will definitely feel it when the time is right. Just adapt to the situation."
Vina's face turned grim. If she had known the timing of the battle in advance, she would have been able to prepare accordingly, avoiding being caught off guard in a panic.
However, she was sensible. Since they had said that, she wouldn't press the matter further.
"Okay, I wish you all the best." Vina bowed slightly to express her respect.
Seeing this, the mysterious woman's eyes showed admiration. "Vina, I think you're not far from the Gold level. You're quite a genius among the elves. After you escape Emerald Lake Island, or even leave the Sandy Mountains, would you be interested in joining my country?"
Vina pondered for a moment, then hesitated, but finally shook her head and refused: "I plan to contact the elven clans scattered in other places and seek refuge with them. Elves should stay with other elves."
"Alright." The other party was a little regretful. If they could accept a batch of Pokémon, it would be very profitable. If they could train and grow them in the future, the profits would definitely be even greater.
Eating elves raw, like the evil dragon Sophia, and treating them as food is really low-class and wasteful.
To be honest, if the timing and location hadn't been wrong, she would have forced Vina to submit.
Although this is very unethical, it's really nothing compared to the corresponding benefits.
"If these elves are still alive after I finish my business, then I'll invite them again," the mysterious woman resolved to herself.
“My esteemed lady, I will not disturb you any longer,” Vina said, bidding farewell.
The mysterious woman nodded: "Yes, goodbye. I also wish you a safe escape and the freedom your ancestors longed for."
Although it was just a polite remark, Vina still smiled.
The mysterious woman, watching Vina's receding figure, suddenly said loudly, "If nothing unexpected happens, we will take action tonight. Actually, we ourselves are not sure what time it will be."
Vina was taken aback for a moment upon hearing this. After two seconds, she quickly turned around, bowed again, and expressed her gratitude.
“Your Highness Elena, you shouldn’t have told them the approximate time of the operation.”
After Vina disappeared from sight, a middle-aged man behind the mysterious woman gave a somewhat annoyed reminder.
Elena didn't seem to care: "The other party is a clever elf. From our eagerness and our arrival, she can probably guess that we will take action soon. So, Master Thorin, it's okay if I'm exposed."
Another middle-aged man spoke up: "These are all minor matters, Brother Thorin, please don't worry about them. Elena is the princess of the kingdom. Even if the three of us brothers are pillars of the nation and extraordinary masters, we should still give her the respect she deserves."
Thorin sighed, "Philin, you're overthinking it. I have great respect for Her Highness and meant no offense. I'm just worried about something going wrong. Everyone should know how important this mission is. We can't afford to be careless, not even in the slightest. We must do everything we can to avoid any accidents."
Philin had to admit that Thorin was right, and he nodded: "That's true."
Elena also reflected on her actions: "This time, I was indeed wrong. Master Thorin did the right thing, and I will take this as a lesson in the future."
Thorin showed a pleased expression, as if to say that Elena was a promising young woman. It was truly remarkable that such a high-ranking and pampered person like Elena could have this kind of attitude.
“Your Highness, that strange, fiery red dragon in the elven tribe, though weak, has excellent skill in inscribing magic runes.”
Suddenly, a cheerful male voice interrupted Elena and the others' conversation.
Elena quickly turned her head to look at a man whose face she couldn't see clearly, but who was standing next to Philin and Thorin.
This man is called Delin, and he is the brother of Philin and Thorin. He is also a master.
“If he can make you look at him differently, then he must be quite something,” Elena said, turning her head to look in the direction of the Ship of Hope.
Although Loya was wearing the [Cloak of Invisibility], Elena still saw him easily.
For some reason, Elena suddenly laughed: "Hehe, if this guy wasn't so big and probably not young, I might have thought he was that legendary demigod wizard who was wanted by the gods."
Hearing this, the mysterious people present were all surprised.
About a week and a half ago, a major event occurred in this world that shook the highest levels of the supernatural.
Mystery + A legendary deity suddenly manifests a miracle, issuing a divine decree and offering a bounty on a demigod wizard who has just been reborn as a member of the dragon race with a divine artifact.
"Hahaha, how is this possible? Are we blessed by Lady Luck?" After a while, Phil couldn't help but burst into laughter.
“Yes, how could that be?” Thorin said helplessly. “That’s a legendary demigod wizard, a sacred figure closest to the gods. In some ways, even the gods can’t compare to him.”
Delin cracked his neck to loosen his muscles and said, "Although this dragon is skilled in magic runes just like that legendary demigod wizard, the divine prophecy clearly states that the demigod wizard was reincarnated as a member of the dragon race in the last half month. Half a month is too short; even for that demigod wizard, it's impossible for him to grow from a cub to this size, right? So, this is indeed a coincidence."
Elena and the others nodded in agreement, completely agreeing with Delin's explanation.
"I really don't know what that demigod wizard did to offend the great god. Even though he was killed, the great god still hasn't stopped. He actually took out a divine artifact as a bounty for capturing or destroying the demigod wizard's reincarnation. For this, he even went to great lengths to consult the god of divination to find out the demigod wizard's reincarnation information." Elena sighed, "Unfortunately, the demigod wizard is indeed related to the god. Even the god of divination can't easily find out his fate. The god of divination could only barely glean the vague information that the demigod wizard was reincarnated as a dragon in the last half month."
Delin added, "That's not all. I've also heard that the Dragon Emperor of the Dragon Clan is itching to make a move because of this."
Thorin frowned: "Every move of the gods causes a huge shock to the mortal world. I don't know if this is a blessing or a curse."
Philin cautioned, "Brother, the grudges of those big shots have nothing to do with small fry like us. Don't worry so much. Let's just watch the show and learn something. Let's think about how to deal with the evil dragon Sophia. This thing is a powerful monster among legendary-level beings. Even though the three of us brothers are all extraordinary masters and know combination techniques that can unleash legendary power, we're still in grave danger. I feel that if we're careless this time, or if we're unlucky, we brothers could very well suffer casualties, or even be wiped out."
Thorin's attention was diverted. Philin was right; the messy affairs of demigod wizards and gods shouldn't have much of an impact on them.
Upon hearing Philin's last words, Thorin instinctively shook his head: "Impossible, none of us brothers will die."
"We will win this battle."
"After this battle, we will return safely to the kingdom."
