Chapter 7: Poison Ivy

"New here, remember to keep your round badge safe. Otherwise, if you die in the botanical garden, no one will pick you up."

Taylor heard the warning from the botanical garden manager faintly in his ears. He turned his head to look at the increasingly smaller entrance to the botanical garden, then turned around and continued along a path to where the poison ivy tree was.

Both sides of the path were covered by thick white smoke. Taylor could only vaguely see some motionless tentacles flying in the sky, mysterious creatures as big as fists, and some tree roots and vines trying to spread into the path.

However, when these tree roots and vines were about to touch the pebbles on the side of the path, they quickly shrank back as if they were electrocuted, and a faint wailing sound could be heard.

Taylor couldn't help but squat down and study it carefully. He found that the two rows of round stones beside the path were engraved with tiny witchcraft runes. He could only vaguely make out the meaning of burns from the witchcraft runes.

Sure enough, in the wizard's world, traces of knowledge and witchcraft runes are everywhere.

Whoosh……

While Taylor was squatting on the ground studying the countless runes engraved on the stone, a large bird with a dog's head suddenly came from behind him and swooped down towards Taylor. The bird had drooling from the corners of its mouth and its eyes were red, filled with desire for food.

Plop! Just as the dog-headed bird was about to cross the long stone belt made of witchcraft runes, its eyes trembled, and it fell to the ground as if it had lost control of its body. It kicked its legs weakly, and then lost its spirit.

Taylor, with his back to the dog-headed bird, dispersed the fireball in his hand and turned to look at the strange creature that had suddenly died.

"As expected, as a passage to the botanical garden, how can we allow these non-human monsters to set foot on it?"

Although the dog-headed bird was only a few steps away from Taylor, Taylor had no intention of dragging the dog-headed bird's body back. Who knew if the bird was lying to him, or if there were other monsters coveting it in secret.

After taking a look, Taylor turned and left. He had to continue his mission.

Shortly after Taylor left, a thick root suddenly spread out from the ground, tied up the body of the dog-headed bird, and dragged the body into the ground to turn into nutrients.

If Taylor could see this scene now, he would probably only sigh that even in the White Wizard's botanical garden, there are dangers everywhere.

Following the instructions given by the botanical garden manager, Taylor quickly followed the path to a large tree covered with thorns and vines that were constantly dancing, like tentacles.

Looking at the clear liquid dripping from these sharp spikes, Taylor inexplicably wanted to study these venoms carefully, to see how toxic these transparent liquids were, how strong they were, how to reorganize them, and how to maximize the toxicity of the venom.

But now it is better to extract the juice and submit the task.

Taylor took out two long-tube instruments from the bag on his waist. There was a bottle connected to the bottom of each instrument. There were three scales on the bottle. One scale represented one portion of juice, and three scales would fill the entire bottle.

If this mission can be successfully completed, cooperation will allow you to collect four portions of juice, which can be exchanged for 32 points.

However, judging from the situation, it is estimated that it cannot be completed successfully.

When Taylor took out the two instruments, the strange tree in front of him, which was full of poisonous thorns and entangled with vines, seemed to come alive, constantly dancing its vines and trying to attack Taylor.

But considering the path under Taylor's feet, the vines just kept testing and even began to slowly retract, trying to show their honest attitude to seduce.

Taylor watched as one of the vines suddenly whipped a seemingly ordinary tree next to it, leaving a deep whip mark on the tree. He felt that if this whip hit him, he would be crippled if not killed.

He had seen with his own eyes how powerful the round stone engraved with countless runes was, but Taylor did not have much confidence in the badge in his hand.

After all, the White Wizard would not take human life lightly and deliberately send his apprentice to die.

With this thought in mind, Taylor first held his round badge in one hand and slowly stretched it out beyond the protection of the stone path.

When Taylor's right hand left the range, the vine seemed to come alive immediately. Sharp thorns suddenly grew on the vine and stabbed towards Taylor's right hand.

Taylor turned his wrist and showed his round badge. The vines covered with sharp thorns suddenly froze, as if in fear, and trembled slightly. After hesitating for a moment, the vines slowly retracted, but still hovered around Taylor's right hand.

“It really works.”

After he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, Taylor condensed a fireball with his left hand. Although his current magic power couldn't sustain the fireball for too long, it was still a deterrent to the poison ivy tree in front of him.

He took a step forward, holding the round badge in one hand and a small fireball in the other. Sure enough, after seeing the heat emitted by the round fireball, the vines moved a little further away from Taylor, but still tightly surrounded Taylor like poisonous snakes.

As soon as the round badge falls out of his hand, even if he has to endure the burns from the fireball, the poison ivy tree will strangle Taylor and turn his blood and the magic power in his body into its own food.

Taking a few steps forward, Taylor discovered that there were several special holes at the roots of the solitary vine tree. These holes matched the long-tube instrument hanging on his waist at first glance.

Now that he had found the place to extract the juice, Taylor dispersed the fireball with his left hand. When the fireball dissipated, the surrounding vines moved two inches closer to him. Due to the deterrence of the round badge, the poison ivy tree still did not dare to directly attack Taylor who was holding the badge.

Taylor poured the round badge into his left hand, turned it around himself, and pushed the poisonous vines back a distance. Then he immediately took out the long-tube instrument hanging around his waist with his right hand and inserted the head of the long tube into the special hole.

The instrument began to work immediately, and drop after drop of dark green liquid was guided into the container below through a long tube.

The poison ivy tree was showing extreme pain at this time, a pain that was visible to the naked eye. The whole tree began to tremble, and the vines kept flying wildly, trying to kill Taylor again and again, but still couldn't get close to him.

Taylor's heart was in his throat. He could only hold the round badge tightly in his hand, not daring to relax for a moment.

Drops of cold sweat gathered on his forehead. Less than 20 centimeters in front of him, the vines were like crazy, and the thorns attached to the vines passed by his eyes again and again.

An unknown amount of time had passed before the tubes connected to the two instruments stopped dripping. Looking at the dark green liquid inside, Taylor estimated that there were at most a little over two portions.

Reaching out to take back the instrument and holding it in his hand, Taylor slowly retreated step by step, holding up the round badge.

When his feet stepped on the path he had taken when he came here, Taylor felt his legs go weak and he almost sat down.

This was the first time he faced such a dangerous situation. Although he knew that the poison ivy tree would not attack him, he was indeed very nervous, especially when the poisonous thorns were floating in front of his face.
