Chapter 8 Submitting Tasks

In the past, many newly promoted first-level wizard apprentices had accepted this task. When they came back, most of them were in a dishevel or covered in dust. Some unlucky ones were even scratched by the thorns of poison ivy trees and had to exchange the points they earned from him for antidotes.

But now the little guy in front of him is unharmed. Although his limbs are a little weak, there is no doubt that he is one of the best new wizard apprentices he has seen recently.

"Submit the task."

Looking at Taylor handing over the instrument, the steward took the instrument and looked at the dark green liquid in the container under the instrument, wondering what he was thinking.

"That's 18 points in total."

In the end, the steward converted the extra juice from the two portions into two points and gave them to Taylor.

After taking back the instrument, the steward returned a white points record card with exquisite patterns printed on it to Taylor. This is the white points record card that every official wizard apprentice in the White Tower Alliance will have.

Recorded on it were the points of every wizard apprentice. As for powerful wizards, they had more advanced methods and naturally looked down on this kind of points recording card.

During the time when Taylor was an apprentice to a handyman, all he had was a points recorder that looked like a round coin. As long as the six-eyed owl in charge of supervising them did not find anything unusual, their points recorder would add an extra point every day as a reward for their work.

When he submitted the instrument, he also handed over his points recorder to the steward, who transferred the points in the recorder to the official points record card.

Taylor took the card. The witchcraft runes on the card were very complicated and Taylor could not understand them with his current knowledge, but he noticed a sentence written at the bottom of the card.

“When facing knowledge and truth, always maintain the attitude of a seeker.”

A seeker?

Taylor pondered over these words carefully, and the more he thought about them, the more he felt that these words contained rich philosophical truths.

Wizards are a group of people who are constantly pursuing knowledge.

One month later

As a botanical garden shared by the entire White Tower Alliance, although the poison ivy trees are on the outskirts of the botanical garden, there are indeed a lot of them. During this period of time, Taylor has been responsible for extracting the sap of the poison ivy trees and has accumulated a lot of points in just one month.

According to the directions given by the botanical garden manager, some holes on the trees could extract more juice, while others sometimes produced less than one. In this way, gradually, within a month, Taylor accumulated 240 points.

He risked his life to get these 240 points. Once, when he was extracting the juice, he was even hit twice by the poisonous thorns on the poison ivy vines. In total, he spent 40 points and exchanged them for two bottles of antidote.

The first time was because there were too many vines and several of them were waving in front of Taylor, causing him to be distracted and accidentally get pricked in the arm, almost falling down on the spot.

The second time was because the poison ivy tree was so cunning that it suddenly attacked where Taylor was standing. It was also Taylor's fault that he did not take out the round badge to sweep the surroundings at the beginning to drive away the vines and thorns.

He took on missions almost every day, and the high level of concentration required by long-term missions also made him tired, which led to these two accidents. So Taylor decided to take a good rest for two days to relieve the high mental pressure in his heart.

"I see you've been taking on a lot of missions lately. Did you really have an accident?"

It was also during this period that Taylor met Tutus, the manager of the Miscellaneous Affairs Department, and Gilly, the head of the Miscellaneous Affairs Department.

While mocking Taylor, Oak looked at Taylor's left arm, which was still wrapped in a thick white bandage.

"You were right this time, Oak. The road to truth is indeed full of thorns and dangers. That poison ivy tree is so cunning that it almost killed me with its poison!"

Looking at his left foot, Taylor shook his head. He wanted to take a break this time, not only because of the mental pressure, but also because his left foot was injured. If he continued to take on tasks, accidents might happen due to the inconvenience of his legs and feet.

Hearing Taylor's complaint, Oak raised his eyelids and said, "This is normal, normal. A first-level wizard apprentice only takes a mission once a week, unlike you who take it every day."

Hearing Oak's complaints mixed with a hint of concern, Taylor remained silent. He just wanted to accumulate more points so that he could exchange them for the Fire Medal, and then exchange them for more knowledge to supplement himself and become stronger.

He just wanted to suffer first and then enjoy the sweetness, work hard for a while, get the rewards he deserves, and then devote himself to research and become stronger.

Perhaps it was because he was old and wise, Oak saw through Taylor's thoughts at a glance. He did not interfere, because every great wizard has his own opinions.

This road may be dangerous and may involve losses, but they will still seriously implement their ideas and pursue their own path and truth.

"How many points do you have now?"

"240 points."

"That's still a little bit off. Try your best, kid."

"How old are you and how old am I? Can't we give the younger people a discount?"

"Then I advise you to respect an old guy like me."

…………………………

"Failed again. That old man is really tight-lipped."

He returned to his room, sat at his desk, and spread out his notebook of flame knowledge which was already filled with annotations and notes. After sighing in his heart, Taylor continued to devote himself to his own conception, deduction and analysis of flame knowledge.

He would go to the Apprentice Library almost every day to haggle with the librarian Oak, trying to reduce the number of points for the Medal of Fire.

This is not just to take advantage, but also a way to spice up life. After all, there is no internet or video in the wizarding world. Perhaps powerful wizards possess unfathomable mental strength that can sustain their long-term research and experiments for weeks, but Taylor can't do this at the moment. He must find something to relax his mind.

Simply mixing up the knowledge of fire, magic, and mental power would only make one's budding wizard knowledge system even more chaotic.
