Chapter 25 Exploration

After discussing matters related to the exploration of the ruins, Wayne and Geralt went to the forest to collect materials needed for the potion.

He is still a novice in this matter. Most of the things he has come into contact with so far are some herbs and monsters around Kaer Morhen. As for the others, he still needs Geralt, an experienced witcher, to teach him by example.

Although he had learned a lot about monsters and herbs from books during the two years in Kaer Morhen, it was not so easy to put them into practice.

While collecting herbs, the two searched for traces of the monsters in various terrains.

And Toruviel had nothing to do, so she took the initiative to act as their guide, showing them the way in the forest.

It has to be said that the elves are very suitable for fighting in the forest. They are naturally sensitive and have keen senses. As long as they undergo a certain amount of training, they can become qualified archers.

And Toruviel is able to become the leader of this group of non-human races, and her combat power is the strongest among them. This female elf is not only an excellent swordsman, but also a sharpshooter who never misses.

The three of them moved forward in the forest and soon completed the planned collection task.

And Toruveil's outstanding performance also made Wayne see the combat potential of non-human races.

He was confident that he could deal with a dozen armed bandits at once, but he was not sure if he could face the same number of elves in the forest.

A bow and arrow hidden in the dark is far more threatening than a glaring sword or gun.

After returning to the camp, Wayne was in a good mood, so he cooked himself, using the game they hunted during their mission, and cooked a big pot of vegetable stew and various main dishes, and invited everyone in the camp to taste it.

There is no doubt that with level 6 cooking skills and the cooking concepts of the Foodie Empire that far exceed those of the Middle Ages.

His cooking skills successfully conquered everyone's appetite. Even the female elf leader, who had never cared much about the taste of food, ate one more bowl than usual.

Taking advantage of this joyful atmosphere, Toruweil simply had everyone hold a small bonfire dinner.

Men, women, young and old, and all kinds of non-human races gathered together, laughing and talking, eating delicious food, drinking fine wine, and talking about their expectations for the future, which greatly improved the morale and cohesion of the entire camp.

After a brief moment of joy, time quickly came to the next day, and the commission to clean up the ruins officially began.

There were five people in the team exploring the ruins this time. In addition to the two demon hunters, Wayne and Geralt, Toruviel also brought a male elf archer and a dwarf warrior wearing heavy armor.

Of course, according to the discussion between the two parties, the job of dealing with monsters is not suitable for ordinary people, and Toruvir and her two best warriors do not need to directly participate in the battle.

They were only responsible for following Wayne and Geralt, dealing with the monster corpses, and preventing uncontrollable accidents. The main force in cleaning up the ruins was still Geralt and Wayne.

Before officially entering the ruins, they have to carry out necessary preparations exclusively for demon hunters.

Geralt and Wayne sat cross-legged at the gate of the ruins. In front of them were five kinds of glass bottles, about a dozen in total, containing witcher potions of different colors and shapes.

"Cat Potion, Thunder Potion, Swallow Potion, Tawny Owl, and Maribor Forest."

While saying the names, White Wolf pointed at the potions and said to Wayne:

"We can only make these five potions with the materials we have now. In the next battle, we must rely on potions to strengthen ourselves."

"You should remember their effects very clearly. As for which ones to drink, Wayne, you can choose for yourself."

After saying that, Geralt took a bottle of each of the five potions and drank them like drinking wine. Every half a minute, he poured a bottle into his mouth, then closed his eyes and entered a state of meditation.

He has been a demon hunter for more than seventy years, and among all the wolf school demon hunters, he has the most profound mutation, the best physical talent, and can withstand the strongest poison.

Drinking five bottles of potions at the same time was not even his limit.

However, Wayne, who was sitting opposite him, was different. He knew very well that without the support of the system, his mutation level would most likely be the most superficial among the existing Wolfblood Demon Hunters. The original owner might even have died during the mutation process.

In the past two years, he had only drunk one bottle of potion at most each time. He was very aware of his own resistance to poison. Three bottles of potion was his limit, and even those were not very toxic potions.

After thinking for a while, Wayne reached out and took the cat potion, swallow potion and tawny owl.

These three potions can respectively enhance his dark vision, recovery ability and the speed of recovery of the chaos magic in his body.

In the dim environment of the underground ruins, cat potion is necessary, and the other two can just enhance the strength of his seal.

Considering his situation, Wayne no longer hesitated, picked up the three bottles of potions, and drank them while meditating.

The potion tasted terrible, most of it contained monster tissue, and the taste could only be described as indescribable.

But fighting monsters is too dangerous, and one could die if one is not careful. In order to increase the survival rate, demon hunters have to drink these awful things.

More than ten minutes later, Geralt and Wayne both finished their meditation. The witcher potion had been completely digested by their bodies and began to strengthen their body functions.

This enhancement made both of their faces turn pale, with black veins protruding from various parts of their faces. Even their originally amber pupils turned black and filled the entire eyeballs, looking quite weird and terrifying.

This horrifying change startled Toruvel and her two subordinates who had been waiting on the side.

However, the three of them were from a long-lived race and had heard of the deeds of the witcher. They soon calmed down after being surprised and did not make a fuss like many human beings.

After everything was ready, without any further communication, Wayne and Geralt held silver swords, put on a Quen shield, and walked side by side into the gate guarded by warriors with a cautious attitude.

Behind the gate is a corridor, also in elven style, with exquisite patterns carved on the walls and ceiling. However, due to their age, many sculptures have obvious signs of weathering, making them look quite historical.

However, Wayne and Geralt's attention was not on these sculptures. After walking forty or fifty meters in the corridor, some relatively new footprints appeared in their dark vision.

Seeing these footprints, Geralt first carefully looked up at the ceiling and the surroundings. After confirming that there was no danger, he squatted down and observed carefully.

This elven relic must have not had any visitors for a long time, and thick dust has accumulated in the corridors. It is for this reason that those somewhat messy footprints are clearly imprinted on the ground.

Geralt observed for about a minute, then stood up and said to Wayne:

"These are the footprints of the water ghost, and the little fog demon."

"Be prepared. There are a lot of them. You may encounter them at the end of this corridor."
