Chapter 6 Wolf School

Wayne smiled modestly and took a sip of the juice that Geralt brought back. It was sour and sweet, with a hint of bitterness from the raw materials. It tasted pretty good.

Although Bailang looks a little expressionless, he is indeed a kind-hearted person with a strong sense of justice.

When buying supplies for the castle, he remembered the children in the castle and spent money to buy some juice for the children. Unfortunately, they no longer needed that much juice now.

At the dinner table, Vesemir and Geralt were both quite talkative, and they chatted about the current situation in the North.

However, at this time, Nilfgaard has not yet launched its first invasion, and the situation in the north is still a chaotic quagmire with no major wars but constant small wars.

More than a dozen kings in the entire north would engage in small-scale battles from time to time for a little profit or even the ownership of one or two villages.

Drop a few bodies, plunder a village or two, and then sign various agreements.

Because of the chaotic kinship relationships among medieval nobles, various alliances and betrayals, conspiracies and tricks, the entire north was almost a mess.

Neither Vesemir nor Geralt were interested in the power struggles among kings; they talked about this more to determine where there were wars.

This is because monsters usually run rampant after a war, and where monsters run rampant, demon hunters are usually needed.

In this day and age, the life of a demon hunter is not easy. Not only is most of the work dirty and tiring, it is also life-threatening and often life-threatening, but when there is no work, they are hungry and have to endure the deception, discrimination and insults of the unruly people.

In other words, most demon hunters are good people who follow traditions and principles, otherwise, countless lives of bad people would have been taken by their swords.

Soon, the two talked about Geralt's experiences in the past year. Facing his mentor, White Wolf did not hide much and simply recounted the tasks he had received in the past year.

Wayne listened silently and with great interest, his heart longing for the outside world more and more. However, as a witcher apprentice, Vesemir would not allow him to leave before he had learned all the knowledge and passed the witcher exam.

Geralt took another big gulp of liquor and stared at the dishes on the table with drunken eyes. He would only be so relaxed when he returned to the castle in Kaer Morhen.

He burped and spoke to Vesemir as if he was confessing: "This year, I caught a magic lamp while fishing by the river with a bard friend."

"I can actually fulfill three wishes."

"I suspect that it was a spirit sealed in an oil lamp."

"I was going to stop my friend from making a wish, but unfortunately I was a step too slow and he got hurt."

Vesemir was also interested when he heard this.

"What happened next?"

Dijing is a very rare and powerful elemental spirit. There are not many records about them, but each one is very magical.

Most demon hunters will never encounter this kind of thing in their lifetime.

Geralt took another sip of wine, his eyes a little dazed, as if he was missing someone.

Wayne, who has read the original novel, knows that it was that encounter that made Geralt meet his destined lover, Yennefer. The legendary White Wolf fell in love with the sorceress and fell in love with this eccentric woman at first sight.

The two had been in love on and off for decades, with countless twists and turns that could not be told to outsiders. Finally, in The Witcher 3, the ending of this love will be chosen by the players.

Geralt sighed and was about to tell Vesemir about his love troubles, when suddenly the three people at the table heard two footsteps and the sound of two men arguing outside the castle hall.

A high-pitched voice with some complaints said, "I told you long ago that we should set off earlier."

As soon as this voice fell, another deep voice refuted:

"Stop talking so much, Lambert. Are you a young master in the city?"

"You can't stand this little taste. I've been listening to you nagging all the way."

How could the man called Lambert just shut up so easily? He said without hesitation: "We are demon hunters, not water ghosts or scavengers. We can't soak in shit every day."

"You like this taste, but I don't."

Hearing this foul and sarcastic voice, Wayne, Geralt and Vesemir all knew who was coming.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, the door of the castle hall was pushed open, and two demon hunters wearing heavy armor of the Wolf School walked in.

One is a man with short buzz cut and a scar on his eye, his name is Lambert, and the other is a square-faced man with half of his face almost disfigured by scars, his name is Eskel.

As soon as he entered the hall, Lambert saw Wayne and the other two having dinner. The carefree-looking demon hunter with a buzz cut glanced at Wayne, then glanced around the hall. He seemed to understand something, turned around and spit on the ground, then complained to Eskel:

"Humph, I knew those kids wouldn't be able to hold out."

"We are all experienced people, and we know how painful the Green Grass Trial is for a child."

"We should let those children go down the mountain instead of forcing them to become witchers."

Eskel beside him also sighed, patted Lambert on the shoulder and said:

"This matter cannot be blamed on old man Vesemir."

"They were orphans of the war, children abandoned by their parents. From the moment they arrived in Kaer Morhen, becoming a demon hunter was their destiny."

Lambert cursed under his breath.

"Bullshit fate."

However, he did not blame Vesemir, but just felt a little sad about his own fate. As a child who was given to the witcher by his alcoholic father because of the law of accident, he knew very well how painful it was to become a witcher.

Eskel patted his shoulder, not caring about the evil ghost stench on him, and took him in his arms as they walked towards the dining table.

Geralt saw the two people coming over, and forced a smile on his face, saying jokingly: "You two look like you just crawled out of a cesspool."

"I can smell the stench from dozens of meters away."

The smile on Vesemir's face became even brighter. He looked at his few remaining apprentices and said with a smile, "Lambert, Eskel."

"Go take a shower first and wash off the dirt on your body."

"After you wash up, come and enjoy the dinner that Wayne cooked. Let's drink some wine and have a good chat."

"Welcome home, kids."
