The scenery around him changed, and Morin only felt a slight darkness in front of his eyes. When he turned around and looked around, he found that everything was different.
He, Fanny Daly and the others appeared in a dark space.
It was dark all around, as if there was no light, no everything, only a disorienting chaos.
"This is the interior space of the Poseidon statue."
“It’s really fast.”
Morin looked around the inside of the statue, and his senses extended outward. Soon, Morin had a result.
Morin was a little surprised. He raised his eyebrows slightly and walked slowly into the interior of the statue of Poseidon with Fanny and the others.
After they walked for a while, the scenery around them began to change. The passage turned into a long corridor. Oil lamps were hung on the stone corridor. The dim light made the surroundings look very blurry.
"Be careful, there might be some danger ahead." Fanny said slowly as she walked ahead, "According to the information I found, when the Poseidon statue was being built, everything was spiraling upwards until it reached the end of the goddess' chest. We still have a long way to go."
"It's just because of the unique design of the passage, coupled with the influence of witchcraft, that the corridor always goes forward instead of winding upward like an ordinary passage."
As Fanny spoke, she turned around and looked at Maureen, Daly and the others.
She was holding a candlestick in her hand, and under the light she looked indescribably beautiful.
But this feeling is only temporary.
Suddenly, a small black patch appeared on Fanny's face. Those black patches kept extending towards her face at a very fast speed. After those black patches extended past, Fanny's face immediately became dry and gray. From a distance, it looked like half of her face was normal, and the other half was a skeleton.
Fanny looked particularly strange now.
"Your Highness Fanny!"
The sailors were all shocked, and Daly screamed and rushed towards Fanny.
Fanny stood there quietly, motionless, without any movement, and without any life in her body. She looked like a wax figure.
With a muffled sound of "puff", Fanny's body was like a phantom and was directly passed through by Daly. Then Daly's body blurred and slowly disappeared.
"What?" Dai Li looked at Dai Li who disappeared on the spot, then looked at her own hands, and a look of shock appeared on her face.
“This is an illusion.”
"It's an illusion caused by a mirage."
Maureen's voice suddenly came from behind.
He stood quietly without moving, and behind him, large amounts of thick darkness rushed out. The darkness changed and intertwined, forming countless dense and fine tentacles, and countless terrifying black steel needles, which stabbed frantically in all directions.
Swish, swish, swish! Hiss, hiss, hiss! A series of close sounds came from all around, as if the air had been pierced. Then, the air changed and surged, and in an instant it burst like a bubble.
The scene around me changed suddenly.
Daly discovered that they were in a hall where they had appeared before, not in a corridor.
Their group had been separated. She, Morin and several other sea people were together. Apart from them, the other sea people and Fanny were wandering around in the hall. The expressions on their faces were dazed and intoxicated. They were muttering to themselves, as if they were trapped in a deep illusion and couldn't extricate themselves.
"I..." Daly wanted to do something, but she found her head felt heavy, her whole body was shaking, and she staggered and almost fell to the ground.
"You were attacked by a sea mirage, your spiritual sea was shaken, and your mental strength has been affected. You will be fine after you rest."
Maureen glanced at Daly and said calmly.
"You go and take care of the others!" Morin said, raising his hand. A thin black gust of wind rolled out from his body like countless tiny streams of water and rushed onto the foreheads of those sea people.
With a plop, the seamen fell to the ground and lay motionless, completely unconscious.
Morin looked around and began to examine everything carefully with his eyes narrowed.
Daly was shocked when she saw the many sea creatures lying on the ground. She hurried over and took good care of them. After a while, the sea creatures finally woke up gradually.
"Daly, I..."
Fanny woke up and looked around with a dazed look in her eyes.
"Your Highness, all of us have been affected by the mirage just now and fallen into an illusion." Daly whispered beside Fanny.
Mirage?
Illusion?
There was a blank look in Fanny's eyes, and she didn't quite understand what Fanny said.
"Funny, you're awake." Maureen's voice suddenly came.
"Mr. Morin..."
When Fannie saw Maureen, she was startled and wanted to say something.
"It's a mirage."
Morin slowly opened his palms. Above his palms, there was a floating creature wrapped in a transparent bubble with many twisting tentacles. It looked like a translucent, colorful, and strange creature like an octopus.
"Just now, was it this thing that made all of us fall into an illusion?" Fanny was a little surprised.
"That's right."
Maureen nodded.
His mind moved slightly, his hand moved, and the mirage in his hand blurred and disappeared directly, and was taken into the sky city by Morin.
"Okay, let's keep going." said Morin.
Fanny and many other sea people continued to move forward. The journey was still not particularly safe. From time to time, some strange creatures appeared, but none of them were as strange as the mirage just now, which made people fall into it unknowingly.
After killing a giant sea urchin, the group finally arrived at their destination, the heart of the statue of Poseidon.
There is also a large hall here. In the center of the hall is an altar. There are many stairs extending out, leading to the altar in the center from different directions.
The altar looked empty, but Morin could vaguely feel an indescribable strangeness, as if something was hidden in it.
"In the past, it was the mothers who came to get tested, but nothing was found."
Funi took a deep breath, looked at Maureen Daly and the many seafarers beside her, and said, "This time, let's go and take a look."
Everyone chose a staircase and began to slowly walk up it.
Everything is fine, everything is very quiet.
“Stop!”
Mo Lin narrowed his eyes and suddenly shouted.
Fanny and the others were startled. Only then did they realize that above the altar, a figure covered in a loose black robe with only a pair of eyes exposed had appeared.
The figure stood motionless on the altar, like a phantom, looking down at them quietly.
