Chapter 25 This man is not worth it

"Who is it?" Pei Zhiyu asked casually.

He hung up the phone directly, "It's not important, you can continue talking."

"Buzz—"

Qin Hezhou's cell phone rang again and never stopped. The expression on his face changed from annoyance to worry.

The caller was Zhou Yanchu. He didn't want to respond, but he was afraid that something had happened to Qin Mengzhi.

Seeing this, Pei Zhiyu had no choice but to say: "Go and get busy."

"But you..."

"We'll talk about our business next time."

Qin Hezhou was silent for a few seconds, agreed guiltily, and promised to listen to her finish next time.

In fact, she herself doesn't know if there will be a next time.

As soon as he left, the noodle shop owner came over to collect the bowls.

"No need to collect it!" Pei Zhiyu stopped him.

She took the bowl of beef noodles that had hardly been touched and was full of coriander, picked up a piece of it with chopsticks and put it into her mouth.

The beef noodles are delicious, and the cilantro flavor is strong.

She really hates cilantro.

But most beef noodles are added with a lot of coriander, which is said to enhance the flavor.

At first, Pei Zhiyu would compromise and spend a lot of time and energy picking out the cilantro before eating it. But it was useless because the cilantro was still filled with the unpleasant smell.

Over time, she simply stopped eating.

I don’t like coriander, and I don’t like myself being trapped in my feelings and unable to move forward.

She returned to the inpatient department with her packed lunch.

Zhong Yue was lying on the hospital bed with lifeless eyes, almost dying of hunger. When he saw Pei Zhiyu coming back, he immediately sat up with his eyes shining.

But the next second she frowned again and pinched her nose tightly.

"What did you eat? You smell like cilantro!"

"Beef noodles." Pei Zhiyu said helplessly.

Zhong Yue shook his head and looked at his lunch worriedly, then breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the packaging.

Fortunately, it was chicken porridge.

She lifted the lid and asked, "Doesn't he know that you don't eat coriander? He actually took you to eat beef noodles."

"He knows." Pei Zhiyu replied.

"That's knowingly committing a crime." Zhong Yue paused, pretending to be serious and joking, "This man is unacceptable!"

Pei Zhiyu suddenly thought that when she met Zhong Yue, she no longer ate those arduous foods, so she didn't know that she used to like beef noodles.

Then how did Qin Hezhou know?

"What are you thinking about?" Zhong Yue interrupted her.

Pei Zhiyu laughed inexplicably and continued, "He helped me pick out all the coriander."

“…”

“But I ate his bowl.”

“…”

Zhong Yue put down the spoon, crossed her arms over her chest, and pouted, "You are sick."

"Yeah, a heavy love-brained person." Pei Zhiyu nodded.

"Let's take this opportunity to give it a new business brain." Zhong Yue replied.

"It's something I can consider."

Pei Zhiyu smiled and picked up the kettle beside him to get some water. He happened to meet a nurse coming to the ward to remind Zhong Yue to go for a check-up later.

"I'll come back with you after I get some water," she said.

Zhong Yue said she understood.

There is a separate washroom on each floor of the inpatient department. There are fewer people there than Pei Zhiyu expected. She put the kettle down and turned on the faucet.

The "splashing" sound of water takes people's thoughts far away.

While I was distracted, the hot water had already filled up and was even overflowing.

Pei Zhiyu was panicked, but fortunately someone came to her aid in time and helped her turn off the switch.

"Thank you!" She held the kettle, feeling a little embarrassed.

The person who helped was an older lady, also wearing hospital gown, who looked to be no more than 40 years old.

The aunt stared at Pei Zhiyu's face, but quickly looked away, said "Be careful next time" and left.

Zhong Yue completed the hospitalization procedures late, so the order of examination was later.

They went downstairs on time, and when they arrived outside the CT room, there were only two or three people sitting in the waiting area. Zhong Yue was called soon.

Pei Zhiyu parked the wheelchair against the wall and sat alone on the bench waiting.

A patient sat down in the empty seat next to her and greeted her, saying, "Hello again."

She recognized that this was the aunt who had just helped in the bathroom.

It’s quite a coincidence indeed.

Out of politeness, Pei Zhiyu responded with a smile, but she didn't expect this aunt to be so talkative.

The other party seemed to be full of curiosity about himself.

It was really like "talking about everything from poetry and songs to the philosophy of life", and Pei Zhiyu was almost unable to bear it.

It's like a census.

But Zhong Yue’s examination had not yet ended, and she couldn’t just leave.

Until the end, the aunt suddenly grabbed Pei Zhiyu's wrist and asked, "Are you married?"

“…” Pei Zhiyu was stunned.

Then I figured it out. He probably liked her and wanted to find her a partner.

So she immediately replied, "I am married, auntie."

After hearing this answer, the aunt did not show any disappointment, but rather seemed a little... satisfied?

But before Pei Zhiyu could think about it, a voice suddenly came and interrupted his aunt's "interrogation".

"Aunt Meng! Brother Zhou, he's going too far!"

At the other end of the corridor, a young girl in a delicate little skirt ran to her aunt crying. She didn't notice Pei Zhiyu's presence and kept complaining.

"It's fine that he just ignored my calls, but now he's trying to kick me out! I just returned home..."

Qin Mengzhi let go of Pei Zhiyu's hand and placed it on the back of Zhou Yanchu's hand, comforting her: "Don't worry, I will tell him. Don't cry."

"I think Brother Zhou has been bewitched by that woman. He was never like this before!" Zhou Yanchu said angrily.

The disgust in her words was almost overflowing. If she could materialize, maybe she could help her kill the little goblin she was talking about.

Pei Zhiyu didn't want to pry into other people's gossip, so he thought about changing seats.

But just as she was about to move, she heard the girl loudly ask, "Auntie Meng, who is she?"

Qin Mengzhi didn't intend to tell the truth and thought he could just make an excuse.

At this moment, the door of the CT room slowly opened, and Zhong Yue jumped towards the three people with his injured leg bent.

He jumped and shouted, "Pei Zhiyu, quickly bring me my wheelchair! I can't hold on any longer!"

Everyone in the waiting area heard this shout.

The person involved didn't think anything was wrong. She smiled apologetically and nodded slightly to Qin Mengzhi: "My friend is out. Uh, let's talk again if we're lucky."

After she finished speaking, she pushed the wheelchair to pick up Zhong Yue, leaving Zhou Yanchu and Qin Mengzhi looking at each other in confusion.

Zhou Yanchu frowned, as if he had suddenly discovered the key point, and shouted: "She! Pei Zhiyu! Isn't she the little devil who hooked up with Brother Zhou?! Aunt Meng, you——"

Qin Mengzhi quickly covered her mouth, fearing that Pei Zhiyu might hear it if he was not far away.

Pei Zhiyu actually heard someone calling her name, but she didn't catch the specific words. Zhong Yue urged her to go back to eat, and Pei Zhiyu didn't hesitate and pushed the person into the elevator.

Outside the CT room, Qin Mengzhi let go of his hand and looked at Zhou Yanchu's appearance. He suddenly realized that he had been too indulgent towards her in the past.

She said sternly, "Zhou Yanchu, yelling in public is a sign of poor manners."
