When Xia He heard that the Yunzhou soldiers had surrounded the place, his brows slightly frowned and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.
Especially when he heard that the team leader was Li Wu, the corners of his mouth raised slightly, revealing a meaningful smile.
He walked out of the courtyard without hesitation and glanced outside the temple. He saw thousands of Yunzhou soldiers standing in battle formation, with swords and spears like a forest, looking very imposing.
Li Wu was wearing iron armor, holding a spear, riding on a tall horse, with a cold look in his eyes, looking down at Xia He from above.
"Xia He, you secretly led troops to encircle and suppress Xuantian Temple with the intention of rebellion. You should be executed for your crime!"
Li Wu's voice was cold, with unquestionable majesty in his tone, and he immediately accused him of treason!
Xia He looked calm when he heard this.
He raised his head slightly, looked directly at Li Wu, and said calmly:
"General Li, you came quickly and even mobilized the Yunzhou soldiers. However, you are also a member of the Four Major Camps. Why are you so eager to put a accusation on me? Have you already betrayed the Four Major Camps?"
Li Wu's expression remained unchanged, his eyes were like knives, and he responded coldly:
"I am loyal to Your Majesty. If anyone from the four camps rebels, I will punish them severely and will not show any leniency!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the soldiers of the Xuanwu Camp behind Xia He suddenly opened their eyes wide and clenched their fists, obviously extremely dissatisfied with Li Wu's words.
"Treason? That's nonsense!"
“Are you crazy?”
Xia He, however, remained calm.
He spoke slowly, his voice steady:
"We are besieging Xuantian Temple because they are colluding with the northern barbarians, worshipping gods in private, and causing chaos to the people. If we delay for a moment, the people in the city will be in more danger. We cannot delay this matter."
After saying that, he waved his hand, and several soldiers came forward, escorting the abbot of Xuantian Temple.
The abbot had a bruised face and dishevelled clothes. When he saw Li Wu, he immediately rushed forward as if he had found a saviour, crying and shouting:
"General! This is unfair! Our Xuantian Temple has never colluded with the Northern Barbarians. This person framed us! Please, General, help us!"
Just then, Eunuch Chang's carriage hurried over.
When Eunuch Chang got out of the car, his face was gloomy. He pointed at Xia He angrily and shouted:
"Xia He! You are so bold! How dare you secretly mobilize troops to encircle and suppress Xuantian Temple! Are you planning a rebellion?"
When the abbot saw Eunuch Chang, he acted even harder, almost rolling on the ground and crying:
"Eunuch Chang! You have to help us! He...he wronged us! Our Xuantian Temple is a formal temple, how could we collude with the barbarians!!"
"Slander! He slandered me!"
Eunuch Chang snorted coldly, his eyes like knives piercing Xia He:
"Xia He, do you have anything else to say?"
Seeing this, Li Wu waved the spear in his hand and was about to order an attack.
Xia He suddenly raised his hand, his expression calm, and his tone calm: "Wait a minute."
Eunuch Chang glared at him and said sternly, "What else do you have to argue about?"
Xia He was not in a hurry. He waved his hand lightly and several of his men immediately brought several hideous and terrifying statues and threw them heavily on the ground.
The statue has a ferocious look and obviously should not appear in a Buddhist temple.
Soon after, several bodies were dragged up. They were the killers from Yanyu Tower.
Xia He pointed at the evidence.
"These Buddha statues are the evil gods worshipped by the Northern Barbarians. They have been hidden in the Xuantian Temple for a long time. As for these corpses, they are the assassins of the Misty Rain Tower. They colluded with the Xuantian Temple and intended to assassinate the court officials."
Looking at the statue thrown on the ground, Eunuch Chang and others' faces suddenly changed, their eyes full of disbelief.
That hideous and terrifying evil god statue was exactly the evil thing worshipped by the Northern Barbarians! It actually appeared in the Xuantian Temple!
Eunuch Chang's lips trembled slightly, and he pointed at the statue, unable to speak for a long time.
"Our home, our home..."
The abbot was completely stunned, his face turned pale and cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
He was horrified: these evil statues were clearly hidden in a secret room by him, and he usually worshipped the gods in private, never blatantly. How come they were found so quickly?
His legs went weak and he almost fell to the ground, but he still managed to shout:
"It's unfair! This is a false accusation! I have never seen these things! Someone must have framed me!"
The evidence was irrefutable. Eunuch Chang's expression kept changing and his eyes flickered, and it was obvious that he was in a state of confusion.
He opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something to defend the abbot, but Xia He spoke first, his tone as cold as a knife:
"Eunuch Chang, our Xuanwu Camp is besieging the followers of the God Worshipping Cult and strangling the Northern Barbarian assassins. It would be fine if you didn't help, but instead you led your troops to surround us. Are you trying to protect these traitors? It seems that you are the ones who are plotting a rebellion!"
As soon as these words were spoken, Eunuch Chang's expression changed drastically and veins popped out on his forehead. It was obvious that he had not expected the situation to turn around like this.
He waved his hands hastily, his voice sharp:
"Xia He! Stop slandering me! This matter has nothing to do with our family! We are just worried that you might mobilize troops without permission and something unexpected might happen, so we came to check on you!"
The abbot was immediately panicked when he saw Eunuch Chang's sudden change of attitude. He rolled and crawled to Eunuch Chang's feet, crying:
"Eunuch Chang! You can't just ignore me! I'm innocent! You have to make the decision for me!"
Eunuch Chang's face darkened, a trace of disgust flashed in his eyes, he raised his foot and fiercely kicked the abbot away, and shouted:
"Get lost! Our family has nothing to do with traitors like you! Don't get involved!"
Xia He sneered, staring at Eunuch Chang with a sharp gaze:
"Eunuch Chang, wasn't it your idea to transfer these Yunzhou soldiers here?"
When Eunuch Chang heard this, his face became even uglier, and he quickly waved his hand to deny:
"Nonsense! This matter has nothing to do with our family! How can we have the right to mobilize troops!"
