Chapter 52

Chapter 52

"I can't help it." Qi Hua's voice lacked confidence; she was truly struggling to withstand her daughter's questioning.

"I took the day off to come back today," Fu Le said coldly, too angry to say anything more.

"Oh dear, don't come back! Your dad's temper is uncontrollable. I'll just deposit the money in the bank right now, so he won't be able to get it." Qi Hua hurriedly said. She knew her daughter's temper; if she came back, there would be a world war!

"Are you sure you can do it?" Fu Le asked sarcastically.

"If I can't, you can come back," Qi Hua said dismissively.

Qi Hua, who had grown accustomed to her husband's behavior, was full of resentment, but still hoped for family harmony and to avoid becoming a laughingstock in the village.

Hearing her mother say that, Fu Le stopped thinking about going back. Instead, she asked Lu Shi to keep a close eye on things and to shut down the person responsible if there was any major problem so she could go back and resolve it.

The two-month summer vacation flew by, and Fu Le achieved good results in the tutoring class. At least he no longer needed to figure out the senior year courses on his own. If he went back home for a year and followed the curriculum step by step, there would be no problem for Fu Le to pass the entrance exam for the university he wanted.

When Fu Le returned to Singapore, she went to the shop first, only to find it closed. She was taken aback. Upon inquiring, she learned that her mother hadn't come for a week, saying that she had something to do at home and couldn't get away.

When Fu Le arrived home by taxi, she found no one at the old house. She went to the new house instead, and before she even reached the door, she heard a commotion inside. Mahjong tiles were slammed onto the table, and the sound of shuffling the tiles was deafening. It was quite a noisy scene. As she approached, she saw the yard filled with smoke. If she didn't know better, she would have thought it was a banquet. There were about ten tables set up in the yard, all occupied by people playing cards. Her mother was serving tea and water to everyone like a maid. Meanwhile, her husband, Fu Le, was engrossed in the game when he slammed a wad of cash onto the table with a loud thud, shouting, "I'm betting everything!!"

The antique-style balcony on the second floor was packed with people. Some people saw Fu Le from upstairs, didn't recognize her, and stared at her with grins. The roof tiles of the eaves were covered with sunflower seed shells, creating a truly chaotic and unpleasant scene!

Fu Le took a deep breath, a surge of irritability shooting from his heels to the back of his head, and he coughed repeatedly from the secondhand smoke.

Fu Le strode in and shouted, "Mom, what are you doing?"

"Oh my, our college student is back! Lele, come and say hello to your uncles, haha..." Old Fu was busy shuffling the cards, in high spirits. The flattery around him kept coming, making him so happy that he forgot all about home.

But how many of those words of praise are true? Those envious eyes are like flies attracted to cow dung; everyone wants to bite Old Fu.

When Lao Fu was young, he had a nickname, "Fu Da Bao," which meant that he was extravagant and never hesitated to spend money.

When I was little, my mother often said that when my father went out to treat people to meals, anyone who passed by could get a free meal at his table. If someone was short of money, they could lend him a few hundred yuan even if they weren't close to him. He always gave away his money, and he never paid back what he owed people. He always owed them double the amount.

I didn't understand how Lao Fu was throwing money around before, but now I do.

"Lele, you're back. Are you hungry later? I'll add water for everyone and then heat up your food." When Fu's mother saw Fu Le return, she waved happily, but she still had to finish her work first.

Upon hearing this, Fu Le snorted and snatched the kettle from the door. "Tell me, is this a housewarming party or one of your birthday celebrations? Why are so many people eating and drinking here?"

"Oh dear, Lele, you don't know yet, do you? Your family is moving to a new house, and your dad said there's a seven-day feast. Today is the last day. You're lucky to be back today; you can still have meat and rice." A relative explained with a smile.

"Lele, your dad's struck it rich again! You'll have endless good fortune to enjoy from now on!"

"Hey, Brother Fu, there's never a time when you can't make money, right everyone?!"

"Hahahaha... Yeah, yeah! Brother Fu's abilities speak for themselves, and he's smart too, he'll never fail to make money!!"

...The surrounding praise was overwhelming, which pleased the couple but chilled Fu Le's heart.

"Oh, moving to a new house? Have you set up the accounts?" Fu Le looked at Fu Ma, her anger already reaching her eyebrows.

How much money would it cost for so many people over seven days?

“We’ve set up the stalls, that’s all for the first day. The people behind us are all relatives and villagers, and some of your father’s friends.” Seeing that Fu Le was about to lose his temper, Fu’s mother immediately pulled him inside.

Fu Le shoved his mother aside and slammed the kettle onto the open ground, yelling, "Get out, all of you!! We don't entertain anyone here!!"

A loud bang startled everyone, and upon hearing Fu Le's words, their faces stiffened, their displeasure evident. Some quick-witted individuals, realizing Fu Le was about to cause trouble, immediately made excuses to get up, saying someone was home, and left. Others, lacking tact, continued playing cards while muttering and cursing, saying Fu Le was ill-mannered.

Enraged, Fu Le went upstairs to check and found signs of sleeping in every room. She knew without a doubt that her room had been occupied by a bunch of scoundrels again!

Fu Le kicked open his room door and immediately saw Jiang the Bald lying on the woman's stomach, about to do something.

"Aa ...

Bang bang bang bang! ! !

"Ahhhh... Lele... Ahhh... Lele, it's Uncle Jiang... Lele..."

"Aaaaaah... Help me, aaaaaah..."

"Fu Le, what are you doing... Ouch..."

Upstairs, Fu Le had gone mad with violence. When Lao Fu and Qi Hua pushed through the crowd and came in, Jiang the Bald and Xu Wang were already covered in blood and lying unconscious on the floor. The other two scantily clad women were huddled by the wardrobe, their clothes disheveled, and it was obvious what they were doing.

"Fu Le? What are you doing?! Did you do this?!" Old Fu was so shocked he almost lost his voice, shouting in disbelief. What had happened to his girl?

"Fu Le, how could you kill him?" A voice of accusation came from the crowd.

"Yes, Fu Le, you'll be a college student soon. These are all your dad's friends and your elders. How could you do this?"

The surrounding voices of accusation grew louder, and Fu Le's face became increasingly gloomy. Old Fu, on the other hand, was checking the injuries of his two cronies. After confirming that they were alright, he took a deep breath, stood up, and looked at Fu Le. "Apologize to your two uncles!!" His eyes, bloodshot from staying up all night, were wide open, looking quite fierce, but that fierceness was directed at the wrong person.

Fu Le ignored Old Fu and turned to the onlookers inside and outside the gate, "You all go back. From now on, this place is mine. No one is allowed to enter. Get out!" A small portion of these people were from the village, but most were shrewd individuals from other villages. Fu Le spoke without any restraint.
