The destruction of Buddhism in Jambudvīpa was not only due to the conflicts between the Tang Dynasty and its neighboring countries, as well as secular conflicts, but also the result of the long-standing conflicts between Taoism and Buddhism.
So when the Tang Dynasty issued the decree to destroy Buddhism, no matter whether the Buddhists left or not, the Taoists would come to "see you off".
Why does the power of catastrophe exist between heaven and earth? The Tang Dynasty’s destruction of Buddhism is a good answer.
In this world, or in the three realms, there are countless contradictions and causal entanglements. Even the Golden Immortal cannot avoid such contradictions and causal entanglements. Therefore, under the endless contradictions and causal entanglements, calamity power will be generated.
The force of catastrophe fills the heaven and earth, providing an opportunity for all kinds of evil spirits to hide and grow, and it is also the most fundamental reason for the endless turmoil in the heaven and earth.
As the Jade Emperor retreats to eliminate disasters, the disaster power that has accumulated between heaven and earth has been rapidly dissipating. However, as long as heaven and earth are still running, the generation of disaster power will never stop.
The difference is that it takes a long period of accumulation for the calamity force to explode, and the period of accumulation and explosion happens to be the time when the Jade Emperor is in seclusion to eliminate the calamity.
When Bai Yuchan broke through the barrier of Mount Wutai and just flew to Mount Wutai on a cloud, a golden Buddha light suddenly shone from the Buddhist temple in Mount Wutai. Seeing this, Bai Yuchan hurriedly used his escape technique to avoid it.
Bai Yuchan's body was surrounded by a flash of light, and he immediately dodged the Buddha's light.
But before Bai Yuchan could breathe a sigh of relief, a ruler suddenly appeared above his head and hit him on the back of the head.
With a loud 'bang', Bai Yuchan fell from the clouds in an instant, and with a 'boom' he crashed into the peaks and rocks of Mount Wutai.
At this time, several more beams of celestial light flew in from the horizon. They were none other than Zhang Sanfeng, Wang Chongyang, General Zhang Jiao of Heaven, and General Zhang Bao of Earth.
When Wang Chongyang saw Bai Yuchan being knocked down, he flew straight towards the direction where Bai Yuchan fell.
Zhang Bao immediately used his Taoist magic and turned into rainbow light and flew towards the top of Mount Wutai.
At the same time, a monk wearing a gilded cassock, with an old face and holding a ruler in his hand, whose Taoism was the same as that of all the Taoists who came here, a Taiyi Xuanxian monk, rose into the air, stood high in the sky, and looked at Zhang Bao with a sharp look in his eyes.
"Are you General Zhang Bao, the God of Earth?" the big monk asked Zhang Bao.
Zhang Bao bowed and said, "It is I, the poor monk. What is your name, great monk?"
The great monk put his hands together, chanted a Buddhist name, and said, "I, the poor monk, will cross over to you."
"Why bother with crossing once or twice? I will send you back to the West. No need to thank me. This is what I should do." Zhang Bao shouted softly, and then a purple light flashed in his hand, and a huge divine banner shining with purple light appeared in Zhang Bao's hand.
"Earth God Banner?" Monk Yidu exclaimed in surprise, then immediately took off his gilded cassock, raised his hand and threw it towards Zhang Bao's head.
Zhang Bao chuckled, then suddenly waved the Earth God Banner in his hand. The gilded cassock that was flying over him instantly fell from the air as if it had grown roots, and landed tightly on the ground with a "puff".
Then Zhang Bao waved the Earth God Banner towards Monk Yidu. Monk Yidu felt his legs sink instantly, and then his whole body began to sink rapidly.
However, he did not panic. Instead, he put his hands together and practiced Buddhist teachings. Then, a ray of Buddha's light lit up around Monk Yidu. With a "clang" sound, it was like breaking shackles, and instantly broke the power of Zhang Baodigong's banner.
Then, Monk Yidu raised his hand. Before Zhang Bao could see what magic weapon Monk Yidu used, he felt a flash of white light before his eyes, and he immediately felt something was wrong.
Because this white light is nothing else but the light when the protective fairy light is shattered.
'Boom'
This was the last sound Zhang Bao heard. His body exploded like an egg hit by a stone, and a cloud of blood mist splashed up. Then Zhang Bao's soul retracted the Earth God Banner and flew back with his soul wrapped in it.
Zhang Jiao, who was in the distance, had a serious expression on his face. Seeing this, he immediately raised his hand and put Zhang Bao's spirit and soul into his sleeves.
For gods, serious injuries or disintegration of the physical body are also very serious matters.
Needless to say, he was severely injured, and the disintegration of his physical body essentially eliminated his combat effectiveness, leaving him with no choice but to flee. Although as long as his spirit remained, he could avoid reincarnation and find a way to rebuild his physical body, this would take countless years and precious medicinal resources.
"What a powerful monk." A voice came from below. Wang Chongyang was seen flying up to the clouds holding the blood-covered Bai Yuchan. As soon as he finished speaking, he found that one person was missing.
"Huh? Where is Fellow Daoist Zhang Bao?" Wang Chongyang asked in surprise.
Zhang Jue said calmly, "That monk broke my body."
Wang Chongyang was immediately shocked. He immediately helped Bai Yuchan sit down cross-legged on the cloud, then shook the sleeves of his Taoist robe and said, "Then let me meet this person."
"Brother, be careful." Zhang Sanfeng hurriedly warned, "This monk has a magic ruler. It's extremely fast and can break the protective immortal light. If you get hit, you'll be seriously injured if not killed. Brother, be careful."
Wang Chongyang nodded to Zhang Sanfeng, then flew up.
"Master monk, I heard that you have a very powerful ruler. Please take it out and let me see it." Wang Chongyang flew closer and immediately said to Monk Yidu.
Monk Yidu smiled and said, "Since you want to see it, then go ahead."
As soon as Monk Yidu finished speaking, Wang Chongyang's pupils shrank because the ruler had already flown in front of him.
But Wang Chongyang was faster. He moved back slightly, then pointed his right sword finger forward suddenly. In an instant, the void shook, and then a sharp finger light shot out and hit the ruler with a bang.
