This time, the 'merger of Heaven and Taoism' is not a 'merger', because Heaven and Taoism have always been interdependent.
However, before this, Taoism had always been different from Heaven in terms of subject. Heaven was the "master of the three realms" and the ruling body, while Taoism was the religious body.
One is based on the principles of heaven and seeks to rule and maintain stability, while the other is based on "doctrine" and seeks to preach and practice, so they are fundamentally different.
Now the "merger of Heaven and Taoism" means that Taoism has voluntarily given up its own doctrines and regards "Heaven's Rules" as its own doctrines, preaching on behalf of Heaven and educating the people.
At the same time, the immortal monks of Taoism will also generally enter the Heavenly Court to serve as officials. The two will be completely integrated, and they will jointly respect the Jade Emperor and the Taoist Ancestor, and no longer distinguish between each other.
Therefore, when the Heavenly Court officially issued an edict to announce the "merger of Heaven and Tao" to the Three Realms, all the immortals and cultivators in the Three Realms were shocked.
The ones who were most shocked were naturally Buddhism and Taoism. For them, this was definitely not good news.
But surprisingly, the Buddhist community took the initiative to submit a congratulatory petition, congratulating the "union of Heaven and Taoism." This petition was signed by all the Buddhas of the Buddhist community, and the Buddhas even said in the petition: "The unification of Heaven and Taoism is a great blessing for all beings in the three realms, and a great event that benefits all beings in the three realms."
However, congratulations aside, the Buddhist sect took quick action. The power of Buddhism in Jambudvīpa was once again unprecedentedly strengthened. According to reports from the Taoist masters guarding the Tang Dynasty in Jambudvīpa, the Buddhist sect had added at least thirty Taiyi Golden Immortals to its combat power in Jambudvīpa, and there were countless more Taiyi Golden Immortals below that.
The Buddhist sect knew very well that the Taoist sect had been forced into a state of temper by the Buddhist sect and the Xuanjiao sect, so it chose this path. Because the Heavenly Court already had the foundation of Taoism, there was no psychological pressure for the Taoist sect to merge with the Heavenly Court.
Once the Heavenly Court and Taoism merge, they will inevitably send troops to intervene in the affairs of Jambudvīpa. By that time, Buddhism will have to face more than just Taoism.
Similarly, Xuanjiao was also surprised by the merger of Tian and Dao. After a brief shock, it immediately turned to Buddhism.
The final strategy discussed by Buddhism and Xuanjiao was to conquer the Tang Dynasty as soon as possible before the merger of Heaven and Taoism was completed, and to drive all Taoists out of Jambudvīpa.
If the Taoist sect can be driven out of Jambudvīpa before the Heavenly Court intervenes, then the Buddhist sect and the Xuanjiao sect will have enough time to make proper arrangements in Jambudvīpa, and even if the Heavenly Court insists on sending troops, they will still be able to gain the upper hand.
Buddhism and Taoism could predict this, and naturally the Heavenly Court and Taoism could also predict this.
However, the Jade Emperor would naturally not take care of such matters personally. Instead, after conferring the title of the Taoist Daluo Jinxian and the Taoist Taiyi Jinxian, he returned to the Taiwei Yuqing Palace to practice in seclusion, and handed over the court meetings in the Lingxiao Palace and all the affairs of the Heavenly Court to the Five Imperial Emperors and the Taoist saints who had just been conferred.
Of course, there is also Taishang Laojun. As long as the Jade Emperor does not attend the court meeting in the Lingxiao Palace, he is too lazy to come. He just squats in the Tushita Palace every day to make elixirs and refine weapons, and does not care about worldly affairs.
Here we mainly talk about the titles of the Taoist Daluo:
Dou Mu Yuanjun's title is 'Zhongtian Fanqi Dou Mu Great Emperor Yuanjun'. …
Zhen Yuanzi was given the title of 'Zhen Yuan Dao Jun'.
The title of the Golden Spirit Holy Mother is 'Golden Spirit Holy Mother Daojun'.
The title of Lady Yunxiao is 'Yunxiao Qingluo Daojun'.
The title of the Mother of Mount Li is "Jade Purity Saint Ancestor Ziyuanjun".
The title of Queen Qiongxiao is "Qiongxiao Yuluo Daojun".
The title of Queen Bixiao is 'Bixiao Jingluo Daojun'.
The title of the Holy Mother Wu Dang is "The Taoist Holy Mother Wu Dang".
Taiyi Zhenren was given the title of 'Taiyi Xuanfang Daojun'.
Jade Ding Zhenren's title is "Ziqing Wenhua Daojun".
Chisongzi was given the title of 'Chixiao Lingwei Daojun'.
Guangchengzi was given the title of "Guangsheng Ciming Daojun".
Yun Zhongzi was given the title of "Guangde Qingfu Daojun".
Among them, Dou Mu Yuanjun held the highest title, ranking on par with the Five Imperial Emperors. The other Daluo were all ranked on par with the Five Elders of the Five Directions. However, Dou Mu Yuanjun and Zhen Yuan Daojun, despite receiving titles from the Heavenly Court, stated that they would "not interfere in government affairs." Therefore, unless a major event occurred or the Jade Emperor convened a grand court meeting, they would not participate in the court meetings.
So, at today's meeting in the Lingxiao Palace, Emperor Gou Chen said to the Daoist Daluo: "Fellow Daoists, you must do your utmost to defend the Tang Empire until the integration of Heaven and Daoism is complete."
Upon hearing this, the Daoist Daluo glanced at each other, and then the Golden Spirit Holy Mother said, "Please rest assured, Great Emperor Gou Chen. Our Daoist sect will definitely defend the Great Tang Empire before the Heavenly Court sends its troops."
"Okay." Emperor Gou Chen nodded slightly. The highest authority of military conquest in Heaven would naturally be held by Emperor Gou Chen.
Then Emperor Gou Chen turned his gaze and fell on the five 'True Lords of Futian' and the 'Six Marshals' who had just been appointed among the immortals below.
I have to say here that the original Six Saints of the North Pole have been abolished, among which the Zhenwu Emperor has become one of the newly established Nine Emperors of Shenxiao. The new Nine Emperors of Shenxiao are: Dongji Qinghua Emperor, Jiutian Yingyuan Leisheng Puhua Tianzun, Xuantian Yousheng Zhenwu Emperor, Weimiao Wutong Nanhua Emperor, Zhixu Guanmiao Chongxu Emperor, Lingmiao Qingtong Xuan Emperor, Zhaodao Hezhen Dongling Emperor, Hunyuan Zhengdao Qingxiao Shenwu Emperor, and Zhengfa Mingshen Wenchang Emperor.
It can be seen that among the Nine Emperors of Shenxiao, four emperors were newly appointed. They are the original four great Taoist masters, 'Zhuang Zhou, the Master of Nanhua', 'Lie Zi Yu Kou, the Master of Chongxu', 'Xin Jiran, the Master of Tongxuan', and 'Kang Sangzi, the Master of Dongling'.
The Four Great Immortals were also the first to enter the Heavenly Court, becoming the Daoist masters who held real power. Although the Daoist Daluo were also granted titles by the Heavenly Court, like the Five Elders, they all held high positions in the Heavenly Court, but they did not actually hold real power within the Heavenly Court.
