The Seven Fairies stood under the eaves of the gate, their eyes fixed on the alley ahead.
Dong Yong had just gone out to pick up his father. Originally, the Seventh Fairy wanted her to go, but Dong Yong disagreed and asked her to stay and take care of the children.
Although Dong Yong knew that she was a fairy from heaven, it was unacceptable for him, a grown man, to let a woman go out in the wind and rain while he was at home.
The City God Temple is not far from the Dong family’s home, and it only takes about the time of an incense stick to walk there.
But looking at the rain pouring into the streets and alleys, the Seven Fairies couldn't help but feel worried.
"Mother! Mother!" At this moment, Dong Jin's voice rang out in the hall at the back, and the Seven Fairies quickly turned around and looked back.
But in the main hall at the back, a huge stream of water gushed out and flowed into the yard in an instant.
Dong Jin stood on a chair in the hall to avoid the water, while shouting "Mom" outside.
The Seventh Fairy quickly turned around and returned to the main hall from the right corridor. Looking at the gurgling water flowing in from under the foundation of the back wall of the house, her beautiful eyebrows suddenly frowned tightly.
"Mom, will this water wash the house down?" Dong Jin stood on a chair and asked the Seven Fairies with a worried look on his face.
The Seventh Fairy used her divine consciousness to sweep across the walls around the house, then shook her head and said, "Not yet. I don't know how long this rain will last."
Just as the Seventh Fairy finished speaking, a sudden noise was heard outside the gate.
"Madam Dong, Madam Dong!"
When the Seventh Fairy heard someone calling, she immediately walked through the water that was up to her ankles and came to the gate.
I only saw the neighbors gathered outside with umbrellas, saying to the Seven Fairies: "Madam Dong, it's bad. The bridge outside the City God Temple has collapsed. Your Dong Yong and Master Dong have fallen into the river and been washed away!"
Before the Seventh Fairy married Dong Yong, the Dong family was very poor and their home was in the wilderness outside the city.
After the Seventh Fairy and Dong Yong got married, the Seventh Fairy used magic to weave cloth and sell it. Soon the Dong family's cloth business was booming, especially in the past ten years.
So the former 'Old Man Dong' has now become 'Mr. Dong'. However, although this Old Man Dong has become Mr. Dong, he does not have the airs of a master at all. He is friendly to his neighbors and tries his best to help those in need. Therefore, the Dong family has a very good reputation and relationship among the neighbors.
When the Seventh Fairy heard that Dong Yong and his son were washed away by the flood, her face turned pale and her body swayed. Then, without caring about anything, she rushed out in the heavy rain.
The neighbors who came to inform the Seven Fairies did not expect that the Dong family lady was so "reckless", and she ran very fast, as if she was not affected by the water on the ground at all, and she was out of the alley in the blink of an eye.
"Mom! Mom!" Dong Jin ran out in a hurry, but was soon stopped by the neighbors outside the door.
Several older men quickly stopped Dong Jin and said to the other young men, "Hurry up and bring back Mrs. Dong. It's too dangerous for a weak woman like her to be out there."
...
After running out of the streets, the Seven Fairies saw that there was no one on the street in the pouring rain. They immediately used their magic power and turned into a ray of light and flew into the sky.
But just when she was halfway into the air, she saw a flash of fairy light in front of her, and Fang Jian appeared in front of her.
"Ah?" The Seventh Fairy was startled, and when she saw that it was Fang Jian, she was even more shocked.
After being stunned for a moment, the Seventh Fairy had to take a deep breath, then stepped forward and bowed, "I am the Seventh Fairy Fenglian of Taiyuan Shangqing Palace, greeting Master Hongqing."
"Do you know me?" Fang Jian asked, looking at the Seven Fairies.
The Seventh Fairy said, "We met in a hurry in the mountains today and didn't have time to pay our respects. I beg Master Hongqing's forgiveness."
Fang Jian said calmly, "You were ordered by the Great Celestial Lord to return Dong Jin to Dong Yong for upbringing. Why haven't you returned from the lower world for ten years?"
The Seventh Fairy bit her lower lip and said, "Master Hongqing, Xiaoqi has an extremely important matter to do. Could Master Hongqing please give me some convenience?"
"Are you going to find Dong Yong?" Fang Jian asked.
The Seventh Fairy was startled, and then she said anxiously, "Just now the neighbors said that Dong Lang and my father-in-law were washed into the river. I want to go and save them."
Fang Jian said, "Your father-in-law has been rescued and is being brought home. As for Dong Yong, I have also rescued him. He is just outside the city on the other side of the river. He will be back after the rain stops and the floods subside."
"Really?" The Seventh Fairy asked happily upon hearing this.
Fang Jian said calmly, "Would I lie to you?"
"Thank you, Master Hongqing." This time, the Seven Fairies bowed sincerely to Fang Jian.
But Fang Jian turned away, refusing her offer, and said, "I saved him not because of you, but because of his admirable filial piety. As for you, I came here to find you. Come back to Heaven with me immediately."
"This..." The Seventh Fairy was shocked when she heard this and quickly said, "Master Hongqing, can you give Xiaoqi a few days?"
"No!" Fang Jian said, "Come back with me immediately."
The Seventh Fairy pleaded, "Master Hongqing, can you please let me go back and say goodbye to my father-in-law, Dong Lang, and Jin'er?"
Fang Jian said, "No need to say goodbye. Let them think you were washed away by the flood. That way, we can sever our worldly ties."
Upon hearing this, the Seventh Fairy found it hard to accept and said, "So... so... they will surely be in great pain. How can I bear it..."
"Shut up!" Fang Jian yelled, then raised his hand and pointed, saying, "Go."
As soon as he finished speaking, a fairy light flew out from Fang Jian's hand. As soon as the fairy light flew out, it immediately turned into a golden chain and locked the Seven Fairies.
Upon seeing this, the Seventh Fairy immediately raised her hand and pulled out a jade hairpin from her head. She threw the hairpin away, and it immediately turned into a white light and flew out.
