Including the famous gods and generals in the Heavenly Court, they were all trained and promoted by the Jade Emperor. It can be said that if there was no Jade Emperor, the Heavenly Court would always be a "small fairy court" that the Taoists and Buddhists could kick at will.
At the end of his speech, the Jade Emperor looked at Fang Jian and said, "The last great sage I promoted for the Heavenly Court was Emperor Hongqing."
Hearing this, Fang Jian's nose felt sore and he almost burst into tears, but fortunately, his Daoist practice was enough for him to suppress all emotions. He immediately bowed and said, "Your Highness, I am grateful for your insightful judgment and promotion. I will never forget this kindness."
The Jade Emperor waved his hand and said with a smile, "Don't talk about never forgetting. Fang Jian, you must know that I was born in a poor family in the lower realm. As long as I can remember, I have never had a full meal. However, despite this, I still have good intentions. No matter big or small, as long as I can do good, I will do it with all my strength. I have endured 1,750 major tribulations, each lasting 129,600 years. I have also endured 100,3200 minor tribulations, each lasting 360 years. I have performed 18 million great good deeds during each major tribulation, and 7,200 minor good deeds during each minor tribulation. Only then can I attain this infinite great way."
"I have now achieved perfection in my merits and virtues at the position of Great Heavenly Venerable. I should go to the higher realms to seek the ultimate truth and attain great freedom and ease. Why do you immortals have to stop me?" said the Jade Emperor.
After hearing this, Fang Jian understood that the removal of the Great Heavenly Venerable was a foregone conclusion and could no longer be changed. Thinking of this, he felt very complicated. If he had known this earlier, he would not have collected the List of Gods so quickly.
Afterwards, the Jade Emperor said, "The Conferred God List has been published, and I will also take the position of the Great Heavenly Venerable. The new Great Heavenly Venerable has completed his tribulations, but it will take some time before he can ascend to the Heavenly Palace and establish his throne."
Having said that, the Jade Emperor raised his hand and pointed at the List of Gods. Then, the List of Gods immediately emitted a brilliant light, slowly unfolding and illuminating the entire Lingxiao Palace.
"My lords, please look," the Jade Emperor said, pointing to the unfolded List of Gods. "This is the treasure that will wield all power in Heaven and the Three Realms."
Everyone looked up and saw that the unfolded List of Gods was shining with divine light and clear with mysterious light, but the positions of gods were divided into only two levels.
The first level is the 'honored god' and the second level is the 'true god'.
Seeing these two levels of division, Fang Jian was stunned. If there were only two levels of division, namely, the Venerable God and the True God, then wouldn't the 'Heavenly God' that he had set up be redundant?
At the same time, Fang Jian looked up again and found that whether it was the list of respected gods or the list of true gods, there was nothing on the list, and there was no name on it.
At this time, the Jade Emperor said, "Fang Jian, take out the Heavenly Dao Treasure Scroll."
Upon hearing this, Fang Jian immediately took out the Heavenly Dao Treasure Scroll from his soul and held it in both hands.
After a while, the Heavenly Dao Treasure Scroll immediately flew up, and then was sent into the List of Gods under the great power of the Jade Emperor.
As the Heavenly Dao Treasure Scroll flew to the List of Investiture of the Gods, it was immediately integrated into the List of Investiture of the Gods. Then, the List of Investiture of the Gods emitted a mysterious light, officially becoming the treasure that dominated all powers in the three realms of the world.
The next moment, the Jade Emperor spoke again, "From now on, those who are included in the Conferred God List will be called 'Gods', and those who are not will be called 'Immortals'. The Conferred God List is entrusted with the Way of Heaven. The souls of all gods whose names are on the Conferred God List are entrusted with the Conferred God List. As long as the Conferred God List is immortal, so will their souls."
“However, once one is listed in the Conferred God List, although one can wield power over the three realms, one will no longer be able to cultivate on one’s own.” Jade Emperor Avenue.
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the High Heaven Palace was horrified. Unable to cultivate on their own? Wasn't that the same as being suppressed in the Conferred God List?
But the Jade Emperor immediately continued, "Although those listed in the Conferred God List cannot cultivate, every time they achieve perfection in merit, the Heavenly Dao will directly enhance their cultivation through the Conferred God List. For example, if a Golden Immortal achieves perfection in merit, they can be directly promoted by the Heavenly Dao to the 'Taiyi Golden Immortal'. If a Taiyi Golden Immortal achieves perfection in merit, they can be directly promoted by the Heavenly Dao to the 'Daluo Golden Immortal'. If a Daluo Golden Immortal achieves perfection in merit, they can be directly promoted by the Heavenly Dao to the 'Hunyuan Wuda Daluo Golden Immortal'."
"The Hunyuan Wuji Daluo Jinxian is the highest level of Taoism specified in the List of Investiture of the Gods. There is no higher level to go. Only when one's merits are complete again can one report to the Heavenly Dao and leave the List of Investiture of the Gods. Then one can return to freedom and cultivate to a higher level on one's own, but one will no longer be able to hold the authority of the List of Investiture of the Gods." The Jade Emperor said slowly.
Hearing this, the gods finally understood. That's right, how could a treasure like the Investiture of the Gods be a constraint? It simply meant you couldn't cultivate. But if you achieved perfect merit, the Heavenly Dao would directly elevate your cultivation realm.
Some gods have already had this idea. It is actually quite painful to practice on their own, but to enter the List of Gods, one only needs to hold power to gain merit, and when the merit is complete, they can be promoted directly. How comfortable is that?
At this point, the Jade Emperor added, "There are 'people chosen by heaven' on the Conferred God List.' Only those chosen by heaven can be included. Once a person is included in the Conferred God List, he or she will abandon all emotions and thoughts, and will focus on power and divine status. He or she will control the authority of the three realms in the world and the rules of heaven, and will no longer be in charge of the affairs of heaven."
This statement is easy to understand. You can't just choose to be on the Conferred God List; you must be chosen by Heaven. Furthermore, once on the list, you are free from all desires and emotions, remaining entirely divine. You are solely responsible for exercising authority and operating the rules, no longer overseeing the affairs of Heaven. Even if another Monkey King were to wreak havoc in Heaven and invade the High Heaven Palace, they wouldn't care.
The Heavenly Dao represented behind the List of Gods is the Heavenly Dao itself, not Nuwa. Nuwa is only the certifier of Heavenly Dao and holds the authority of Heavenly Dao. Strictly speaking, she is the spokesperson of Heavenly Dao.
