Chapter 49 I knew Lingling would like it

Chapter 49 I knew Lingling would like it

Jin Zhao had never seen Meng Yanxi like this before.

Initially, he gave her the impression of being aloof and superior, even his gaze carried a cold and disdainful air. Later, she saw the warm and tender side beneath his arrogance and conceit. He didn't deny his superiority complex, but paradoxically, he also saw the suffering and struggles of others and helped them without hesitation. You could say he was just bored, or that he treated it as some novelty to spice up his otherwise uneventful life.

But for Jin Zhao, every time Meng Yanxi subtly showed favoritism, it was like sprinkling sweetness into her bittersweet past. Whether he did it intentionally or out of boredom, she was destined to never forget him and to look up to him for the rest of her life.

She always felt she wasn't good enough for him. He was such a wonderful person, and even being with him felt unreal, sometimes making her afraid that she would wake up one day to find it was all just a dream.

Tonight, however, he shattered his pride with his own hands, desperately begging for her approval.

She had actually heard those rumors, and although she didn't believe them, Meng Yanxi's attitude was so arrogant that it was as if he was admitting it. Yet this proud man, after getting drunk, rummaged through his belongings to find evidence to show her, telling her that it wasn't him, that he had no reason to.

The warm light from the bedside table shone on his profile, and the once aloof and noble wolf softened his sharp edges, making one's heart ache.

Jin Zhao suddenly regretted it.

"I'm sorry, Meng Yanxi," she murmured. "I shouldn't have lied to you back then."

In fact, she has reflected on herself many times over the years and felt that the separation back then was too undignified.

What's wrong with just openly saying you're transferring schools?

Unfortunately, when I was sixteen or seventeen, my pride was paramount, especially in front of the person I liked.

She gently touched his face, her hand filled with regret and apology.

Meng Yanxi placed her palm on the back of her hand, pressed her hand harder against her face, and gently rubbed it.

He held on tightly and wouldn't let go, looking at her with eyes like a cute and pitiful puppy, but his mouth was pushing his luck by making a demand: "Then kiss me, and I'll forgive you."

Jin Zhao couldn't help but chuckle: "As expected of you, Meng Yanxi."

You'll never be at a disadvantage, no matter what.

She originally wanted to say, "Then don't forgive me," just like how this person always teased her, but perhaps it was because his eyes were so clear and sincere at that moment that she softened and couldn't even bear to tease him.

She leaned down and gently kissed his lips.

A drunk man's whole body is burning hot, including his lips, which are soft and hot.

He didn't close his eyes; he was so close, staring straight at her. When he blinked, his long eyelashes brushed against her skin, tickling her.

Meng Yanxi felt warm all over, and the domineering and dangerous possessive feeling that she had experienced during their previous kisses was gone. Jin Zhao's heart softened, and she couldn't help but hug him and gently bite his lips.

His words were sweet, melting into the heart, and Jin Zhao couldn't resist them.

Then she was tricked into going inside, and when she tried to leave, she found she couldn't get up.

The arms behind her pressed her tightly against his body. She tried to get up, but he was too strong, and she was immediately pushed back down, lying on his chest.

"Why aren't you kissing me anymore?" The person asked innocently, their beautiful, almond-shaped eyes wide open.

Jin Zhao suspected that he had started acting like a green tea bitch again. But "green tea bitch" might not be the right word; he seemed more like he was just being coquettish.

When Meng Yanxi was drunk, he actually started to act cute.

Jin Zhao felt a pang of tenderness in her heart. She cupped his face in her hands and gently coaxed him, "It's too late, I should go back."

She really liked him, so she coaxed him like this, and couldn't help but kiss his eyebrows and eyes affectionately, and then kissed his forehead, like she was comforting her beloved big dog.

The big dog looked a little pitiful and asked in a low voice, "Going back where? To England?"

Jin Zhao hurriedly said, "No, I'll go back to the school, the one that's 800 meters away from you."

Big capitalists are meticulous about numbers. Even when drunk, they remain clear-headed and correct you: "It's 800 meters from the North Gate. From the North Gate to your teachers' apartment is another 800 meters, making it 1.6 kilometers in total."

Jin Zhao: "..."

"You must have done very well in math on your college entrance exam." She didn't know what else to say, so she just made a sarcastic remark.

The person replied without any modesty, "Yes, full marks."

Jin Zhao: "..."

Okay, he got away with it again.

Meng Yanxi: "Is there a reward for a perfect score?"

Jin Zhao: "What does your perfect score have to do with me?"

Meng Yanxi: "You are my girlfriend."

Jin Zhao reminded him: "You weren't like that when you got a perfect score."

Meng Yanxi: "Then who's to blame?"

Jin Zhao: "..."

Meng Yanxi's beautiful peach blossom eyes once again revealed that pitiful look of someone who had been abandoned: "I already confessed to you, but you didn't understand, and you still abandoned me."

Jin Zhao didn't remember confessing his feelings to her, which made her feel a little innocent.

But she couldn't bring herself to argue with a drunk person about the past, and said helplessly, "Meng Yanxi, why are you still so fierce when you're drunk?"

Meng Yanxi: "I didn't argue with you."

Jin Zhao: "You have it."

"I was begging you to stay, but you didn't understand." Meng Yanxi sighed helplessly, gently pressing her forehead against hers, seemingly feeling sorry for someone else. "Lingling, you're such a blockhead."

Jin Zhao's feelings were somewhat complicated.

Even though he attacked me, I didn't feel angry; instead, I found it both funny and endearing.

He held her like that, and she had to lie on top of him. This position was actually a little uncomfortable, but she didn't want to leave him.

She did consider whether or not to stay overnight.

But I always feel it's a bit too fast.

How long have they been dating? Less than a month.

Too much progress would make her uneasy.

More realistically, she hadn't thought about it beforehand and hadn't brought any clothes with her.

She didn't know how Meng Yanxi, a grown man, could be so sensitive, as if he could read her mind. Just as she wavered in her thoughts, he immediately hugged her even tighter, his arms as hard as iron, making it hard for her to breathe.

She could only soothe him softly in his ear: "I haven't showered, I drank alcohol, I smell bad."

Meng Yanxi was silent for a moment, then accused, "Jin Zhao, you're saying I'm stinky."

Jin Zhao was speechless, completely baffled as to how this seemingly wooden man had come to this conclusion.

Jin Zhao: "...I didn't."

Meng Yanxi: "Okay, I'll go wash now."

Meng Yanxi immediately released her and got up to walk towards the bathroom in the master bedroom.

Meng Yanxi's steps were generally steady, but her body would occasionally sway.

Jin Zhao quickly chased after her: "Meng Yanxi, don't be silly, you'll fall down."

The man stopped and immediately seized the opportunity to ask, "Then you'll wash with me."

Jin Zhao: "..."

She couldn't even win an argument with a sober Meng Yanxi, let alone a drunk Meng Yanxi.

"Then you should just fall," she said bluntly.

Even so, Jin Zhao did not leave while Meng Yanxi was taking a bath. He leaned against the wall, listening to the sounds inside, ready to help him out at any moment.

Although I anticipated that such a scene would be extremely awkward, there was nothing I could do. My drunk boyfriend's thought process was strange and he was very willful.

Fortunately, Meng Yanxi didn't linger for long. Soon, the sound of water inside stopped, and Jin Zhao breathed a sigh of relief because she didn't hear him fall.

"Lingling," Meng Yanxi called from inside.

Jin Zhao walked to the door: "What?"

Meng Yanxi: "Get me a bath towel."

Jin Zhao: "..."

She was both amused and annoyed: "Meng Yanxi, has anyone ever told you that you're annoying when you're drunk?"

Meng Yanxi: "No."

Jin Zhao: "I really want to record this and show it to you when you sober up."

Meng Yanxi: "Okay, I'll come out now."

"..."

Damn it! He's deliberately misinterpreting things!

He dares to come out naked, but she wouldn't dare to record it!

"Don't come out, I'll get it for you!"

Jin Zhao quickly ran to the dressing room and found a bath towel among a pile of clean bedding. After thinking for a moment, she felt that the bath towel was too revealing, so she grabbed a set of pajamas and handed it to her as well.

But Meng Yanxi didn't appreciate her kindness when she came out. She didn't even touch her pajamas, and came out wearing only a bath towel around her waist, leaving her upper body completely naked.

His chest muscles were taut and powerful, and his eight-pack abs were spread out like pebbles. Water droplets rolled down his V-line and into the bath towel.

Jin Zhao didn't know where to look, and quickly looked away.

"Why aren't you wearing pajamas?" Jin Zhao asked, her face flushed.

Meng Yanxi was very generous: "I'm willing to show you, you're welcome."

Jin Zhao: "..."

Meng Yanxi walked up to her again and asked, "Do I have a good figure?"

Jin Zhao: "..."

Meng Yanxi took her silence as acquiescence and nodded proudly and arrogantly: "Yes, I knew Lingling would like it."

Jin Zhao looked up at him, dumbfounded.

Although Meng Yanxi is usually quite shameless, she's never been this crazy or provocative when she's drunk.

Jin Zhao really wanted to record it and show it to him tomorrow when he sobered up. Not just tomorrow, but every time we argued, I'd show it to him and see if he could still keep arguing.

But she was also afraid that if she turned around to get her phone now, Meng Yanxi would immediately pull off the towel underneath and let her take pictures, and then say, "I knew Lingling would like it."

That's enough, I can't think about it anymore, I can already picture it!

Ultimately, those who care about their reputation can't win against those who don't.

Meng Yanxi raised her arm and smelled herself again, then said to her, "Okay, I don't smell anymore, go to sleep."

Jin Zhao: "..."

He really knows how to find fault with himself. She was clearly talking about herself, but she didn't do anything; he just went and took a shower.

Meng Yanxi is so annoying yet somehow endearing.

Jin Zhao helped him onto the bed, but the man held onto her hand tightly, asking pleadingly, "Don't leave, okay?"

Jin Zhao leaned over, their eyes met, and both were very quiet.

Without any sharp edges, Meng Yanxi, under the warm light, resembled a piece of warm jade, truly giving off the feeling of a peerless gentleman.

Jin Zhao's heart skipped a beat, and she whispered, "I'm not leaving, I'm just going to take a shower."

She had just seen it in the walk-in closet; besides his clothes, there were also women's clothes, all new. The underwear was probably disposable, probably prepared so she wouldn't mistake it for someone else's after it was washed.

Although she was a little annoyed by his scheming nature, he had been like this before she fell in love with him, so it didn't seem like there was anything to be annoyed about.

He's always been like this—a bit cunning, a bit manipulative, but undeniably, he's meticulous and always considers things very thoroughly for her.

Meng Yanxi confirmed from her eyes that she wasn't lying to him before letting go of her hand.

Jin Zhao went into the bathroom and quickly took a shower.

Meng Yanxi had really drunk too much tonight; he was already asleep when she came out.

The goldenrain tree lamp by his bedside illuminated his peaceful sleeping face.

After the man had drunk his fill of madness, he finally fell asleep, and Jin Zhao was tempted to take the opportunity to leave.

However, she only held onto the thought for two seconds before giving up.

Fine, I've already agreed to his request.

He doesn't know now, but when he wakes up, if he remembers, even if he doesn't say it, he will probably feel sad for her deceiving him again.

Besides, he's so drunk, he probably can't do anything.

Jin Zhao turned off the lights and tiptoed into bed.

The man beside her was half asleep, but when he smelled her scent, he immediately moved closer and pulled her into his arms possessively.

Jin Zhao nestled against his chest and murmured, "Meng Yanxi, you're not allowed to drink anymore."

He seemed to be asleep, yet also somewhat awake. After a while, his voice trembled with weariness as he mumbled, "Can't I even drink when I'm happy?"

Jin Zhao found it amusing and asked in a low voice, "What's so funny?"

Meng Yanxi thought for a moment, then said in a hoarse voice, "I'm very happy today."

Jin Zhao felt a sweet warmth in his heart. After a while, he said, "Then you need to improve your alcohol tolerance."

The man didn't respond to her again; in the darkness, his breathing gradually became steady.

The drunken Meng Yanxi showed no predatory aggression, and Jin Zhao quickly fell asleep as well.

But she was wrong after all.

Just because Meng Yanxi doesn't plunder when he's drunk doesn't mean he won't when he's sober.

The bedroom was dimly lit under the blackout curtains, and Jin Zhao was unsure whether it was daylight or not.

Overwhelmed by passion, the man's long, deep fingers recklessly explored.
