Chapter 19 (final chapter)

With the Southern King's rebellion concluded, Ye Gucheng only stayed in the capital for one day before setting off back to Feixian Island. The Emperor sent someone to accompany him back. The Southern King had poisoned the water source in Baiyun City to threaten Ye Gucheng. News of the Southern King's failure had not yet spread, and Ye Gucheng's immediate priority was to return to Baiyun City to detoxify the city's residents.

Lu Xiaofeng went to see him off, and Yan Liangxin, thinking he had nothing else to do, shamelessly joined in as well.

Ye Gucheng was indeed handsome and elegant. When he smiled, even the indifference in his eyes lessened, making him seem more approachable compared to the aloof and otherworldly demeanor Yan Liang had first encountered. Although he didn't actually smile, a slight amusement lingered in his eyes. After finishing his conversation with Lu Xiaofeng, he looked at Yan Liang, nodded slightly in greeting, and then rode away, followed closely by the others, leaving behind a cloud of dust.

Yan Liang said with some regret, "I was hoping to become friends with him."

Lu Xiaofeng said, "Once Baiyun City is stable, you can go there. Ye Gucheng will definitely welcome you."

Yan Liang stroked his chin, seriously considering the feasibility of this matter: "After I go to Hua Manlou for a visit, I'll see if I can go to Baiyun City to freeload... ah, I mean, see if I can go there for some fun."

Lu Xiaofeng: "Your sinister intentions have been exposed, haven't they? You've already revealed half of what you mean by freeloading."

Yan Liang looked innocent: "Huh? What did you say?"

Ximen Chuixue did not leave the capital immediately because his wife, Sun Xiuqing, was nearing her due date, and they could only make further plans after the child was born in the capital. Lu Xiaofeng visited them at their residence and returned with some pastries, looking rather melancholy. He wondered if it was a good thing that Ximen Chuixue would have more to worry about in the future.

Yan Liang didn't speak. This had nothing to do with him. He had never even spoken a word to Ximen Chuixue. Their only meeting was at the Forbidden City.

Zhang Yingfeng was still being forced to mold clay figures, and Yan Renying didn't get any silk (because Tang Tianzong specifically reminded Sikong Zhaixing), nor was he able to go to the decisive battle. Therefore, he still hasn't been able to see Ximen Chuixue.

Zhang Yingfeng still remembers who that "kind person" was. He's convinced it was Tang Tianzong, but little does he know he's mistaken.

Actually, it was Yan Liang who told Clay Figure Zhang that his grandson was there to steal. Tang Tianzong was initially unaware of Yan Liang's plan, but he witnessed Yan Liang secretly slipping the note into Clay Figure Zhang's stall, so he kept it in mind and reminded Sikong Zhaixing.

Therefore, Zhang Yingfeng and his junior brother were tricked by two people.

Returning to the two Tang Clan members who disappeared after following Gong Jiu, Tang Tianyi and Tang Tianrong learned that Gong Jiu had many resources and even someone who could cure Tang Clan poisons. So they had a long talk with Gong Jiu all night. As for the content of the conversation, Tang Tianrong said - Gong Jiu's mouth is too sharp.

Tang Tianrong was carefree and didn't care. Tang Tianyi, unlike his brother, wasn't straightforward and could directly retort. The more they talked, the darker his face became. Gong Jiu, on the other hand, became happier and happier as they talked. He suddenly discovered a new source of amusement.

Since his rebirth, he has never been aroused, and the sight of a whip does not evoke any impulse. He even felt that everything was too boring and that it would be better to die.

He discovered this when he was angry with Lu Xiaofeng: other people's misfortunes were his joys. He felt happy when he saw people speechless and unable to speak.

The three of them managed to reach a compromise, and Gong Jiu was overjoyed. Tang Tianrong, however, returned to the inn with a dark face. When he met Tang Tianzong, he said with great sincerity, "Brother, I know why you can't stand Gong Jiu."

Abandoned by his two elder brothers, Tang Tianzong, who was about to put on a stern face, was bewildered by his brothers' gritted teeth expressions.

Tang Tianrong sighed, "Gong Jiu is so infuriating."

"What happened to him?" Tang Tianzong became anxious, looking Tang Tianyi up and down, trying to see where he was injured: "Did he hurt his brother?"

Tang Tianyi: "No, it's just that person has a really sharp tongue."

Tang Tianzong: "..."

Yan Liang was unaware of the deal they had made with Gong Jiu, nor did he inquire further. To be honest, Gong Jiu was indeed a mystery. Whether it was his apparent knowledge of Ye Gucheng's affairs, his inexplicable hostility towards Lu Xiaofeng, or his manpower, all of these things made one want to investigate.

Lu Xiaofeng was naturally puzzled as to where Gong Jiu's dissatisfaction with him came from, but Gong Jiu disappeared after the incident and had Tang Tianrong deliver a message to Lu Xiaofeng.

The fact that Lu Xiaofeng owed Gong Jiu a favor made Lu Xiaofeng feel uneasy.

Yan Liang had been told by the system that Gong Jiu was reborn, but he didn't know what grudge Gong Jiu had with Lu Xiaofeng before her rebirth. While Lu Xiaofeng was deep in thought, he casually teased, "Did you steal his woman?"

Lu Xiaofeng: "How could that be? I've never met him before, let alone that he's the heir of the Prince of Taiping. Even if he has a woman, it has nothing to do with me."

That's what they say, but Gong Jiu is not just the heir of the Taiping Prince, after all, the royal surname is not Gong.

Lu Xiaofeng thought for a while and then stopped. He was born to be unrestrained and carefree, and it would be a mistake for him to be frowning and miserable just because of Gong Jiu.

After discussing their destinations, the three Tang brothers were the first to set off. Tang Tianzong was reluctant to part with Yan Liang, after all, he was Yan Liang's first friend, but he still said, "The green hills remain unchanged, and the green waters flow forever."

Yan Liang smiled and replied, "See you again someday."

Sikong Zhaixing had already run away, but before leaving, he didn't forget to play a trick on Lu Xiaofeng—he took Lu Xiaofeng's red cloak and replaced it with a colorful cloak.

Lu Xiaofeng was both amused and annoyed. He put the cloak away, thinking that he would definitely make that monkey spirit wear this cloak and walk upside down around the city.

Yan Liang came to the capital because he got lost and went the wrong way. He originally wanted to find Hua Manlou, but after going the wrong way, he couldn't find his way at all. However, instead of seeing Hua Manlou, he met Lu Xiaofeng in the capital, which was a pleasant surprise.

After the matter was over, most of the friends around had left. Yan Liang had had enough of staying in the capital and wanted to leave, while Lu Xiaofeng thought further ahead—he wanted to find a place to rest before the news spread.

Therefore, Baihualou, which would be accepted by everyone, was naturally the first choice.

Lu Xiaofeng and Yan Liang then happily decided to go and seek refuge with Hua Manlou.

Hua Manlou wasn't particularly interested in the duel between the two sword masters, Ye Gucheng and Ximen Chuixue. He had initially thought it was just a competition, a friendly exchange, but he was still somewhat shocked when the details of the duel spread. The day after hearing the news, Lu Xiaofeng and Yan Liang noisily entered the Hundred Flowers Pavilion.

"Flower-filled Pavilion—Yo!"

Yan Liang strode upstairs.

"haven't seen you for a long time!"

"Long time no see." Hua Manlou smiled slightly. "You look quite well."

"No, no, no, I'm almost driven to a nervous breakdown by Lu Xiaofeng." Yan Liang sighed and sat down to the side.

Lu Xiaofeng: "You're the one who's playing the victim! Who's really the one who's messing with me?!"

“I’m not like you, going to brothels to drink and have fun wherever I go,” Yan Liang said. “Don’t you understand the importance of self-discipline? Do you know how to stay away from drugs, gambling, and prostitution?”

"I don't understand! I don't know!"

Lu Xiaofeng rolled his eyes.

Yan Liang did go to a brothel with Lu Xiaofeng, but was driven away by the smell of rouge and powder, and never went again after that. It's unclear whether it was Mu Jiangchuan or just Yan Liang himself, but he couldn't stand the smell of rouge and powder.

After they had finished joking around, Yan Liang went downstairs to wander around and greet the people he knew from when he lived there before. Lu Xiaofeng told Hua Manlou about the whole incident, and Hua Manlou sighed deeply after listening to him.

If those coincidences hadn't occurred, the final battle would still have taken place, and one of the two would have surely died.

"Besides that, Yan Liang, he..."

Lu Xiaofeng felt a pang of pity.

Hua Manlou naturally knew this. Although Yan Liang tried his best to appear normal, his breathing and movements revealed that his body had reached its limit.

Hua Manlou sighed, "I know."

Yan Liang came upstairs excitedly with sesame seed cakes in his hand, interrupting their conversation: "It's on me!"

"Is all you've treated me to are sesame cakes?" Lu Xiaofeng looked at the sesame cakes in his hand and showed a disgusted expression. "Looks like you're still a poor wretch."

Yan Liang quickly retorted, "Not at all, not as stingy as you, Lu Xiaoqi."

Lu Xiaofeng: "I paid for most of the way here, okay? You're not only poor, you're also stingy!"

Yan Liang feigned ignorance, "Huh? The wind was too strong, I didn't hear you clearly."

Lu Xiaofeng: "Hey!"

Yan Liang understood his own physical condition better than Lu Xiaofeng and Hua Manlou. Mu Jiangchuan was already a dying man; he had borrowed Mu Jiangchuan's body, but his injuries hadn't healed properly, and he was already grateful to have lived these extra few months. Moreover, he had made friends, traveled to many places, and met different people. Compared to Yan Liang's boring previous life, this was already a truly wonderful experience.

Although the system promised him that he would go to different worlds, no one knew whether he would be able to open his eyes again after dying this time... Yan Liang was able to face death calmly, but that did not mean he was not afraid of death.

In this world, there are always more people who want to live.

Author's Note: I'm back again, hahaha.

The Lu Xiaofeng chapter has ended.

Honestly, this isn't very well written. The plot is too far-fetched, and I'm not really capable of writing it. I started as a trial, but the more I wrote, the worse I felt it was. Let's see how the next one turns out.

Let me sort out my thoughts again.

Hopefully this will give my illogical brain a workout. [Facepalm]

As for the next story, guess what it will be like! It's not in the same order as before; I've deleted the details from the synopsis.

Or if you have any requests, feel free to mention them in the comments, and maybe I'll arrange it someday _(??ω?? 」∠)_
