Yan Liang and Wang Lianhua hadn't spoken openly about it, but they both knew the truth.
Wang Lianhua didn't tell Yan Liang that he came from another world, but he inexplicably felt that Yan Liang knew his origins. Along the way, the two teased and acted out scenes together, testing each other quite a bit. Yan Liang didn't seem to bother to hide it; their previous conversation was a tacit admission, while also subtly revealing some information to him.
Yan Liang admitted that he knew Wang Lianhua's background and told him that he could indeed send him back.
After that conversation, their relationship remained the same. Yan Liang was carefree; he even felt relieved that he had revealed the matter.
The system knew that he felt a little guilty because he had kept something from Wang Lianhua. It had no body but had human emotions. It understood Yan Liang's feelings but could not agree with him from the perspective of the client. Therefore, it could only give him electric shock punishment at that time.
Their way of getting along can be summed up in three words: "bantering, gossiping, and watching the show."
Needless to say, bantering with each other is a given, but watching the drama unfold is a new pleasure since arriving in Luoyang.
People from all walks of life in search of Wang Lianhua followed the information he had leaked. Even though Wang Lianhua hadn't announced his presence in Luoyang, a prosperous and important city, people still traveled there to look for him.
Luoyang is already densely populated, and people from the martial arts world are prone to causing trouble, so many disturbances, large and small, have already occurred in the city.
Yan Liang also became one of the centers of the riots.
Yan Liang had once been stopped and questioned about Wang Lianhua's whereabouts, which he managed to evade with a few words, even having his professional abilities questioned. This was a relatively mild reaction. The men he encountered this time were much more difficult to deal with. When Yan Liang politely explained that he didn't know Wang Lianhua's location, the burly man who seemed to be the leader raised an eyebrow and shouted, "Are you deliberately playing me?! If you can't figure it out, why claim to be a genius?"
Yan Hao explained in a good mood: "Please calm down, brave warrior. This is just a trick I've learned. Although I hope to lend you a hand, I am powerless to do so. Please forgive me."
The three strong men were all burly and thick-browed, with fierce and menacing expressions. As soon as the leader spoke, a large space opened up around them, and a group of people surrounded them.
The burly man angrily retorted, "In the end, you charlatan who flaunts his fortune-telling banner is completely untrustworthy! If you were a truly enlightened master, why would you accept money?! At such a young age, you're already engaging in such swindling and deception; don't try to cover it up!"
The other two echoed his sentiments, appearing smug at the attention they received. The surrounding crowd whispered amongst themselves; some of them had consulted Yan Liang before and successfully resolved their problems, so they trusted him implicitly. However, what the burly man said did initially seem plausible. Yan Liang's age and appearance didn't match most people's image of a bearded fortune teller, which inevitably aroused suspicion.
Yan Liang glanced around and spotted Wang Lianhua on the second floor of the restaurant diagonally opposite, holding a wine cup and looking on with amusement.
...Or maybe we should just point that guy out directly.
Yan Liang thought.
He sighed and said, “This sir is joking. Of course I am not a highly accomplished master. Otherwise, I would not charge five coins for a divination. According to what you said, since highly accomplished masters do not charge money, my charging money means that I am not a highly accomplished master. Since I am not a highly accomplished master, isn’t it reasonable that my abilities are limited?”
Wang Lianhua: "..."
He curled the corners of his mouth, watching Yan Liang start spouting nonsense again.
"...You, you're not going to make excuses!"
The person was caught in the trap, their mind went blank, and they didn't know how to refute it for a moment.
Seeing that things were not going well, the two men with him stepped forward, saying, "He really is a charlatan! He speaks so eloquently! Brother, don't believe his nonsense!"
The atmosphere was tense, on the verge of exploding. Everyone around said that the fortune teller was about to suffer a lot. Just as someone was about to snatch the fortune-telling banner from Yan Liang's hand, a sword was placed in front of that person.
The hilt of the sword is adorned with a tassel, and the scabbard is engraved with simple patterns.
Everyone looked in the direction of the suddenly appearing sword and saw a young girl in an apricot-colored dress raising her eyebrows and glaring at the person who had made the move, saying, "I've been watching the whole time. You're clearly being unreasonable. Don't push your luck!"
The girl looked to be no more than fifteen years old. She was lively and cute, small in stature but with a strong presence, glaring resentfully at the man.
When the man saw the token at her waist, which was engraved with a unique pattern, his expression changed slightly—it was a token from the Huashan Sect.
Yan Liang glanced at the suddenly appearing girl, his eyes flashing slightly, and slowly revealed a smile.
He smiled and pressed down the little girl's sword, then said to the three men, "Brave warriors, let's be merciful. I can't figure out the whereabouts of the Thousand-Faced Prince Wang Lianhua..." He glanced at his true form on the opposite building and continued, "I am also ashamed. After all, the Thousand-Faced Prince, with his sharp tongue and wicked heart, stole the Evil-Slaying Sword Manual, which is a great threat to the martial arts world. If I had the ability, I would definitely help you. But I am truly powerless... I hope you can understand."
He spouted lies to these people with sincerity and a gentle demeanor. The onlookers all sided with Yan Liang; the three troublemakers had only targeted him because they wanted to vent their frustration at being repeatedly rebuffed—Yan Liang seemed easy to bully.
More and more people gathered to watch, and some even came to the rescue—although it was a young girl from the Huashan Sect. But the Huashan Sect was famous throughout the world, and the three of them were just insignificant figures in the martial arts world. They had always tried to avoid fighting with major sects when traveling the martial arts world.
"Since you've put it that way, then my two brothers and I will forgive you this time! But don't let it happen again!"
The three men uttered harsh words, glared fiercely at Yan Liang, and then turned and strode away.
The crowd gradually dispersed, and a few people, those who had previously consulted him for fortune-telling, loudly offered words of comfort to Yan Liang through the crowd. Yan Liang smiled and nodded to them, indicating that he was alright.
After the crowd dispersed, Yan Liang glanced at Wang Lianhua on the opposite building. The other woman had a smile in her eyes and looked gloating.
Yan Liang smiled at him, withdrew his gaze, turned to the little girl who hadn't left, and said gently, "Thank you for your help, heroine. My name is Yan Liang. May I ask how you should address me?"
"My name is Yue Lingshan, and I am a disciple of the Huashan Sect."
The little girl answered with her head held high, brimming with pride.
Yan Liang's expression shifted, and he said, "Could it be that you are the daughter of Yue Buqun, the leader of the Huashan Sect?"
"It's me." Yue Lingshan blinked and smiled. "You know me?"
Yan Liang smiled and said, "Sect Leader Yue's reputation as the 'Gentleman Sword' is renowned throughout the world... how could I not have heard of him?"
Yue Lingshan nodded, her pride even more evident in her words: "You're right too."
When Yue Lingshan went down the mountain for training, the sect leader was worried about his beloved daughter going down the mountain alone, so he asked Linghu Chong, the chief disciple of the Huashan Sect, to go with her.
They had only just entered Luoyang City today and booked a room at an inn not far from the scene of the incident. Yue Lingshan, who never cared about such things, sneaked out while her senior brother was talking to the innkeeper and watched for a while. Seeing that Yan Liang was in a bad situation, she quickly stepped in to save the beauty.
While Yan Liang and Yue Lingshan were talking, Linghu Chong noticed his junior sister was missing. He rushed over just in time to see Yan Liang and Yue Lingshan chatting happily. Yan Liang saw Linghu Chong first, and after a brief exchange of glances, Linghu Chong called out, "Junior Sister—"
Yue Lingshan stuck out her tongue, smiled at Linghu Chong who was walking over, and said, "Senior Brother."
When Linghu Chong heard Yue Lingshan recount the story, he was both amused and annoyed. His junior sister had come down the mountain for the first time, eager to uphold justice, and this time her wish had come true.
He and the fortune teller named Yan Liang exchanged a few words and found themselves quite compatible, developing a fondness for him. However, he had come in a hurry and had many things to prepare, so Linghu Chong bid farewell to Yue Lingshan after a few more words. Yan Liang watched their retreating figures, lost in thought.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Wang Lianhua tossed a peanut over. Yan Liang felt a weight on the back of his neck and gritted his teeth as he pulled the peanut out from his collar.
He held the peanut in his hand, didn't even look up, and turned to go upstairs.
"Did you enjoy the play?"
The first thing Yan Liang did after sitting down opposite Wang Lianhua was to lazily lean back in his chair before launching into his question. But lacking in imposing manner, his question sounded weak and unconvincing.
"Not bad, I'm quite happy."
Wang Lianhua admitted it without hesitation, a smile on his face, and asked in return, "You said that the Thousand-Faced Prince is sharp-tongued and wicked, is that true?"
"Of course it's true, how could it be false?" Yan Liang replied lazily, taking advantage of the fact that no one was around. "To leave a pitiful fortune teller to die without helping him, and then admit to enjoying the show, wouldn't you say this person is a vicious and malicious person?"
Wang Lianhua said, "Even if the Thousand-Faced Young Master doesn't save you, you won't die. Didn't a disciple from the Huashan Sect come to your rescue?"
While he was talking, Yan Liang flicked the peanut he had been holding in his hand. As expected, Wang Lianhua turned his head slightly and dodged it.
"Don't hide."
Yan Liang had expected that he would be avoided, but he still felt regretful when he was actually avoided.
Wang Lianhua glanced at him: "If you want to ambush me, you're still twenty years too early."
Yan Liang said, "This is not a sneak attack. Can revenge be called a sneak attack? It's called an open attack."
Wang Lianhua ignored him.
"Fallacy."
He looked at Yan Liang again and asked, "Did you figure out anything about those two Huashan Sect disciples?"
Yan Liang looked up at him: "Why do you ask that?"
Wang Lianhua: "Your smile at those two Huashan Sect disciples was quite creepy."
It wasn't creepy, but from Wang Lianhua's perspective, it seemed quite meaningful.
Yan Liang thought for a moment: "They are related to Lin Pingzhi."
They actually said it so frankly?
Wang Lianhua was somewhat surprised, as he thought Yan Liang wouldn't say it.
"This is what I calculated, so there's no harm in telling you."
Yan Liang's words were pointed, and Wang Lianhua felt that she had grasped a little bit of the point.
—If it can't be calculated, it can't be said aloud.
