Chapter 21 The Fight Begins...
Chapter Twenty-One: The Fight Begins
"Hidden and showing your true colors." Although Ling Hao was annoyed that the other person was taller than her, she had no intention of fighting. She wasn't some violent maniac who would pick a fight with everyone. So she left with those words, picked up her sword, and turned to leave.
"Wait a minute." She tried to leave, but the person in the veiled hat wouldn't let her go, using a swift movement to block her path.
Ling Hao frowned, and the next moment, she drew her sword and slashed at the other person. Or rather, she aimed at the other person's veil. This person was hiding their face, acting suspiciously; it was obvious there was something wrong with them. Since the other person was trying to hide themselves and even blocked her way, then she was determined to see their true face!
The man hadn't expected Ling Hao's swordplay to be so fierce. He dodged her attack, but a section of his veil was sliced off. Beneath the veil, his eyes flickered slightly.
It seems Ling Hao didn't use his full strength when fighting those people earlier. As expected of the little monster taught by that old monster Feng Qingyang, he's so powerful at such a young age, which is beyond his expectations.
Ling Hao was also surprised. She hadn't held back at all; her aim was to remove the veil. It was only because she hadn't used internal force on her sword that the opponent was definitely injured. She had gone to such lengths, and yet she had only managed to slice off a section of the veil?
Very well, it seems their martial arts skills are far superior to Yu Canghai's. In that case, she needn't hold back. The moment she made her decision, her sword shot towards her opponent like lightning.
The man hadn't initially intended to use his martial arts skills; he employed the most common, ubiquitous techniques. However, he noticed that Ling Hao's swordplay was becoming increasingly fierce, and he could no longer remain hidden. With that thought, he pulled several needles with thread attached from the corner of his robe and threw them at Ling Hao.
"You?!" Ling Hao stared in shock at the needlework wrapped around his sword. "You're Dongfang Bubai of the Sun Moon Cult?"
Of all the people she knew, only Dongfang Bubai possessed such exquisite skill with needle and thread. Ling Hao examined the other person's attire again—a bright red dress and robe—it must be Dongfang Bubai.
So it's understandable that she's shorter than him; he clearly has a large frame, unlike her. Thinking of this, Linghao felt a little happy.
"You recognize me?" Dongfang Bubai was also somewhat shocked. He had only used one move, and his identity had been revealed.
"No, I do know you." Even after recognizing the other person, Ling Hao remained wary. "What advice does the Eastern Cult Leader have for me?"
Beneath the veil, Dongfang Bubai raised his lips, a soft laugh escaping his throat. "It's nothing much, I just wanted to see what kind of disciple Feng Qingyang could teach."
He originally came to Fuzhou City for the Evil-Slaying Sword Manual, but after arriving, he learned of the sensational spread of the manual. Dongfang Bubai knew that this method couldn't have come from that rigid idiot Lin Zhennan, and out of curiosity, he kept watching.
Then, Dongfang Bubai discovered Ling Hao. Her swordsmanship was exactly the same as someone else's swordsmanship in his memory, so his gaze naturally fell on her. Unexpectedly, she revealed her master's lineage herself, confirming his original guess.
He helped someone and then ran off without waiting for thanks. Seeing Ling Hao's "escape," Dongfang Bubai gave chase. As for the Evil-Repelling Sword Manual, he no longer cared. He had already read it last night; although it was derived from the Sunflower Manual, it was nothing special.
If only one person possessed the Evil-Slaying Sword Manual, Dongfang Bubai would naturally want to seize it. But now that a group of people have it, and it's even possible that everyone in the martial arts world of Fuzhou has it, he doesn't care. In comparison, Linghao is certainly more interesting.
But what Dongfang Bubai didn't expect was that Ling Hao had seen through his identity so quickly. He narrowed his eyes slightly, "It seems Feng Qingyang mentioned me to you."
No, not at all. Ling Hao blinked and nodded, saying, "Yes, Master mentioned it once."
At this point, she definitely couldn't deny it, otherwise how could she explain knowing Dongfang Bubai's moves? She couldn't very well say that she learned them from a book, could she? Since that was the case, she could only shift the blame to her master.
While it's true that Master is old, Linghao knows he's in excellent health; he could easily slap several burly men away. Therefore, Master taking the blame for his apprentice is definitely no problem; he can handle it.
Feng Qingyang: "..."
Traitorous disciple!
Ling Hao looked completely self-righteous, not seeing anything wrong with shifting the blame to her master. It was precisely because of her self-righteousness that Dongfang Bubai believed her.
"What did your master say about me?" Dongfang Bubai asked curiously. He and Feng Qingyang had only fought once; they weren't exactly friends. It was just that that fight, which ended abruptly and without a clear conclusion, was something he would think about from time to time.
Thinking of this, Dongfang Bubai narrowed his eyes. That old bastard Feng Qingyang ran away halfway through the fight, and he couldn't find him at all. He really knows how to hide; he clearly knew the other party was hiding in Mount Hua, but he just couldn't find him.
That battle back then ended inconclusively, but Dongfang Bubai knew that if it continued, he would definitely lose to his opponent. Nevertheless, he still wanted to fight Feng Qingyang again.
"Using the name Dongfang Bubai might be a bit of an overstatement, but it's not entirely nonsense," Ling Hao said, mimicking Feng Qingyang's possible tone. Of course, she wasn't stupid; she subtly elevated Dongfang Bubai's status as she spoke.
Although those few moves didn't determine a winner, Ling Hao knew that if she wanted to defeat her opponent, she would have to pay a price. But there was no reason for them to fight to the death, so why should she risk it all?
If it can be resolved peacefully, that would be the best outcome.
"Is that so?" Beneath the veil, Dongfang Bubai smiled enigmatically.
“Yes, yes.” Ling Hao held the sword in one hand and removed the needle and thread from it with the other. “I never lie.”
That statement is a lie.
