Chapter 36 (Unclear/Incomprehensible)
Chapter Thirty-Six: I Don't Understand
"What about before?" Linghao didn't completely believe the other person's words. "Was the person who was following me connected to you?"
"Yes." Young Master Mingyue admitted it directly, and not only that, he also looked proud. "You're so smart, you guessed it was related to me."
Ling Hao: "..."
She really couldn't understand his thought process at all. He had just sent someone to follow her and was discovered, and she had even exposed him. Why was he still praising her with such a proud look on his face?
"Why did you have someone follow me?" At this moment, Ling Hao felt no anger, only utter bewilderment. She truly didn't understand.
"I'm not stalking you, I'm helping you solve some problems," Gongzi Mingyue explained. "I've asked Shici to follow you from a distance, not to disturb you, but to help you if you encounter any trouble. Just like the Qingcheng Sect, they won't bother you anymore."
Ling Hao was horrified. "You killed the entire Qingcheng Sect?"
"No, no, no, no." Gongzi Mingyue understood as soon as he saw Ling Hao's expression and quickly explained, "Only Yu Canghai and a few others with murder cases on their hands were sent to the authorities. The others were dismissed, and they won't dare to appear in the name of the Qingcheng Sect anymore." Seeing that Ling Hao's expression had softened, he said cautiously, "I know you don't like killing, and I don't like killing either. You can check, they really aren't dead."
In truth, Gongzi Mingyue was indifferent to the matter of killing; he didn't care at all. There were many things and people he didn't care about, like a wandering ghost. Until he met Linghao, he began to yearn for the human world and longed for the sunlight.
Therefore, he cared deeply about everything concerning Linghao, and everything she cared about. He noticed she never killed anyone, so he knew she disliked killing, and thus he didn't kill either. After all, his elder sister was the emperor; sending those people to the authorities would please Linghao and his sister—why not?
Gongzi Mingyue's casual instruction to Shici not to kill indiscriminately was now a relief. Thankfully, he did it; otherwise, Linghao would have completely ignored him, and there would have been no possibility of them becoming friends.
“Actually, you…” Ling Hao wanted to say something, but swallowed it back, and then asked, “Why do you insist on getting close to me? We haven’t had any other experiences together. I just saved you once. But with your power, I don’t believe you would be in any danger, so this doesn’t really count as a life-saving favor. If that’s the case, why are you so fixated on me?”
She really, really couldn't understand why he was so insistent on being friends with her, when she was just an ordinary person.
"Actually..." Seeing that Linghao was not really angry, Gongzi Mingyue continued, "Our first meeting was not in that mountain stronghold, but in the woods, where Tian Boguang was also present."
Ling Hao raised an eyebrow. "Where did you hide that I didn't even notice?"
Gongzi Mingyue laughed somewhat awkwardly, "I was lying on the tree." At that time, his breathing was so slow that it was almost non-existent, and because he was soaked in the rain, his whole body was icy cold, so it was normal that he was not discovered.
Ling Hao said, "Since you're here, you should have seen how I crippled Tian Boguang. So, you still want to be friends with me?" She had castrated Tian Boguang; what normal man wouldn't be afraid of that? Why is he now clinging to her?
“I saw it, I think you’re amazing.” Gongzi Mingyue’s eyes gleamed slightly. “You’re decisive, but also kind. I felt right then and there that you…”
"Stop!" Ling Hao quickly called out, "Don't say anymore, really." If he kept praising her, she would get goosebumps all over.
"Oh." Young Master Mingyue was still somewhat unsatisfied. He had genuinely felt that Linghao was very different back then, and when he saw her again the next day, she was different from the one the night before. But no matter when it was, she exuded a vibrant energy, like someone bathed in sunlight, completely different from him.
She was someone he truly admired. "I really think you're very different," he insisted on adding.
Ling Hao: "..."
She was speechless quite a few times when facing him.
Ling Hao felt that Gongzi Mingyue's eyesight was a bit flawed. She was clearly ruthless when she castrated people, yet he still said she was merciful? Could it be that friendship could be described as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? She thought about it seriously and realized that she also had a filter on her friends, finding their flaws cute.
So, he really didn't have any bad intentions; he just wanted to make friends?
"Don't you have any friends? Not a single one?" Ling Hao asked.
“Yes, yes,” Gongzi Mingyue nodded. “They all look down on me and don’t want to be friends with me, so I don’t have a single friend. I’ve been alone since I was a child. My brother also looks down on me, and we almost never see each other.”
Of course they don't meet. How could these two possibly meet? They might glance at each other briefly if they happen to be looking in the mirror during their exchanges, and that's all. However, since Gongzi Mingyue considers him and Gongzi Yu to be two different people, he naturally assumes they almost never meet.
However, Linghao didn't know that she felt a little sorry for Gongzi Mingyue. Even his brother ignored him; the child must have been lonely since he was little. "Tell those people to leave."
“They’ve withdrawn, they’ve withdrawn. I had them withdrawn this morning, and they won’t be following you anymore, really.” Gongzi Mingyue nodded repeatedly. “However, if you have anything to take care of, you can call Shici, she’ll handle it. Shici is my bodyguard, she can handle anything.”
"No need, I can manage on my own," Ling Hao waved her hand.
"Oh." Young Master Mingyue felt useless now. Linghao didn't want to associate with him, nor did she need his help, so she certainly didn't need his help either. Thinking of this, he was enveloped in a sense of desolation.
My older sister said that as long as you are sincere and let the other person see your true feelings, you can make friends. But it seems that this trick doesn't work now.
“In that case, we’ll be friends from now on.” Ling Hao walked up to Gongzi Mingyue.
"Ah?" Young Master Mingyue looked up, first surprised, then delighted. "Really?"
"Really?" Ling said with a smile.
She thought for a moment. Although Gongzi Yu was a troublesome person, it had nothing to do with Gongzi Mingyue after all. He and his brother didn't get along well either, so she probably wouldn't get involved in any trouble in the future. Most importantly... Ling Kan looked at Gongzi Mingyue and saw his bright eyes looking at her, so she couldn't help but feel a little soft-hearted.
He really looked like the little dog she had taken in from the street when she was a child. His forlorn appearance just now was just as pitiful as that of a stray puppy. Sigh, she couldn't help but soften her heart.
"That's wonderful!" Young Master Mingyue's smile was intense. He was already blessed with a beautiful and elegant appearance, and this smile made his appearance even more radiant and dazzling.
Linghao blinked, realizing she was mistaken; the other person was actually much prettier than her little dog.
