Chapter 67 Getting Involved...

Chapter Sixty-Seven: Getting Involved

"Poetry and lyrics, send someone to check what's going on up there." Despite being somewhat agitated, Gongzi Yu's attention remained on Ling Hao. Seeing her curiosity, he gave this order.

"Yes, young master," the poet outside the carriage replied. She called for someone to ride away quickly and return, "Reporting to the young master, the people ahead are from Liufenbantang and Jinfeng Xiyulou."

Gongzi Yu immediately knew what was going on: "They're fighting again?"

"yes."

Kyoto is a hub of martial arts factions with complex and intertwined relationships. A friend today might be an enemy tomorrow, and vice versa. No martial arts faction that survives in Kyoto should be underestimated; they all possess unique skills.

Among these factions, the relationship between the Six and a Half Hall and the Golden Wind and Fine Rain Pavilion was the worst. The root cause, however, was not any irreconcilable deep-seated hatred between them, but rather the different stances of the people standing behind them.

One side advocated war, the other peace. These two factions argued fiercely in the court, sometimes even coming to blows. These civil officials were truly ruthless when they fought; sometimes boots flew off and clothes were torn.

This is true not only in the imperial court but also in the martial arts factions within Kyoto. This is Kyoto, after all; martial arts factions unaffected by the imperial court simply cannot survive. Therefore, conflicts between the Six and a Half Hall and the Golden Wind and Fine Rain Pavilion are commonplace.

Ling Hao asked curiously, "Who are the people who came?"

"Bai Choufei of Jinfeng Xiyu Tower and Di Feijing of Liufenbantang," the poem replied.

It was those two! Ling Hao immediately became interested. "I'll go out and take a look." She pushed open the carriage door and looked ahead, but found that she couldn't see through the crowd of people at all. So she grabbed the roof of the carriage with one hand, flipped herself up onto the roof, stood still, and looked ahead.

Gongzi Yu shook his head helplessly; he knew it. Even so, his mood did indeed relax a bit because of Ling Hao's actions.

Ling Hao stood on the roof of the carriage, looking into the crowd, but she couldn't find anyone who matched Su Mengzhen and Di Feijing's appearance, because the two sides had already started fighting. However, she soon found them; the people standing behind the crowd who hadn't yet joined the fight must be Bai Choufei and Di Feijing.

Her eyesight was sharp, and she clearly saw the two people. One was dressed in a beautiful white outfit, and the other had her head down; it was easy to tell who was who. But before Ling Haoduo could even take a second look, she noticed a boy, about half a year old, caught in the middle of the fighting. He was frantically trying to hide in the middle of the fighting, but there was nowhere safe for him to go, and it looked like he was about to get hurt.

"I'll be right back." After saying this, Ling Hao gripped her longsword and flew away. She flew between the people of the Six and a Half Hall and the Golden Wind and Fine Rain Pavilion, using her sword sheath to strike them, hitting them accurately with every strike, clearing a path for herself. She quickly reached the side of the boy, then grabbed his shoulder with her left hand, leaped up, and used her sword sheath to strike him again, clearing a path once more.

Soon, she reached the outside of the fighting circle, with the child in tow.

"Thank you... thank you." The child was clearly terrified, even stuttering as he spoke.

Linghao patted the child on the shoulder, "Go home quickly."

"Okay." The child looked at those people, still afraid, his face pale. Hearing Ling Hao say this, he turned and ran away without even looking back.

Ling Hao, however, had seen where Bai Choufei and Di Feijing were, and all her curiosity had vanished. Boring. She flew back into the carriage, looking utterly dejected.

"Shall we go to the capital first?" Gongzi Yu had witnessed what had just happened, so he naturally knew what had occurred.

"Mm." Ling Hao nodded.

The convoy resumed its journey, heading towards Kyoto.

Ling Hao pushed open the car window and looked at the indistinguishable Golden Wind and Drizzle Pavilion and Six and a Half Hall, her eyes filled with complex emotions. When reading books, she enjoyed the chivalrous spirit and vengeance of the martial arts world, but when she actually faced it herself, she felt that the martial arts world was not just about chivalry and vengeance.

If she hadn't intervened, would that boy have died? He was carrying some things on his back, clearly out buying groceries for his family. If he had died, his family would have been devastated.

In this world of martial arts, it's not uncommon for martial artists to act recklessly and endanger ordinary people. Since she descended the mountain, she has already intervened in more than twenty cases. Thinking of this, Ling Hao sighed.

"What's wrong?" Gongzi Yu asked.

Ling Hao paused for a moment, then spoke her mind, and couldn't help but sigh, "If only someone could keep an eye on them." Although she was highly skilled in martial arts, she only had two hands and a sword, and there was really not much she could do to help.

Gongzi Yu smiled and said, "In that case, shall I help you?"

"You'll help me?" Linghao looked at him in confusion. "How will you help me?"

Gongzi Yu said casually, "As long as we bring the entire martial arts world under control and force them to obey, wouldn't that solve the problem?"

It was clearly just a casual remark, yet it felt incredibly heavy to Ling Hao. She stared at him, speechless, "You…"

"Hmm?" Gongzi Yu looked at her with a slight smile.

Ling Hao turned her head away and looked out the car window. "What you want to do is your business, don't involve me." Could it be that Gongzi Yu wants to control the entire martial arts world because he wants the people of the martial arts world to obey him?

"Boom—!" After a clap of thunder, the rain poured down. The people outside the caravan put on raincoats and straw hats, and the carriages sped up. They needed to get into the city before nightfall, or they would be in trouble.

"What's wrong?" It was raining, so Linghao naturally closed the window. She turned around and saw that Gongzi Yu's face seemed a little pale, so she couldn't help but ask with concern.

"It's nothing," Gongzi Yu said, calming himself down. "I'm just glad it rained before nightfall." If it had rained after nightfall, the other person would have come out.

No, absolutely not. His relationship with A-Hao had just begun to improve; he absolutely couldn't let Gongzi Mingyue cause trouble at this time. Fortunately, Kyoto is usually dry and receives little rain; after today's rain, there might not be any more rain for several months to come.

Thinking of this, Gongzi Yu felt much more at ease.

Linghao felt a strange, inexplicable feeling. She felt that something was off about Gongzi Yu, especially at this moment, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was. For some reason, Linghao, who always respected others' privacy, had the first urge to investigate.

Meanwhile, Bai Choufei and Di Feijing both noticed the carriage caravan that had detoured around them, and even more so, the figure moving freely amidst the chaos of battle. Although she only used her sword sheath and only used it to strike people, it was enough to demonstrate the exquisite swordsmanship of her opponent.

The two immediately began to ponder over someone with such skill and swordsmanship.

A note from the author:

It's been raining for almost a month now, I'm really fed up!
