Chapter 18

The underground parking lot is empty and dimly lit.

A black Ford sedan drove past. Song Xiaoyu rolled down the window, let out a soft "hmm", and stared at it for two seconds while leaning against the window sill.

"What are you looking at?" Song Xiaoshu turned the steering wheel.

Song Xiaoyu turned back and looked at Song Xiaoshu. After hesitating for two seconds, he blinked and said, "Hey, that man in the driver's seat of that car just now was so handsome."

Song Xiaoshu chuckled softly and was speechless.

"And the person sitting in the passenger seat is the beautiful sister from before." Song Xiaoshu paused and said.

Song Xiaoshu tapped his fingers slightly beside the direction and asked casually, "Are you sure you didn't see it wrong?"

"Give me your phone." Song Xiaoyu spread out her palm. Seeing that Song Xiaoshu was unmoved, she sighed, "Let me confirm for you. The man in the driver's seat is really good-looking. He might be the beautiful sister's boyfriend. Aren't you curious?"

The scene from twenty minutes ago flashed through Song Xiaoshu's mind. He asked her if she was out with her family, and she hesitated to speak.

Gu Qingyue was biting a long bar of chocolate and looking at a text message sent by Song Xiaoshu with a slightly frowned brow. Her finger fell on the input box and she was about to send a message saying, "Has your account been hacked?"

The next second, the man replied as if by telepathy.

[I’m Song Xiaoshu’s younger sister, Song Xiaoyu. Hello.]

Gu Qingyue searched for a waving emoticon and clicked send.

[Sister Gu, my brother told me you're a student at S University. I'm also interested in applying there. Can I add your WeChat account so I can learn more about S University?]

[Can. ]

Song Xiaoyu added Gu Qingyue's WeChat as she wished. She shook her phone and said proudly, "Okay, I asked, and the man just now was her third uncle."

"Brother, are you free tomorrow night?"

"how?"

"I made an appointment with Qingyue to go to her school tomorrow night." Song Xiaoyu sighed pretentiously, "Hey, brother, I see you are so busy, you probably don't have time to accompany me to S University. I'd better go alone."

"Xiao Yu, I have time." Song Xiaoshu said.

Gu Hengsheng drove the car back to his residence. Gu Qingyue got out of the car with her eyes fixed on her cell phone.

"Who are you chatting with?" Gu Hengsheng asked casually when he saw that she was absorbed in replying to messages.

"Oh, I just met a girl in the supermarket, Song Xiaoshu's sister." Gu Qingyue seemed to remember something and said, "Song Xiaoshu, you know him, right? Uncle Song's son from Macau."

"A few times."

"What's the relationship between Uncle Song and Grandpa?"

"Mentor." He said lightly.

Gu Qingyue suddenly tilted her head to look at him: "Teacher Gu, when do you have class?"

Her thoughts jumped, and Gu Hengsheng smiled before slowly saying, "Classes on Wednesday and Friday evenings."

"Oh, then can I go for an audition?" Gu Qingyue looked up at him.

"Of course." He looked doubtful. "You want to hear it?"

He didn't think she would be interested in this biology elective.

"That's right, maybe I don't understand." Gu Qingyue muttered to herself. After a while, she said truthfully, "I'm just curious about what you're like in class."

"Curious about what I look like in class?" he repeated, looking at her with amusement.

Gu Qingyue realized the flaw in her words later and quickly explained, "It's a bit strange that someone close to me is my teacher for the first time."

At this time, the elevator door in front of them slowly opened and the two people got out of the elevator.

Gu Hengsheng pressed the combination lock. The orange cat heard the noise, stood behind the door, and meowed.

Gu Qingyue put on her slippers, put aside her past grudges, and held the orange cat in her arms. She sat on the sofa, reached for the remote control on the coffee table, turned on the TV, and hugged a pillow in her arms. She said to the person in the kitchen, "My hand is injured, so I won't help you today."

She looked around and finally chose a European and American movie "Midnight Encounter" based on Douban's ratings.

One of the scenes in the movie is in the bright Central Station. The male protagonist is wearing a black striped plaid shirt, sitting on the ground, leaning against the wall, with a trumpet and a black jacket placed beside his bent legs.

Gu Hengsheng changed into casual clothes and came out of the room, glancing at the TV screen hanging on the wall.

He had moved in so long and had never turned on the TV. This was the first time he had used it. He poured a glass of water, put it on the coffee table, and casually asked, "What are you watching?"

"Before We Go." Gu Qingyue looked up at him, "Have you seen it?"

He shook his head.

"Then let's watch it together?" Gu Qingyue invited warmly.

"No more beef stew with chestnuts?" he asked.

Gu Qingyue hugged a pillow, feeling torn. Finally, she said angrily, "Then you should go make stewed beef with chestnuts."

That day, Gu Qingyue tasted the stewed beef with chestnuts that she had longed for, and Gu Hengsheng asked her how it tasted.

She squinted her eyes and blurted out, "It should be better than what Teacher Xu makes."

"Teacher Xu?" Gu Hengsheng raised his eyebrows slightly, expressing his doubts about who this Teacher Xu was.

"Oh, it's my roommate's mother." Gu Qingyue made up an excuse, "My roommate's mother is a good cook."

Gu Hengsheng smiled noncommittally, not knowing whether he believed it or not.

After dinner, Gu Hengsheng was cleaning the dishes in the kitchen, while Gu Qingyue sat on the sofa and played with the cat without any psychological burden.

When Gu Hengsheng came out of the kitchen, she was lying on the sofa, her long black hair hanging on the carpet. She held the two ends of the magazine in her hands, her eyes staring straight at it, with a serious and focused expression. If you didn't know her, you would think she was conducting some great experiment.

"What are you looking at?"

Gu Qingyue remained motionless, still staring at the magazine, her lips slightly parted as she said, "Look at you."

"Um?"

She turned over and sat up, turning the inside page of the magazine towards him: "You look quite photogenic."

After she finished speaking, she sighed again, holding her chin, and said in annoyance: "Hey, why can't I be on camera without you?"

Gu Hengsheng chuckled softly and took the magazine from her hand. He didn't even glance at it, closing it and placing it on the coffee table. Three months ago, despite repeated dissuasion from the old dean of research, Gu Hengsheng accepted an interview with the magazine. The reporter had mailed him a sample copy, but Gu Hengsheng himself had never opened it.

He took the key and asked her: "Go back to school or go home?"

"Back to school."

Song Xiaoyu had just sent her a WeChat message, asking if she had time tomorrow, as she wanted to visit her school. Gu Qingyue had already agreed, promising to take her around the campus tomorrow.

When Gu Qingyue returned to the dormitory, the rain had already stopped.

Shu Miaomiao and Jiang Xinhui were in the dormitory. The curtains were drawn tightly. The room was dark. The only source of light was the notebook on the desk. Shu Miaomiao and Jiang Xinhui squeezed into a chair.

When she pushed the door open, they both screamed.

Gu Qingyue was so frightened that she stood there in a daze.

"I was scared to death, Qingyue." Shu Miaomiao patted his chest, still feeling scared.

Gu Qingyue's hand fell on the switch beside the door and turned on the light in the room: "Are you watching a horror movie?"

"Um."

Shu Miaomiao was timid, but she loved watching movies about the supernatural, and she always had to drag someone along to watch them. Of the four people in her dormitory, only He Qing was bold enough to turn her nose up at these kinds of movies.

Jiang Xinhui picked up the milk tea in front of the desk and took a sip: "I thought you went home today."

"I didn't go back."

"She didn't go back, she went to her third uncle's place." Shu Miaomiao, who knew the inside story, said so.

"Teacher Gu?" Jiang Xinhui sighed and looked at her, "Hey, Qingyue, how does it feel to have such an outstanding relative?"

How does it feel?

Gu Qingyue thought about it carefully, and she didn't really feel anything. Because of her personality, she kept a distance from those who were a few years older than her, but Gu Hengsheng was an exception. She found that in his presence, the tension she had been holding tight for so long suddenly softened, and she enjoyed the sense of ease and freedom.

Gu Qingyue's change of mentality was probably due to what she witnessed in Yanjiang that night. She subconsciously put him in her camp.
