Chapter 29
He Qing came in from the balcony and stood by the desk, looking at her phone in one hand. After sipping soy milk, she put her phone down, turned to them, and said, "Hey, do you want to go to the concert?"
"Whose?"
"Eason's," He Qing said. "Shuowen's roommate has some concert tickets and asked if we want to go tonight."
"Go!" Jiang Xinhui was the first to agree.
He Qing looked at Gu Qingyue: "What about you, Qingyue?"
"Sure, I'm fine." Gu Qingyue said.
Shu Miaomiao followed up with a question: "Is Chi Xiqian going?"
"No," He Qing said, "just a few tickets."
"If Chi Xiqian doesn't go, I will go." Shu Miaomiao said.
He Qing smiled and said, "Hey, you don't like her so much."
"She and I have different auras." Shu Miaomiao said with a frown.
Since the last time Song Xiaoshu saw him downstairs in the dormitory, when he was sending Chi Xiqian back, Gu Qingyue hadn't contacted him since. Yang Shuowen's car was parked at the east gate, a few streetlights in the distance, the light dim.
Song Xiaoshu did not get out of the car, but sat in the driver's seat. Yang Shuowen leaned against the car door, chatting with him and smoking.
As they approached, Song Xiaoshu raised his hand and touched Yang Shuowen's arm. Yang Shuowen looked over and saw He Qing. He immediately threw away his cigarette butt calmly and stood up straight.
As He Qing approached, he frowned and said, "You're smoking again?"
"No." Yang Shuowen laughed and hugged He Qing, "Your roommate is still here, give me some face, my wife."
"Please don't abuse dogs in public." Shu Miaomiao said righteously.
Song Xiaoshu put one hand on the car window, with a smile in his eyes. He was wearing an army green hoodie jacket today. The fabric at the hood and zipper was darker in color, and a corner of the white short-sleeved fabric was visible at the collar.
In the end, except for He Qing, the other three from their dormitory took Song Xiaoshu's car, saying they didn't want to be fed "dog food." Jiang Xinhui and Shu Miaomiao got into the back of the car first, so naturally the passenger seat was reserved for her.
Song Xiaoshu turned his head and looked at her, started the engine and drove out.
The concert started at 7:00. When they arrived at the venue, it was still early, with 40 minutes to go. Song Xiaoshu bought glow sticks and glowing headpieces from the stalls near the venue, naturally for the girls.
Yang Shuowen reluctantly put on a rabbit-ear headdress under He Qing's coquettishness. Yang Shuowen has a masculine appearance, with strong facial features and dark skin. At this moment, wearing such a headdress that does not match his temperament, there is an inexplicable sense of humor in him.
Yang Shuowen was quite helpless and tried to reason with He Qing: "Look, I look like this, everyone is looking at me, isn't it embarrassing for you? Why don't you take it off, wife?"
"No, I think it looks good." He Qing raised her hand to straighten his headdress, not taking it seriously.
Yang Shuowen sighed and said, "I think you are just tormenting me."
Gu Qingyue was playing with the headdress in her hand, showing no intention of wearing it. Seeing this, Song Xiaoshu said, "Don't you like this headdress?"
"What?" She looked confused.
Song Xiaoshu pointed at the deer antler headdress in her hand, and Gu Qingyue finally understood: "No, I want to wear it later."
Song Xiaoshu looked at her carefully and said, "You..."
Gu Qingyue looked at him and asked, "What do you want to say?"
Song Xiaoshu wiped his hands in his jeans pockets, shook his head, lowered his eyes, and said, "Forget it."
Gu Qingyue looked puzzled, but did not ask any further questions.
A few people entered the venue. Their seats were quite near the front. Shu Miaomiao said, "Hey, they're in the backfield. Who bought these tickets?"
Yang Shuowen nodded at Song Xiaoshu and said, "Him."
Song Xiaoshu explained, "My brother and his agency have a partnership and gave me some tickets."
"Oh, is that so? Thank you."
They sat down, surrounded by a noisy crowd. He Qing asked, "Which of his songs do you like?"
"'Under the Mount Fuji.'" Shu Miaomiao said.
Yang Shuowen then said, "Your Backpack."
"Hmm, it's so nostalgic. I was in my third year of high school when I listened to this song. Alas, three years have passed now," Jiang Xinhui said. "It's been a long time."
Song Xiaoshu looked at Gu Qingyue: "What about you?"
Gu Qingyue hesitated for two seconds, as if thinking, and then looked at the stage in front of her: "The Beautiful Sunset."
Gu Qingyue asked him back, and Song Xiaoshu said, "Call Forwarding."
The next moment, screams from behind them swept over like a wave. Only then did they look towards the stage. The large LED screen on the stage showed ever-changing 3D animations, and the prelude of "Entertainment Sky" sounded, instantly pushing the atmosphere of the concert to its peak.
Gu Qingyue and Song Xiaoshu stopped talking, and both of them were immersed in this auditory feast.
After the concert, it was almost ten o'clock.
Yang Shuowen suggested going out for a midnight snack and then going back to the dormitory later. After all, they had just finished a concert and everyone was still in high spirits, so they agreed.
There was a barbecue restaurant near the venue. When they walked in, there were already quite a few people inside. Some of them were wearing headdresses and holding glow sticks. It was obvious that they had just come out of a concert.
There were many of them, so they chose a large round table to sit at. A waiter came over, handed the menu to Song Xiaoshu, and said, "You order first, and call me when you're done." Then he walked away.
Song Xiaoshu placed a quarto-sized menu in the middle and asked, "What would you like to eat?"
Shu Miaomiao responded, "It's vegetarian. You can take care of the rest."
Song Xiaoshu nodded, took a black pen and ticked the menu. He said very considerately, "I'll order a mushroom and shrimp noodle soup. Can you girls have it?"
After all, we stayed in the open air for three hours. Although we were very excited the whole time, we still felt a little cold after coming out of the high-spirited atmosphere. Drinking a bowl of hot soup was naturally a good suggestion.
Because Song Xiaoshu and Yang Shuowen had to drive, they didn't order any drinks. While waiting for the barbecue, everyone was silent, looking down at their phones, but it wasn't that they had nothing to talk about.
Song Xiaoshu took a couple of sips from the can of Coke in one hand. His gaze fell on Gu Qingyue, who was standing across from him. Her eyelids were lowered, and her finger was poking at the screen. Song Xiaoshu pondered for a moment, then opened his phone and logged into WeChat.
A WeChat message popped up on the phone screen. Gu Qingyue looked up at Song Xiaoshu. He was looking at her and motioned her to read the WeChat message.
Song Xiaoshu: [Do you have any complaints about me recently?]
Gu Qingyue was stunned for a moment, unsure of the tone of his message. She looked up from her phone screen and saw that he looked normal, nothing was wrong. So, Gu Qingyue subconsciously thought he was just expressing confusion.
In fact, she didn't have any opinions about him, but what Chi Xiqian said that day made her subconsciously want to keep a distance from him. Perhaps this behavior was a bit of anger towards him.
Gu Qingyue pursed her lips: [No, I have no opinion about you, you misunderstood.]
Song Xiaoshu looked at the message on his phone and frowned slightly, obviously disagreeing with her answer, but he didn't ask any more questions and sent a message immediately.
Song Xiaoshu: [I have to go to the S University Library to borrow a book these days.]
This was probably his initiative to show goodwill, and Gu Qingyue felt inexplicably guilty and immediately replied with a message: [Oh, I'll lend you my library card.]
After having supper, Gu Qingyue and her roommates returned to the dormitory. It was almost midnight. Jiang Xinhui patted her chest and said, "That was a close call. I almost couldn't get in."
Arriving on the third floor, they walked down the long corridor. Even near midnight, many dormitories still had lights on, and laughter emanated from within. S University had no lights-out policy, a significant advantage compared to neighboring universities, where dormitories were plunged into pitch-black darkness at 11 a.m.
After spending three hours at the venue and then going to a barbecue restaurant, they returned to the dormitory and took turns showering. By the time all four of them had finished, it was almost one o'clock. Without any pre-bedtime chats, they turned off the lights and went to bed.
