Big project?
Although Xu Luoluo was captivated by the handsome man, she didn't truly lose her mind and forget her principles. She found a quiet intersection near the company, got off the bus, grabbed her bag, and quickly walked a few steps before blending into the flow of people going to work.
Over this period of time, Wu Yue guided her in designing a dungeon, and she gradually got the hang of it, starting to combine existing designs with her own creative ideas.
Because of the differences in gameplay between mobile and PC games, mobile games require less skill from mobile users, which can negatively impact the user experience for previously high-level players. Therefore, she designed hidden dungeons. These dungeons offer new storylines to keep the gameplay fresh, and the extra rewards and increased map difficulty enhance the user's desire to explore and their sense of accomplishment, thus increasing user engagement.
During the meeting, the proposal was approved smoothly. Chen Shanshan even pointed out the highlights of the two hidden dungeons she designed, and asked her and Wu Yue to communicate further with the system level planners. After the entire proposal was completed, they would have to meet with the development department to see the feasibility and difficulties of implementing it at the system level before making any modifications.
"I told you your idea was really brilliant," Wu Yue whispered to her after the meeting.
"It's because you're a good teacher." Xu Luoluo winked mischievously when she said the word "teacher."
Xiao Wu chuckled contentedly, but halfway through his laugh, his expression shifted, and he returned to a serious face with a strange look: "Then I'll head back now?"
Without waiting for her reply, he dashed back to his seat, seemingly afraid of something. Xu Luoluo curiously followed his gaze and turned around, only to see Chen Shanshan walking over.
"Luo Luo, congratulations!" The two walked to the tea room, each holding a cup of coffee, and sat on the sofa to chat. Chen Shanshan spoke first, "Have you been getting a lot of requests for articles lately?"
Xu Luoluo thought she was going to talk about the project proposal, but she didn't expect Chen Shanshan to congratulate her on this. She had indeed listed her screenwriting experience on her resume during the job transfer interview, but most people would just glance at it and move on. Even if they actually saw a drama, few would pay attention to who the screenwriter was. Why would Chen Shanshan notice that?
"It's alright, I didn't expect you to have watched this show too." Xu Luoluo chuckled, her mind racing, but the answer was only three words: Tang Yizhuo.
"It was originally for work, but after watching one episode, I couldn't stop and watched the whole thing in one go." Chen Shanshan smiled shyly. "If there were more screenwriters like you, I might not have a shortage of shows to watch."
These words were sincere, and Xu Luoluo felt quite pleased to hear her work praised. However, she carefully noticed the phrase "work requirements," and since Chen Shanshan had brought it up, she jokingly asked, "Why do I need to watch dramas for work?"
Chen Shanshan seemed surprised by her question: "You don't know?"
Seeing Xu Luolu shake her head, she frowned and stood up after thinking for a while: "This is a long story, and it's not convenient to talk about it now. How about this, I'll talk to President Tang first and then get back to you."
Xu Luoluo understood that this was a signal to end the conversation, so she stood up and nodded: "Okay, then I'll go work on the proposal first."
The two left the tea room and returned to their seats. Xu Luoluo leaned back in her chair, pondering the conversation, but it felt like a jigsaw puzzle with many pieces missing; she couldn't piece together the complete picture. She bit her lip and reached for her phone on the table, but unexpectedly spotted a beautifully packaged box of nougat cookies.
She picked it up and examined it, then glanced around out of the corner of her eye. There was no note indicating its origin, and she hadn't found the same cookies on any of her colleagues' desks. Strange.
Xu Luoluo's puzzled gaze met Wu Yue's curious gaze, and she mouthed, "Who gave it to me?"
Wu Yue shook his head and said softly, "It was here when I came back just now."
So mysterious? Xu Luoluo didn't want to accept a gift from an unknown source rashly, instinctively feeling it would bring trouble, but she had nowhere to turn. Thinking it over, she decided to share it with everyone, as if the person was treating her. And sure enough, the cookies were really fragrant and delicious, filling the office area with a cheerful atmosphere.
Because of changes in her work plan, she's practically in workaholic mode now, frantically working on copywriting. So once she sits down at her computer and opens a document, all her questions and worries about cookies are forgotten. It's not until the time on her computer jumps to 6:00 that she rubs her aching shoulders, shuts down her computer, and prepares to go home.
As luck would have it, he bumped into Chen Shanshan again. This time, however, her expression was much more relaxed than before, and the two walked out of the office area together.
"I just asked, and President Tang said he would talk to you personally," Chen Shanshan explained in a low voice, then added, "Did I confuse you at noon?"
"A little," Xu Luoluo nodded seriously. "But it's normal for leaders to speak in a profound and enigmatic way, and we subordinates admire them."
The two women were only a few years apart in age, and Chen Shanshan had never acted like a leader in front of Xu Luoluo. But seeing Xu Luoluo putting on a serious face and flattering her, Chen Shanshan sneered and slapped her, saying, "Stop with that." However, her tone became much more friendly.
The two chatted and laughed as they walked together for a while before heading home separately. When Xu Luoluo returned to her apartment complex, it was already past seven o'clock. Instead of going upstairs, she took out her phone and sent a message.
"Tangtang" replied quickly: I'm back, come on up.
The apartment door was open, so Xu Luoluo unceremoniously opened it and went inside. Tang Yizhuo's kitchen was open-plan, and he had just taken a bottle of water from the refrigerator. He seemed to have just returned, still wearing a white shirt. He didn't say anything when he saw her, but instead opened the water and gulped down a few mouthfuls. Xu Luoluo stared at his perfect jawline and the Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed, her gaze inexplicably unable to look away.
Perhaps it was because her gaze was too blatant, but Tang Yizhuo put down the bottle and met her eyes. She couldn't help but swallow hard and lowered her head guiltily.
After a long silence, Xu Luoluo felt a headache coming on from his stare, so she looked up and confidently started a conversation to cover up her embarrassment: "Where shall we talk?"
"Let's go to the study." Tang Yizhuo's voice came from above, and Xu Luoluo realized he had already walked over. She subconsciously clutched a tassel on the hem of her dress, ignoring the man's approaching presence, and turned to walk towards the study.
Tang Yizhuo noticed her series of nervous little movements, raised an eyebrow but didn't point it out, and just slowly followed after her.
“The idea you mentioned before was to combine Eastern and Western fantasy elements, and I’ve thought about it carefully.” She adopted the posture of presenting an outline to a client, sketching out the logical framework on her tablet. “My current idea is that the story is set in an Eastern magical world, where Western magical elements can also be used, but it doesn’t have to be limited to Xianxia (Chinese fantasy) or the same time and space. We can set up portals/dungeons to travel between different worlds, and the characters in each world have corresponding relationships, which is similar to the setting of parallel universes.”
"What are the differences between different timelines for players?" Tang Yizhuo was quite sharp when they started talking about work.
However, she was prepared, because this point had troubled her for a long time when she started designing: "One is the sense of novelty. The costumes and spatial designs of characters in different dimensions will be different, so the visual experience is different. Another is that we can design gameplay corresponding to different time and space, such as certain skills that can only be used or acquired in a certain time and space. This design also makes it easier for the game to be updated and iterated in the future, and maintain user stickiness. For example, we set up two time and space at the beginning. After users are familiar with the gameplay and plot, we can make new adjustments based on user feedback."
...
After chatting all night, Tang Yizhuo nodded: "Not bad, we can continue."
"Not bad...?" She had been thinking about this plan for two days and two nights. She frowned and held her head in her hands. Tang Yizhuo in work mode was really hard to please.
Tang Yizhuo naturally noticed her displeasure, but he had no intention of comforting her. This was just the beginning; he couldn't let her spoil him. Game development wasn't about sentimentality; market response was his primary concern.
"Then I'll be going now?" The business was almost finished, Xu Luoluo checked the time, stretched, packed her things, and prepared to go home.
"Have you been getting a lot of commissions lately?" Tang Yizhuo asked casually, without giving a direct answer.
"Of course." She held her head high, beaming with pride. The same question elicited different answers from different people. Anyway, Tang Yizhuo knew her true nature well, so there was no need for him to feign modesty.
"Let's cancel them all."
"..."
Forget about the domineering CEO talk; Xu Luoluo certainly couldn't play along with it, coquettishly retorting, "You'll support me?"
She could clearly sense that they were getting down to business. Tang Yizhuo wouldn't say something like this for no reason, so she gave him a questioning look and waited for him to continue.
"Do you remember the company that signed you for your last drama?" Tang Yizhuo asked instead of answering.
"Yaoxing Entertainment?"
"We're planning a crossover between the game and the drama." As he said this, his gaze deepened, his tone becoming increasingly seductive. "Want to do something big together?"
Xu Luoluo's attention was completely drawn to his words. Without realizing it, she put down what she was holding, straightened up, and frowned in thought. If a hit web series were used to promote the game, and the user base was managed well, the number of users would be considerable. Whether as a screenwriter or a plot planner, this was an extremely tempting and challenging invitation.
However, T Company also collaborates with the film and television industry, so how come she hasn't heard of it? Besides, "But I haven't received any commissions from Yaoxing Entertainment."
This reaction meant she was interested, and Tang Yizhuo smiled slightly with satisfaction. Having achieved his goal, he casually stuffed the things Xu Luoluo had just put down into her hands and gently pushed her to forcefully see her out: "Then it's settled."
"I said I haven't..." Xu Luoluo couldn't stand being ignored like this, and struggled to turn around and mutter.
"Alright, you'll receive it." Tang Yizhuo squinted impatiently as he saw her out the door, then slammed the door shut after those words came through the crack in the door.
"They really just use it and then throw it away." Xu Luoluo sighed, only realizing after speaking that she had said something very ambiguous. She quickly shook her head, trying to forget her stupid remark, and pressed the elevator button for the downstairs.
She didn't know that Tang Yizhuo hadn't gone far inside the door and had clearly heard this "stupid talk".
"Didn't you choose this yourself?" Tang Yizhuo turned around, speaking almost inaudibly to a completely emotionless voice, making it unclear who he was talking to. He then turned back to his study, opened his computer, and sent out an email he had already edited in his drafts folder. The recipient was a familiar name: Zuo Zuo.
After a long and tiring night, Xu Luoluo finally got home and just wanted to lie down and sleep. Although she still had many questions in her mind, exhaustion and sleepiness overcame everything. She glanced at WeChat and saw a friend request from a stranger. Too lazy to read it carefully, she absentmindedly clicked to accept and then fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, when she checked her phone, she found several WeChat messages and an email. Tang Yizhuo had indeed kept his word; the Yaoxing contract lay quietly in her inbox, and the payment was very generous. She couldn't help but excitedly pat the bed, her anticipation for this big project growing even stronger.
After calming down, she opened WeChat.
After reading the unread messages, it seemed that some of yesterday's questions could be answered, but Xu Luoluo did not show a smile on her face.
Things started to get complicated.
