He poured the medicine into a white handkerchief, pressed it on the wound on his arm, and frowned slightly.
These medicinal herbs are hard to find.
He went a little deeper today and was unlucky, so he encountered a ferocious beast.
Monks are not allowed to kill.
He was protecting the medicinal herbs, and inevitably suffered some losses when avoiding the snake, and was caught by it several times.
Fortunately, it wasn't anything poisonous.
Knock knock knock——
"Master?" Shen Zhiyi's anxious voice came from outside, "Are you injured?"
Yan Zhuoxu paused.
He immediately lifted up his monk's robe and put it on.
He didn't even bother to treat the wound on his back.
The clothing rubs against the wound.
He frowned, took two deep breaths, and then stood up to open the door.
Shen Zhiyi's anxious face appeared before his eyes.
Her eyes wandered over him. "Little Master said you were seriously injured while collecting herbs for me in the mountains. I was really worried about you, so I came here to check on you."
"How are you? Are you seriously injured?"
"Have you applied the medicine?"
A series of expressions of concern came bombarding me.
Yan Zhuoxu pursed his lips tightly, "It's not a big deal."
Shen Zhiyi glanced at a few pieces of white cloth scattered beside the futon not far away, all stained red with blood. He asked in surprise, "How could it not be a big one when so much blood has been shed?"
Yan Zhuoxu followed her gaze and turned to see the mess on the ground. He turned slightly to stand in front of her.
"It's not as serious as you think."
Shen Zhiyi saw that his monk's robe was torn on the back, and he stepped in.
"You have a wound on your back too. How are you going to apply medicine on yourself?"
"Let me help you."
She neither addressed him as "you" nor asked for his permission before coming in. Her words and actions were truly rude.
But Yan Zhuoxu was speechless for a moment.
He gripped the door frame, his knuckles tightening as if to remind her, and stared at her intently, "It's late at night, and there are differences between men and women."
Shen Zhiyi put the Buddhist scriptures on the table.
Turning around, he said seriously, "Master, I and I are innocent. Since our hearts are clear, why should we care about these red tape?"
"You went up the mountain to collect herbs for me today. Ultimately, this injury was caused by me."
"If I don't help you apply medicine, I really can't feel at ease."
"To the Master, this mortal body is nothing more than a shell. Could it be that just because I applied medicine to you, you would develop other thoughts and betray the Buddha?"
Yan Zhuoxu pursed his lips and said subconsciously, "Of course not."
"Then what is the master afraid of?" Shen Zhiyi took a step forward, his eyes soft and clear, "It's just the medicine."
Yan Zhuoxu was silent for a moment.
He turned his head and looked at the flickering eternal lamp not far away.
He loosened his grip on the door frame, letting his long arms drop down, and closed his eyes as if accepting his fate.
He walked to the mat and sat cross-legged.
He took off his monk's robe and gathered his long hair to the side in front of him, revealing the hideous bloodstains on his back.
Shen Zhiyi’s eyelids twitched.
It's so serious.
Tears welled up in her eyes. "Master, you said it wasn't serious. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would have been fooled by you."
Yan Zhuoxu lowered his eyes, and his profile appeared even more profound under the light.
"Monks do not tell lies."
"This little injury is really nothing to me."
Shen Zhiyi poured the medicine on the silk handkerchief and pressed it over the bloodstains bit by bit.
He really wanted to help her.
But she was sincere and wanted to be close to him.
The Five Precepts of Buddhism.
Do not kill, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not lie, and do not drink alcohol.
If you want to drag him into the world of mortals, you must break away from them one by one.
Shen Zhiyi’s eyes flickered slightly.
She leaned down, put her red lips close to the wound, and blew gently.
Yan Zhuoxu's back stiffened instantly.
