He looked at him like the Grim Reaper.
"Now it's your turn to decide which car I should ride in?" he asked in an icy tone.
Zhang Leyang was so frightened that he waved his hands repeatedly.
"No, no."
He wouldn't have the guts...
"I'll go and inquire for you right away."
He left the office quickly.
He returned shortly afterward with the news.
“Lawyer Yan, those cars at your house this morning were only used by Zhang Ma when she went out to buy groceries. They are all parked in the garage now.”
Buying groceries?
Yan Jili frowned.
Did she not go out, or did someone come to pick her up?
"Okay, you can go now."
Zhang Leyang immediately slipped away.
Yan Jili looked at the documents for a while longer.
Put down the pen.
He pinched the space between his eyebrows.
He stared at the phone on the table for a long time before finally picking it up and making a call to the landline at home.
"Hello? Sir?" Aunt Zhang answered.
"She didn't go out today?"
Yan Jili tapped his knuckles lightly on the table, his tone nonchalant.
Zhang Ma was stunned for a long time before she realized that the "she" he was referring to was Shen Zhiyi.
"Oh, you mean Madam?"
"My wife is busy choosing wallpaper at home. She said she's struggling to decide on the pattern and will probably stay in the master bedroom for a few more days."
"My wife also said that she wanted to eat the small cakes from the newly opened dessert shop on Huaidong Road tonight. I'll go out and buy them for her after I finish making dinner."
"No need," Yan Jili said calmly. "I'm going to Huaidong Road this afternoon, so I'll just pick one up for her on my way."
"That's wonderful!" Zhang Ma said happily. "I won't have to make a special trip. Thank you, sir."
Yan Jili hung up the phone.
Staring at the troublesome case file on the table, a very faint smile slowly curved the corners of his lips.
Then it suddenly flattens out.
Dishonest little thing.
How dare they play with him like this.
