Chapter 198 After losing her memory, she was taken home by her cunning ex-boyfriend (1)

Hospital, operating room.

The monitor beeped twice.

The fluctuating red line stabilized, and the nurse breathed a sigh of relief.

"Dr. Jiang, the heart rate has returned to normal."

Her voice trembled slightly with excitement, and her eyes were filled with admiration as she looked at Jiang Jinwang.

This was her first time undergoing such a complex surgery.

Dr. Jiang's procedure was flawless.

Truly a leader in the industry.

Jiang Jinwang showed no emotion and nodded slightly.

He curled his fingertips, which were trembling slightly from holding the scalpel for so long, but his movements remained steady and precise. With a "clang," he placed the instrument back on the tray.

He wore a mask, revealing only his eyes, but the sharpness of his brow bone was still undeniable.

Beneath his deep brown pupils, the corners of his eyes were slightly upturned, like they were covered with a thin layer of ice, sweeping across the waveforms on the electrocardiogram with a clear, crisp look.

"Notify the family that the surgery was successful."

His Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice was hoarse, as if it had been sanded, revealing a hint of fatigue.

The nurse excitedly responded with a "Yes!"

Outside the operating room.

He avoided the agitated patient's family members, leaned against the wall alone, and took off his surgical gown.

The fabric was soaked with sweat.

When you lower your head slightly, you can see several vertebrae protruding at the back of your neck.

The intern walked over, her gaze sweeping over his handsome, sharp features with a complex expression.

Dr. Jiang has lost a lot of weight in the past six months.

I don't know what triggered it, but it kept working non-stop like it was going to kill it.

One surgery after another.

He almost always slept in the duty room.

Forget about resting, he can count on one hand the number of times he's gone home.

"Dr. Jiang, have some water."

He handed over the water bottle.

Jiang Jinwang waved his hand, his body swayed slightly, and he leaned against the wall for a couple of seconds before closing his eyes and straightening up.

"Give me the contingency plan for the next surgery."

He didn't even take off his mask.

The intern took back the water bottle and handed over the contingency plan.

Jiang Jinwang looked down and flipped through the documents.

His slender fingers rubbed against the white paper, tapping it twice. When he looked up again, the weariness in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a professional and cold gaze.

"The imaging report is out?"

The intern nodded. "It's already been delivered to your office."

Jiang Jinwang closed the file and turned to walk towards his office.

When the dean entered the lounge.

Jiang Jinwang was washing his face with cold water.

The cool water droplets slid down his sharp jawline, but couldn't dispel the bloodshot veins in his eyes.

The dean stood behind him, their eyes meeting in the mirror, and his hand holding the thermos trembled slightly for no apparent reason.

He shook his head.

He sighed with a hint of helplessness.

She has a face that could make a nurse blush and her heart race, yet she insists on putting on an aloof and unapproachable demeanor.

That look in his eyes is more frightening than a scalpel.

"After working non-stop for so many days, your face is practically fused to the mask." The dean slammed his thermos down on the table, glancing at the mask marks on his porcelain-white face.

"I've approved your leave. Go home and get some sleep."

"No need." Jiang Jinwang wiped his face and threw the tissue into the trash can. "I have a consultation this afternoon."

"What kind of diagnosis is this!" The hospital director opened the schedule, sighed heavily, and then quickly closed it again. "Dr. Zhang is keeping an eye on things."

"You really think you're made of iron?"

Jiang Jinwang walked over, reached for the spare white coat on the hanger, and curled his lips without any emotion.

"Corey is short-staffed."

"We won't miss you even if it's tight!" Before the dean finished speaking, a series of hurried footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.

The nurse's voice, mixed with the static from the walkie-talkie, assaulted my ears.

"Emergency Room! Seriously injured in a car accident, female, 25 years old, name Shen Zhiyi—"

Jiang Jinwang paused, then suddenly turned around.

He rushed over, opened the door, and called out to the nurse who had just passed by, "Say it again, what's the patient's name?"

"Shen Zhiyi." The nurse was startled by the bloodshot eyes and stammered.

Jiang Jinwang's mind went blank, and his voice trembled at the end.

Where is he?

"Emergency room! Just had a CT scan—"

"Prepare the operating room!" he interrupted the nurse and ran towards the emergency room. "Notify the anesthesiology department; I'll be the surgeon."

"But Dr. Jiang, you're already..."

"I said I'd be the surgeon!"

He was stunned for a moment when he shouted it out.

This was the first time he had lost his composure at work since he started working.

Jiang Jinwang composed himself and didn't look at the nurse again.

When the dean chased after him, he only caught a glimpse of the hem of a white coat at the corner of the corridor, moving so fast it was like a blur.

He paused for a moment, then frowned.

“Shen Zhiyi…” he pursed his lips, “Why does that name sound so familiar?”

The door to the emergency room was kicked open.

The pungent smell of disinfectant mixed with a strong stench of blood hit Jiang Jinwang's face, causing his heart to leap into his throat as he glanced at the person lying on the hospital bed.

Shen Zhiyi closed her eyes, the blood on her forehead soaking through the gauze.

The ends of her hair clung to her pale cheeks.

He stepped up to her, his usually calm eyes now brimming with a myriad of emotions.

But in the blink of an eye, it all faded away.

It was put back on with a cold, hard ice shell.

Shen Zhiyi, you're really something.

I haven't seen you for half a year, and you've turned yourself into this.

"Prepare for surgery."

He put on his gloves, and his voice became so calm it was as if he were a completely different person.

*

The next morning.

Jiang Jinwang stood outside the ward, looking at the person inside who was wrapped in gauze and asleep.

“Dr. Jiang, he’s out of danger and should wake up today, but…” The doctor next to him paused and said, “The assessment shows a mild concussion, which may cause retrograde amnesia.”

"You may lose your memory for a period of time."
