"Princess, are you alright?"
Leo took the teacup from her hand with concern, and then picked up a silk handkerchief to wipe her hands, but she dodged away.
"It's alright." Shen Zhiyi waved her hand. "The tea was too hot."
She lowered her eyelashes, her voice slightly unsteady, "You go back first. I'll go to the auction."
Leo's chest heaved, his eyes gleaming with joy, and he immediately stood up. "Great!"
"I'll come to pick up the princess then!"
He turned and walked out of the main hall.
Only after closing the door could one vaguely hear some strange noises coming from inside.
It sounded like Shen Zhiyi crying.
He frowned, paused for a moment, then shook his head.
Did you hear that right?
How could a princess possibly cry?
Thinking of the auction in two days, Leo's face lit up with joy again. He gripped the hilt of his sword and strode away.
...
Two days later, the Ice Crystal City Auction.
Samus and Leo walked behind Shen Zhiyi, one on each side.
Leo glanced at Samus from head to toe and sneered, "This is a priceless auction, what are you doing here?"
"Do you have money?"
The Serpent Clan controls the mines and is one of the wealthiest races in the empire.
But Samus had long been expelled.
How dare a penniless person come to the auction with the princess?
Does he think he hasn't embarrassed himself enough?
Samus’s eyes gleamed coldly, but he curled his lips into a smile and said, “The princess needs me, so naturally I will stay by her side every step of the way.”
"Unlike you, who is persistent and annoying."
Leo: ...
He gripped the hilt of his sword, lowered his voice, and said angrily, "You talk as if the princess touched you."
Did she kiss you?
"Have we formed a real relationship?"
He watched as Samus's face darkened and laughed, "This is it? You dare say the princess needs you?"
If there are two dark clouds over their heads.
Leo's weather changed from overcast to partly cloudy and then to sunny.
For Samus, dark clouds loomed overhead, and lightning flashed and thunder roared.
He stared at the back of Shen Zhiyi's head, unable to stop thinking.
yes.
Why didn't she kiss him?
He dared not hope that she would relieve his desires.
Because when he faced her, those unfamiliar flames were too intense and terrifying, making it impossible for him to face them... He could only suppress them desperately.
But why, not even a single kiss...?
Samus lowered the darkness in his eyes, and his large hands hanging at his sides slowly tightened.
They took their seats at the auction.
Shen Zhiyi turned her head and met Samus's mournful gaze, raising an eyebrow.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing," Samus said sullenly, turning his head away.
Shen Zhiyi's brow twitched slightly, and just as she was about to say something, the announcement of the start of the auction came from the stage.
The first item up for auction was the Ice Feather Arrow that she had been longing for.
She glanced at Samus.
Snakes have excellent eyesight and concentration.
Especially for a black snake like him who is adept at concealing his presence, the most suitable weapon would probably be a bow and arrow.
Ice Feather Arrows are difficult for enemies to detect.
Attack power increases with ability, with no upper limit.
She wanted to photograph the ice arrow and give it to him as a gift.
That should make him happier, right?
Shen Zhiyi snapped out of her reverie and focused intently on the stage.
Samus lowered his eyelashes.
It was as if I could see my own snake tail, curled up into an unnoticed ball in the darkness.
Tiny, dark...
Verga sensed his low spirits, and the space trembled, bringing with it darkness.
He paused time and space.
In the darkness, where only Samus could see and hear, he asked, "My lord, are you worried about the auction?"
"There's no need to feel inferior!"
"The Serpent Clan's mineral veins depend on your bloodline for survival!"
"As long as you awaken your ancient bloodline, you can unlock the oldest inheritance, where the wealth is inexhaustible."
"At that time, wherever you are, that's where the mine will be."
"The wealth I am currently guarding for you, though not as much as the mine, is more than enough to buy the entire auction."
"Do you want it?" he asked, bowing. "I can fetch it for you."
Samus shook his head.
He was just a lowly serpent keeper; if he were to produce so many crystal coins now, it would surely arouse suspicion.
He didn't want to cause trouble for the princess.
I don't want to... lose her trust.
"I'm not interested in these things, you can leave."
Verga stepped down with regret.
The space was illuminated again, and Samus raised his eyelashes to look at the bustling auction hall.
Someone has already offered three million crystal coins for that Ice Feather Arrow.
"I'll offer five million!" Leo declared, raising his sign with an air of confidence and pride.
Five million?!
Everyone was astonished.
The colonel's offer of such a large price suggests he's determined to get his hands on this bow and arrow.
For a time, no one dared to fight anymore.
"Five million per time!"
Leo smiled and said to Chen Zhiyi, "Princess, this bow and arrow will be yours then..."
“I’ll offer ten million,” Shen Zhiyi said, raising her sign.
Leo's smile froze on his lips.
"Princess?"
He didn't understand; he had taken the picture of the bow and arrows intending to give them to her.
Why did she raise the price to bid against him?
Shen Zhiyi turned around and gave him a faint smile: "I'm sorry, what this princess has taken a fancy to, she doesn't need to be given to her by anyone."
"I will get it myself."
She glanced at Samus, who met her gaze and quickly looked down, as if something burning on her face.
She chuckled helplessly.
If she accepts Leo's offer and then sends the Ice Feather Arrow to Samus, who knows how furious he'll be.
