Shen Zhiyi found Duan Xingzhi again by the same river.
He sat with his legs bent under a tree by the river, his eyes cold and fixed on the river in the distance, his jawline taut, lost in thought.
The air pressure around him was frighteningly low.
"Why are you here again?" Shen Zhiyi approached softly, sat down beside him, and asked with a sidelong glance.
Duan Xingzhi did not turn around; his profile was frozen in the twilight.
His voice was cold and hard, like a pebble at the bottom of a river, as he said sullenly, "That sickly fellow, with such a weak body, probably won't live for more than a few years."
He is not worthy of her entrusting her life to.
"Huh?" Shen Zhiyi was stunned for a moment, then realized, "You mean Young Master Ling?"
"Won't."
She patted her chest confidently and said, "Don't you trust my medical skills? I will cure him, and living to be seventy or eighty years old is not a problem."
"Who knows, if you take good care of yourself, you might even live to be a hundred."
May you live a long and healthy life.
May you live to be a hundred years old.
Duan Xingzhi's face darkened as he recalled the wish she made for him under the ancient tree.
He picked up a pebble next to him and threw it into the water with a ruthless motion!
"Thump!"
A huge wave surged up on the river.
"Do you just like the sickly type?" He turned his head expressionlessly, his hawk-like eyes locking onto her. "Or do you prefer the refined and gentle gentleman type, and look down on someone like me who exudes murderous intent?"
So, after he recovered, she stopped paying so much attention to him.
That's why she cares about others.
Duan Xingzhi was deeply violent.
Shen Zhiyi was dumbfounded.
"What's going on?" she asked, confused.
Duan Xingzhi suddenly leaned forward, placing his hands on either side of her, trapping her between the tree trunk and his chest.
His gaze traced her face with a deep, melancholic intensity.
"Shen Zhiyi, do you still care whether I live or die?"
Shen Zhiyi instinctively shrank back, her back against the rough tree trunk. She turned her head away, as if unable to bear his gaze, and mumbled, "Of course I care..."
"If you die, I won't live either."
Duan Xingzhi stared at her parting red lips, reached out and pinched her chin, his warm fingertips carrying an irresistible force, turning her face and staring at her intently.
"Do you say things like that to everyone?"
His tall, imposing body pressed down, almost enveloping her.
He pressed his forehead against hers, lowered his eyelashes, and asked in a low, sorrowful voice, "Why can't you just care about me? Just look at me?"
"Are all those expressions of affection fake?"
"Ayi... I don't believe you have no feelings for me."
Shen Zhiyi was captivated by his hot breath and the almost broken, passionate, and mad look in his eyes. Her heart trembled, and she murmured involuntarily, "How could I not have feelings for you?"
"I feel what you feel, I feel what you feel, I... um!"
The unspoken words were sealed by a burning kiss.
Duan Xingzhi grabbed her waist with his big hand, almost kneeling in front of her, pressing her against the tree trunk, and kissing her tenderly.
His domineering tongue plunged in, prying open her lips and teeth, and plundered her deeply and savagely.
It was as if he was punishing her for those tender words she had spoken to him.
He seduce her.
Filled with intense jealousy and unease, yet yearning for a definite answer from her, he let his surging desire, like a sudden storm, fiercely engulf her.
Shen Zhiyi leaned against the tree trunk, feeling dizzy.
I don't know why he suddenly became so fierce.
She had no idea that a kiss without warning could make her so intoxicated and unable to resist.
She felt double the pleasure and thrill.
Every pore on my body was screaming and steaming.
That overwhelming yearning emanated from him, so intense that she couldn't resist it; even her fingertips clenched tightly, and she involuntarily gripped the blades of grass on the ground.
Duan Xingzhi released her lips.
His rough fingertips climbed up to the back of her neck, gently caressing it, and he said in a hoarse voice, "And now?"
"Are you going to say those things that misled me again?"
He lowered his head and kissed her lips again, his eyes darkening as he gently parted them amidst her moans.
"This is the price you pay for teasing and playing with me."
“I am not one of those mentally unstable men in the village, someone you can do whatever you want to me.”
He gripped the back of her neck, his thumb gently lifting her chin, forcing her to look up at him, his gaze sharp as a deep pool.
His voice, however, was low and hoarse, a deep, rasping sound that seemed to warn:
"Ayi, I will take revenge."
After saying that, he lowered his head and kissed her again.
"To retaliate like this."
Shen Zhiyi was so overwhelmed by the heat emanating from him that she lost her senses.
She pressed against his chest, and it took her a long time to end the kiss. She pressed her cheek against his and said softly, "I didn't tease you or flirt with you."
"I feel the same way you do."
"Empathy?" Duan Xingzhi's body suddenly stiffened.
He released her, putting a little distance between them, his eyes filled with astonishment and scrutiny. "What do you mean?"
Shen Zhiyi then told him all about her reactions over the past few days.
"So, you said those things and did those things not because you felt sorry for me, nor because you liked me, but because... you were in pain?" Duan Xingzhi murmured.
He seemed stunned.
He slowly straightened up, and the force restraining her gradually loosened.
The gentle twilight instantly froze like frost and snow, stirring up a cold storm in his heart.
Shen Zhiyi fanned her flushed cheeks and nodded, saying, "This should be a side effect of the Heart-Shattering Poison, but I've already thought of a way to detoxify it..."
Duan Xingzhi wouldn't listen to anything.
Fragments of his time with her flashed through his mind, and the wish she made under the ancient tree suddenly made him feel a sharp pain in his heart.
It turned out that it wasn't that she was in love with him, but that he had already unknowingly given his heart to her.
He succumbed to it all on his own.
He was just being delusional.
But she didn't love him at all... She didn't love him!
This thought was like poison, causing him excruciating pain.
Duan Xingzhi seemed to have all his strength suddenly drained away; the color drained from his face, leaving only a deep, bone-deep desolation.
He pressed his hand to his chest.
For the first time, I felt excruciating, agonizing pain coursing through my body.
Shen Zhiyi also shed tears.
"Waaaaah... Will you consummate our marriage?"
"What?"
Duan Xingzhi seemed to have been struck by lightning.
He blinked very slowly, almost doubting that he had misheard.
Say it again.
His mind was buzzing as he stared at her in disbelief.
“I said,” Shen Zhiyi grabbed his collar, her eyes glistening with tears as she looked up at him, and repeated, “Do you want to make love with me and spend the night together?”
Simply put, let's take a nap.
"Are you willing?"
