Shen Zhiyi's mouth and nose were covered by a large, warm hand.
In a dizzying moment, a fiery masculine aura descended upon her, trapping her between the soft blankets and the burning chest.
She looked up in alarm, only to meet a pair of incredibly bright eyes in the darkness.
"It's me," Duan Xingzhi said in a low voice.
"Hmm..." Shen Zhiyi twisted her body a couple of times and blinked.
Duan Xingzhi released his hand.
Her body did not move an inch, and she remained firmly trapped.
He looked at the girl with slightly disheveled hair beneath him, leaned down, and his hot breath brushed against her ear, carrying a strong sense of danger and aggression. He whispered, "In the dead of night, you trespass into a man's residence, and you're dressed so lightly."
"Ayi, a man and a woman alone together, do you know what might happen?"
Shen Zhiyi's cheeks flushed red.
Only then did we notice that his upper body was completely naked.
The moonlight streamed down, outlining his firm yet smooth muscle lines, exuding a sense of power.
He exuded an aura of wild and untamed desire.
Even the deepest darkness could not conceal it.
He looked like he had just taken a shower; his body was still damp.
Water droplets rolled down his strong chest, past the deep lines of his abdomen, and disappeared into the shadows below his waist.
Shen Zhiyi hurriedly looked away.
“Yan Nu, you…” Her voice was strained, with a slight panting that she herself didn’t even realize, “Why aren’t you wearing any clothes…”
Duan Xingzhi let out a very soft chuckle.
He lowered his head, his high, straight nose almost brushing against her cheek, his gaze calm and deep, yet burning with a hidden fire.
"Duan Xingzhi," he corrected, enunciating each word clearly, "Call me Duan Xingzhi."
Shen Zhiyi was suddenly jolted.
Her watery eyes widened as she gazed into his deep, pool-like eyes.
"You've regained your memories?"
"Hmm." He replied briefly, but his gaze remained fixed on her. "After leaving the valley, I remembered most of the things."
In the rushing water, he thought of the Assassins' Guild and his own name.
He found a contact.
After they learned of Qin Feng's death, they remembered everything.
However, I still can't remember what my last task was.
All I know is that if I want to break free and completely leave the Assassin's Guild, that mission is unavoidable.
"You left the valley?!" Shen Zhiyi was even more astonished. "How did you get out?"
“They swam out,” Duan Xingzhi said calmly.
Shen Zhiyi was greatly surprised.
The path was extremely treacherous, and the current was incredibly swift; without profound skill, it would be impossible to get out.
His martial arts skills were indeed far beyond her imagination.
No wonder she felt suffocated when she was sleeping.
It turns out he was holding his breath underwater.
"Since you were able to leave and regained your memories, why did you come back?" Shen Zhiyi looked at him nervously.
Duan Xingzhi stared at her with a dark expression.
My gaze followed the moonlight, slowly tracing her shimmering eyes, her slightly parted red lips, and the tiny, glistening pearly teeth within.
He could clearly hear his own heartbeat.
It was as if he could see a fiery thread extending from his heart, spreading across her body, frantically wrapping around and pulling her.
He moved his fingertips and said in a hoarse voice, "The poison from the Heart-Shattering Induced has not been cured."
"I can't go anywhere in this world, and I don't want to go anywhere."
"I can only stay by your side."
Shen Zhiyi breathed a sigh of relief.
Aside from sympathy, they showed no other symptoms of poisoning.
He was also willing to stay so he could conduct his own research.
It's clear they still value their lives.
But this is for the best. At least if she still can't solve the problem by the time the valley opens, he won't leave.
Duan Xingzhi looked down at her for a long time before helping her up.
"Look what I brought you."
He pulled a box from beside the bed, dragged it in front of her, and opened it.
Shen Zhiyi pulled her cloak tighter, looked down, and stared wide-eyed at what was inside.
Jewelry, accessories, clothing, ornaments...
All sorts of items, judging by their quality, are top-notch.
"Did you go rob someone?" She turned her head blankly and stared at him.
Duan Xingzhi chuckled softly.
He ruffled her hair. "I won't do things you don't like."
Shen Zhiyi felt inexplicably embarrassed.
"Then where did you get the money?" She picked up a string of pearl hairpins, the gemstones on them shining brightly even in the dark.
This shows how expensive it is.
"Earned it," Duan Xingzhi said casually.
Among the more expensive targets in the assassin's guild, he chose the most heinous one.
He knew she was kind-hearted and took pleasure in saving people.
If she earned the money by killing good people, she would probably feel uncomfortable using it.
He didn't want her to hate or distance herself from him because of this.
The bully's house was full of hidden weapons. In order to return before dawn, he took a pill specially developed by the Assassin's Hall before carrying out the mission, which could delay the pain.
He infiltrated the mansion and killed the bully with little effort.
Although she was hit by a hidden weapon when leaving the mansion, fortunately there were no external injuries, so it was not something to worry about.
He took his reward money and went to the best shops in the market, knocking on their doors and asking them to bring out their best items.
The shop owners were quite shocked.
How could a masked man in black wake them up in the middle of the night and threaten them with a knife, not to rob them, but to buy their most expensive items so they could make money?
Everyone was stunned.
I thought I hadn't woken up from my dream yet.
"Why did you buy all this stuff for me?" Shen Zhiyi asked, looking at the pile of things in the box.
Duan Xingzhi took the hairpin from her hand and helped her insert it into her hair.
