After recovering from her illness, Shen Zhiyi returned to the company. Before meeting Bo Xu, she mentally rehearsed the possible scenarios she might face a thousand times.
Will he fire her?
Or will he deliberately make things difficult for her at work because he's angry?
Shen Zhiyi didn't know.
She anxiously wondered how to explain this to him.
But Bo Xu didn't call her once all morning.
"Zhiyi, take this document to President Bo for his signature," Qin Luo said as he walked over.
“Okay.” Shen Zhiyi picked up the documents and knocked on the office door.
"Enter."
Bo Xu's cold voice rang out from inside.
Shen Zhiyi pushed open the door and entered. "President Bo, there is a document here that needs your signature."
Bo Xu didn't even look up.
He pointed to the empty space beside him with his finger bone.
He gestured for her to put it there.
Shen Zhiyi put down the document as instructed, her gaze inadvertently sweeping across the desktop.
A keen eye noticed—
The mimosa plant that had been placed next to him was gone.
She paused for a moment, slightly taken aback.
Bo Xu reached for the document, his gaze sweeping calmly across the pages, revealing no emotion whatsoever.
He pulled out his pen and neatly signed his name on the last page.
After signing, he pushed the document to her side and continued with his work.
He didn't even glance at her.
Shen Zhiyi secretly glanced at his profile.
He seemed to have regained the coldness he had when they first met, exuding an aura of unapproachability.
He didn't even spare her a second glance.
Shen Zhiyi breathed a sigh of relief.
It's good that it wasn't targeted at her.
Moreover, her double salary remained unchanged, and she wasn't penalized for taking leave!
"Then I won't bother you any longer."
She picked up the documents contentedly and tiptoed away.
Close the gate.
Bo Xu looked up from the documents, staring at the closed office door. His cold gaze fell, and the fingertips that were twisting the pages slowly tightened, leaving a deep crease.
He paused for a long time, then let go of his hand and slowly leaned back in his chair.
He closed his eyes and pinched the space between his eyebrows.
Shen Zhiyi returned to her workstation and heard her colleagues gossiping.
"Hey, don't you guys think President Bo is acting strange today?"
You noticed it too?
"President Bo used to only drink iced Americano and specifically requested the coffee shop downstairs, but today, in just one morning, he went to the break room three times!"
"What's even stranger is that on that one occasion, he came out with an empty cup!"
What exactly is in the break room?
Shen Zhiyi involuntarily glanced in the direction of the tea room.
She paused, picked up her thermos, and said, "I'll go get some water."
Colleagues continued to discuss it enthusiastically.
Shen Zhiyi walked into the tea room, looked around, but didn't see anything different.
After filling the water container, she glanced casually at the windowsill.
He was stunned.
On the table sat that potted mimosa plant...
On the tender leaves, there were still some glistening water droplets.
It looks like it has just been watered.
Shen Zhiyi paused for a moment, then, holding her water glass, walked back to her workstation with a troubled expression.
They happened to run into Qin Luo coming out of the reception room.
Shen Zhiyi glanced inside.
I saw a girl wearing a haute couture suit and sunglasses, sitting there somewhat awkwardly.
"Are you here to see President Bo?" she asked.
"Hmm." Qin Luo leaned closer and whispered, "It's Yao Dingqi's younger sister, Yao Yanshan. She said she came to invite President Bo to dinner on her brother's orders."
"I wonder what they're up to."
Shen Zhiyi glanced at the tightly closed office door but said nothing.
...
It was almost dark when I was leaving get off work.
Shen Zhiyi packed her things and walked out of the building.
Just as she was about to scan a bike to go home, a figure suddenly emerged from near the coffee shop and blocked her way.
"Assistant Shen, what a coincidence." Yao Dingqi smiled, but didn't budge an inch. "Since we've run into each other so often, how about we go to the Japanese restaurant up ahead for a meal?"
"Let's discuss the details of the plan."
He was very close.
The strong scent of perfume on her body made Shen Zhiyi frown.
She forced a professional smile, subtly took a step back, and politely declined, saying, "I'm sorry, Ms. Yao, but our company policy prohibits us from dining with clients privately."
"I will send the details of the plan to your assistant's email."
"I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now."
The smile on Yao Dingqi's face vanished.
A sinister glint flashed in his eyes, and he said with a forced smile, "So, Assistant Shen isn't going to give me that kind of face?"
"If your boss knew that you've offended such a big business partner of mine, what do you think he would do to you?"
"Assistant Shen probably doesn't want to lose her job right after being promoted, right?"
His tone was threatening.
He reached out his arm and was about to put his arm around her shoulder.
Just as Shen Zhiyi was about to step aside to avoid it, a blinding light suddenly shone on them.
Both of them instinctively stretched out their arms to cover their eyes.
Shen Zhiyi heard a short, sharp, and urgent sound of tires rubbing against the ground.
She moved her arm away and squinted.
They saw a black sedan cut in from them at an angle and stop steadily on the curb two or three meters away.
The engine roared.
Like a deep, roaring lion.
It exudes a strong sense of oppression.
Shen Zhiyi saw the driver's side door open, and a tall, cold figure stepped out.
Bo Xu strode towards her.
He wasn't wearing a suit jacket, just a crisp white shirt with the cuffs slightly rolled up and one button undone at his Adam's apple.
