Chapter 72

The next day, the morning sunlight, like golden threads, gently streamed into the room through the narrow gap in the curtains, waking Qi Na, who was still immersed in her dreams. She slowly opened her eyes, sleepily got out of the warm bed, and dragged her somewhat languid steps into the bathroom.

As she washed up, Qi Na was filled with anticipation. She eagerly checked the system task panel, but instead of the usual abundance of task information, it was a disappointingly blank page. A wave of confusion washed over Qi Na. Her brow furrowed slightly, and she anxiously asked the system in her mind, "What are today's tasks?"

With a ding, Qi Na's system logged in. "Sorry, host. The mission won't be released until tomorrow. I didn't carefully check the timeline and incorrectly provided you with the wrong information. I'm very sorry for that. Host, I'm going back to hibernation. Goodbye!"

Qi Na's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief. "What? No missions today?" She suddenly realized she'd been tricked by the system. She'd gotten up early to check what missions the system would issue, completely wasting her precious sleep.

With no assignments to complete, Qi Na's life returned to its usual tranquility. As usual, she carefully ate breakfast and then walked to school with her schoolbag on her back. Along the way, Qi Na's feelings were somewhat complicated. She felt relieved that there were no assignments to complete and no longer had to be tense and busy, but she also felt as if something was missing, and her heart felt empty.

In contrast to Qi Na's unchanging life, Wang Mo's day was filled with misfortune.

In the bright and spacious classroom of Class 1, Grade 5 at Elite Elementary School, Wang Mo, as always, lay asleep on her desk, as if nothing in the outside world concerned her.

Just then, the homeroom teacher walked into the classroom with light steps. Her voice was clear and loud, like a pleasant bell echoing in the classroom: "Students, the sports meet is about to begin. The events for the sports meet are on the blackboard. Our class will be performing a group dance this year. Everyone can think about which events you are good at and sign up enthusiastically."

After hearing the teacher's words, the students began to discuss it enthusiastically. Some students exclaimed excitedly, "Wow, tennis looks so interesting!" Their expectant eyes seemed to already see themselves sweating it out on the tennis court.

Some students hesitated, frowning as they asked, "Which one should I sign up for?" Their hearts were filled with entanglement and confusion. Others were equally undecided, muttering to themselves, "I don't know either." Still others suggested, "How about a group dance? It sounds like it would be a lot of fun." Their faces beamed with curiosity and anticipation for the group dance.

The homeroom teacher smiled and encouraged everyone: "Let's work together for the honor of our class." After saying that, she made a cheering gesture, and her determined eyes seemed to tell the students that as long as everyone worked together, they would definitely achieve good results in the sports meet.

The students responded in unison, "Yes!" However, Wang Mo's voice was not among the orderly responses; she remained immersed in her sleep, completely unaware of the commotion around her.

The homeroom teacher continued, "Everyone in our class must participate in the event. Registration begins now." The teacher's gaze swept over the entire class, her eyes filled with expectation and encouragement. She asked, "Who wants to participate in the 100-meter race?" Jianpeng first wiped his nose, then excitedly raised his hand immediately, shouting, "Me! Me!" His face was full of confidence and enthusiasm, as if he could already see himself speeding along the track.

The homeroom teacher wrote Jianpeng's name on the blackboard with chalk as she spoke: "Okay, 100 meters, Jianpeng." Then, the teacher asked, "800 meters?" Jianpeng shouted again and raised his hand, his enthusiasm undiminished, as if he had inexhaustible energy. The homeroom teacher continued writing Jianpeng's name. "Long jump?" the homeroom teacher asked again, and Jianpeng raised his hand once more.

This time, the homeroom teacher said to the whole class, "Jianpeng, you are the ace of our class, but one person can't participate in all the events. We also need to give other students a chance to shine." Jianpeng sat back down with some disappointment after hearing the teacher's words and said, "Ah, oh, that makes sense." A hint of helplessness appeared on his face, but he also understood that the teacher's words made sense.

After that, students signed up one after another. "Our class uniforms and posters for the sports meet have been decided." Wang Mo was woken up by the teacher's voice as soon as the homeroom teacher finished speaking.

She groggily got up, rubbed her eyes, and heard the chubby boy behind her say, "Wang Mo, good luck!" Wang Mo was completely confused by the chubby boy's words and immediately said, "What? What's wrong? These two activities have never had anything to do with me."

Sitting next to Wang Mo, Chen Sisi replied, "Who said that? This year is different." Wang Mo asked疑惑地问道, "How is it different?" The chubby boy behind her answered Wang Mo, pointing to the blackboard and saying, "See for yourself." Wang Mo followed suit...

Little Fatty pointed to the blackboard, where it read: "Poster Design Lead, Wang Mo." Wang Mo's mouth dropped open in surprise. "Ah, who wrote this? I've never drawn a poster before. Can I do it?" Little Fatty, standing behind her, told Wang Mo, "Sisi recommended you."

"What?" Wang Mo was shocked and furious upon hearing the news. She looked at Chen Sisi and said, "Class monitor, why did you write my name on it? I didn't even agree. What if I draw it badly and make a mistake? What if everyone laughs at me? Class monitor, are you deliberately trying to embarrass me?"
