The four-leaf clover on the skirt - a surprise for the older sister
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the sycamore leaves, casting dappled patterns on the asphalt road. Wen Zike wore a princess dress adorned with four-leaf clovers, the hem swaying gently with each step. Clover clung obediently to her shoulder, and her chestnut curls intertwined with her hair, prompting passing birds to perch on branches and chirp.
She ran all the way to her second sister Wen Lianyao's school, her little leather shoes clicking on the ground, the four-leaf clover mark on her wrist sparkling, hiding her heart full of joy. She hadn't told her second sister yet that she had become a Ye Luoli warrior, and she wanted to give her a big surprise.
By the fence at the school gate, Wen Lianyao was waiting for her, her schoolbag on her back, her hair neatly tied in a ponytail, and her school uniform collar tied with a clean bow tie. Seeing Xiao Keke's bouncy figure, she immediately smiled and went to greet her. Just as she was about to call her by her nickname, she was startled by the scene in front of her and her eyes widened slightly.
“Coco? Your dress…” Wen Lianyao squatted down, her fingertips gently brushing the four-leaf clover pattern on the hem of her dress, her eyes filled with amazement, “It’s so beautiful, like a little princess from a fairy tale.”
Little Coco tilted her head back proudly, carefully holding the clover from her shoulder into her palm: "Second sister, look! This is my doll. Her name is Clover, and she's a four-leaf clover fairy! I've made a contract with her, and I'm a Ye Luoli warrior now!"
Clover smiled at Wen Lianyao, her clear voice like a wind chime: "Hello, Wen Lianyao. From now on, Coco and I will protect her well, and we'll also look for our eldest sister together."
Wen Lianyao's gaze fell on Muxu, then on the contract mark on Xiao Keke's wrist, her eyes slightly warming. She reached out and hugged Xiao Keke, her voice incredibly gentle: "Our Keke is so great, she finally has a doll of her own."
She knew how much Coco envied the Ye Luoli warriors who had dolls to keep them company, and she also knew how much Coco missed her missing older sister, Wen Qian. Now that Coco had Clover, she would never be sad alone again.
“Second sister, the magic of alfalfa brings good luck,” Little Coco said softly, nuzzling her neck. “We’ll find eldest sister soon, won’t we?”
“Yes.” Wen Lianyao raised her hand and ruffled her hair, nodding with a smile. “With the luck of the four-leaf clover, we will definitely find it.”
She watched Coco and Clover chattering away, and seeing the undisguised smile on Coco's face, a warm feeling suddenly welled up inside her. She remembered that her doll wouldn't appear until episode 15; it was a doll with angel wings. Would the three sisters then be able to fight side-by-side?
As the sun gradually set, it cast long shadows of the two sisters. Little Coco held Wen Lianyao's hand, with alfalfa fluttering between them. The three of them slowly walked away in the afterglow, leaving behind a trail of soft laughter.
In the shadows of the trees not far away, Hu Lilian watched this scene coldly, her fingernails digging deeply into her palms. She had originally planned to take advantage of Coco's recent acquisition of magic to strike, but she hadn't expected Wen Lianyao to suddenly appear.
“Wen Lianyao…” she murmured, her eyes sinister, “Consider yourself lucky. But you won’t be so lucky next time.”
The wind swept up the fallen leaves on the ground, carrying a hint of coolness, scattering her words and also causing the four-leaf clover on Coco's skirt to sway gently in the twilight.
