Gao Taiming and Chen Sisi's agreement
As dusk settled over the city and neon lights began to twinkle, Chen Sisi sat at the piano, her fingertips gliding across the keys, producing a slightly melancholic melody. A blue peacock curled up on the plush carpet beside the piano bench, its eyelashes drooping and its beautiful tail feathers slightly bowed, clearly still worried about Mo Sha and Huang Shi.
"Sisi, why doesn't the piece you played sound happy at all?" Blue Peacock's voice was soft, tinged with a hint of confusion.
Chen Sisi's fingertips paused, and the piano music stopped abruptly. She turned around, looking out at the bustling street, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes: "I'm thinking about Gao Taiming, he and Bai Guangying... haven't been seen much lately."
As soon as he finished speaking, a soft sound came from the windowsill. Gao Taiming leaned against the window frame with one hand in his pocket, a carefree smile on his lips. Bai Guangying stood quietly beside him, her silver hair swaying gently in the evening breeze, surrounded by a faint mist of light.
"Just say you miss me, no need to beat around the bush." Gao Taiming raised an eyebrow, deftly vaulted into the house, and landed with a slight breeze.
Chen Sisi glared at him, annoyed, but her cheeks flushed slightly: "Who missed you! I was just... worried about you guys."
Bai Guangying walked to the blue peacock's side, gently touched her wing, and said in a gentle voice, "Don't worry about Mo Sha, the power of the desolate stone is not so easily defeated. We have been looking for a way to break the forced contract."
"Really?" Blue Peacock's eyes lit up, and Chen Sisi immediately stood up as well, her eyes full of anticipation.
Gao Taiming leaned against the piano, his fingertips tapping the lid casually. His smile faded slightly, but his tone was unusually serious: "Of course it's true. Chen Sisi's heart skipped a beat, and her hands, hanging at her sides, tightened slightly. It had been a long time since she had played the piano simply because she loved it, like she did when she was a child.
“Guangying and I have always pursued freedom.” Gao Taiming’s voice was not loud, but every word was clear. “But freedom is not a battle fought alone, and protecting your companions is not a responsibility of one person alone.” He stretched out his hand, palm up. “So Sisi, I make a promise with you—no matter how dangerous things are in the future, you are not allowed to bear them alone.”
“We are partners, Ye Luoli warriors who fight side by side. Behind you, there is me, there is Guangying, there are all our companions.” Bai Guangying also stepped forward and stood side by side with Gao Taiming, her eyes shining with a firm light. “This is our common promise.”
The blue peacock flew to Chen Sisi's side and nuzzled her cheek: "Sisi, say yes to them."
Looking at the two people in front of her, at the genuine sincerity in their eyes, Chen Sisi felt a lump in her throat and her eyes welled up with tears. She sniffed, gave a relieved smile, and reached out to hold Gao Taiming's hand. The moment their fingertips touched, it felt as if a warm current flowed between them.
"Okay, I promise you." Her voice was slightly choked, but incredibly firm. "We promise to fight side by side forever and never abandon each other."
A gentle evening breeze drifted through the window, stirring the sheet music on the table. The notes seemed to come alive, dancing softly in the room. Gao Taiming's smile returned, brighter than the neon lights outside: "That's more like it. Once we've dealt with the earthquake, I want to hear you play a truly joyful piece."
“No problem.” Chen Sisi nodded with a smile, turned around and sat down at the piano, took a deep breath, and her fingertips returned to the keys.
A cheerful and flowing melody poured out, like sunlight dancing in the forest, or a summer night breeze. Blue Peacock and White Light smiled at each other and hummed along softly. Gao Taiming leaned against the window, watching Chen Sisi's earnest profile, his smile deepening.
As night deepened outside the window, the music inside grew warmer than ever. This promise of companionship and protection was quietly carried away by the evening breeze, becoming the most precious vow in each other's hearts.
Unbeknownst to them, at the alleyway not far away, Xue Yaoxue's figure flashed by, her icy eyes reflecting the warm light shining through the window, her expression unreadable.
