Watery Guardian, the Heart's Favorite
At the edge of the fluorescent flower sea, shimmering waves sparkled. The moment the aquamarine figure broke through the barrier, Wang Mo instinctively tightened her grip on Luo Li's hand, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. The Water Prince's fingertips were veiled in a light mist; his gaze swept over the crowd, landing precisely on her, his usually cold features softening slightly.
"Why are you here?" Wang Mo's voice was slightly surprised, and her cheeks were a little flushed.
The Water Prince didn't answer, but slowly approached, his gaze sweeping over the grass clippings clinging to the hem of her clothes. He raised his hand and gently brushed them away. The movement was so natural, as if he had done it a thousand times before, and the slightly cool touch of his fingertips made Wang Mo's heart skip a beat. Jian Peng, standing to the side, whistled, only to be quietly tugged at by Chen Sisi.
"The Fairy Realm has been quite turbulent lately." The Water Prince's voice remained cool, yet it concealed a barely perceptible concern. "Stay close to me."
Before the words were finished, a whooshing sound suddenly came from afar, and several black vines burst forth from the ground, heading straight for the crowd. The Water Prince's eyes darkened, and a water barrier instantly rose around him, protecting Wang Mo behind him. The pale blue water surged and easily shredded the vines. He didn't even turn around, but precisely reached out and caught Wang Mo, who was about to fall.
"Are you alright?" His voice was very soft, only Wang Mo could hear it.
Wang Mo shook her head, gazing at his tall, straight back, a warm feeling welling up inside her. She recalled the holy water dew from their first meeting, the Water Crystal Palace in the Mirror Space, and his repeated selfless protection. Those unspoken feelings had long since transformed into the ultimate devotion expressed in his actions. She reached out and gently tugged at his sleeve, her voice firm: "I'm not someone who will just hide behind you; I will stand with you."
The Water Prince paused, turning his head to look at her, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes. It was a very subtle tenderness, unique to her, like a pebble thrown into a lake, rippling outwards. He didn't speak, but simply took her hand in his, the warmth of his palm passing through her fingertips, becoming the most reassuring support.
Clover nestled in Wen Zike's arms, its green eyes blinking gently. It could sense that the bond between this human and fairy was far deeper than it had imagined, and that this bond might become a vital force in the face of future crises.
Prince Minsk, hidden in the shadows, witnessed the entire scene. A flicker of disdain flashed in his icy blue eyes, quickly replaced by a cold, calculating glint. The Water Prince's protection was undeniably strong, but in the face of absolute self-interest, even the deepest bonds could become exploitable weaknesses.
"A favorite of the heart?" he murmured, his figure gradually disappearing into the shadow of the fluorescent flowers. "Soon, it will become a fatal weakness."
