The Dream of a Four-Leaf Clover
The afternoon sun streamed through the classroom windows, casting dappled patterns on the desks. Eight-year-old Wen Zike lay on the desk, arms crossed, her fingers unconsciously stroking the clover pendant at her collar. The edges of the pendant's leaves were slightly worn; it was woven by her second sister, Mu Qiuling (Wen Lianyao), from grass leaves picked from the roadside. Mu Qiuling always said that once she found her eldest sister, she would replace it with a real four-leaf clover pendant, to ensure that the three of them would never be separated.
But where did the eldest sister, Wenxi, go?
Little Coco's nose tingled slightly, and her big eyes welled up with tears. She only remembered that there had been another big argument at home that day, and her eldest sister had stormed out with red eyes, never to return. The Ye Luoli warriors would occasionally mention it to her, saying that Wen Qian had probably gone to find the Golden Prince, and that the Golden Prince must have thrown a tantrum and was hiding, waiting for someone to coax him. But Little Coco didn't understand why her eldest sister would go to find a fairy she didn't know, and why she wouldn't come back to see her.
"Coco, stop daydreaming, come play with us!"
A crisp sound rang out, and Jianpeng swung his arms as he ran over. Liangcai sat on his shoulder, her orange-yellow fur bouncing with each movement. Only those who had formed a contract could see her lively appearance. Liangcai waved her little hand, and a green halo rippled from her fingertips, landing on the potted plant outside the window. Several wilted leaves immediately unfurled.
"Liangcai's magic is still so powerful!" Mo Sha leaned closer, her tone tinged with envy, but a hint of melancholy lingered in her beautiful eyes. On days when Huangshi wasn't around, she always felt an emptiness in her heart. Zhen's power was strong, but that wasn't what she wanted—what she wanted was that big rock that could tolerate all her whims and protect her from harm.
"Sasha, what's wrong?" Zina noticed something was wrong with her. Fei Ling floated beside her, tarot cards gently turning between her fingertips. Fei Ling's gaze fell on Mo Sha, with a hint of worry. "Don't worry, Huang Shi will be alright."
“I know.” Mo Sha lowered her head and said softly, “I just…miss my dad a little. And that big rock, he used to protect me, now it’s my turn to protect him.”
She reached up and touched the small stone hidden in her pocket. It was a small, multicolored stone that Huang Shi had given her when he was still alive, and it was still slightly cool to the touch. "I'm just someone who lives under a beauty filter," she muttered to herself, "but the real Mo Qing also wants someone to care for her."
Chen Sisi patted her shoulder, and the blue peacock gracefully landed on her head, gently combing her curly hair: "Sasha is beautiful to begin with. Whether it's Mo Sha or Mo Qing, they are all unique." Shu Yan stood to the side, with Jasmine quietly nestled beside him. The faint light of time magic flowed quietly, as if soothing everyone's emotions.
Looking at the scene before her, Coco felt her hurt feelings lessen a little. She watched Luo Li sitting at the corner of Wang Mo's table, secretly passing her candy; she watched Blue Peacock and Bright Color bickering, arguing about whose magic was more powerful; she watched Fei Ling and Jasmine talking softly, their eyes gentle. She realized that having dolls around was truly heartwarming.
She looked down at her clover pendant and whispered a wish: "I wish I could have a doll, like a four-leaf clover, a doll that brings good luck."
These words were as light as a breeze, yet they were carried by the wind to the street corner outside the window.
Hu Lilian stood in the shadows of the trees, taking in everything. A cold smile curled at the corner of her lips as she toyed with something in her pocket, her eyes filled with malice. Wen Zike, don't worry, your "luck" will come soon. But that so-called luck is nothing more than a carefully woven trap.
As the sun set, Coco held Mu Qiuling's hand and headed home. Passing by the Ye Luoli doll shop, she couldn't help but stop. The dolls in the window seemed to be winking at her. Her gaze fell on a doll covered by a light veil, and she could vaguely see delicate four-leaf clover patterns embroidered on its skirt.
"Second sister, look at that doll..."
Mu Qiuling followed her gaze, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, but he quickly smiled and ruffled her hair: "When Coco grows up a little more, maybe she can have it."
Xiao Ke nodded vigorously, clutching the clover pendant on her chest.
Unbeknownst to her, the four-leaf clover doll hidden behind the veil was waiting to meet her; nor did she know that an adventure about protection and growth had quietly begun. Meanwhile, in the distance, Wenxi stood on a desolate fairyland, gazing at the back of the Golden Prince, her eyes red-rimmed, and whispered, "Tiexi, let's go home."
