Chapter 41 Leaping Over the Perilous Pass

Upon seeing Ning Yao, even the usually composed Lin Qingyu was somewhat dazed.

He had already seen her maids and servants, and they were all very pretty.

Unexpectedly, this master is even more beautiful, so beautiful that she seems unreal.

"No need to thank me. There's a reason I brought you along. Eat first, and I'll ask you something after you've eaten."

Lin Qingyu didn't hesitate, took the porridge from her sister, and finished it in a few bites.

"May I ask, young lady?"

Ning Yao didn't stand on ceremony: "I heard from Qing Lan that you once took her to live in the Kunlun Mountains for a period of time. We are going south, and I heard that the fastest way is through the Kunlun Mountains. I would like you to lead the way. Once we get to the south, you can stay or leave as you wish."

"If you stay, you will be a guest of the Ning family. If you leave, I will give you enough money for your journey."

Lin Qingyu was stunned: "Go to Kunlun Mountains, head south?"

"Exactly!"

“The Kunlun Mountains are high and the roads are dangerous, with wild animals roaming inside. Your horse-drawn carriages and horses are not suitable for traveling through the Kunlun Mountains.”

"You mean the only way to cross the Kunlun Mountains is on foot?"

Lin Qingyu nodded: "Going straight through the Kunlun Mountains can indeed get you south quickly, because once you cross the Kunlun Mountains and enter the Hexia Plain, even if you go to the farthest city, it will only take a month. However, the Kunlun Mountains are deep forests with almost no roads, so very few people can cross them."

"To traverse the Kunlun Mountains, one must abandon vehicles and horses and proceed on foot."

How long will it take to cross it?

"It can take anywhere from a month to twenty days, and we also have to make sure we don't encounter any danger."

Ning Yao thought for a long time. She could give up the vehicles and horses, since she could put them all into the secret realm and find a reason to take them out after passing Kunlun Ridge.

The problem is that crossing the Kunlun Mountains requires walking, which she can do, but others may not.

Are there any other routes south?

Lin Qingyu hesitated for a moment before saying, "There is, but that road is impassable now..."

Ning Yao's eyes lit up: "Let's see first!"

The next morning, the group arrived at the road Lin Qingyu had mentioned, which was actually a bridge spanning the abyss.

The original wooden bridge connected the two sides, but it has now collapsed.

"This place is a natural barrier. It is not wide, only about twenty meters wide, but the abyss below is bottomless. So these twenty meters have become a dividing line between the north and the south. The city lord of Songyang had a wooden bridge built to connect the two sides, and people guard it day and night to prevent accidents."

"Later, when the drought struck, everyone fled south. This bridge connecting the north and south became a lifeline. But how could a wooden bridge bear so many people? When it broke, no one repaired it. Many who didn't cross the bridge perished in the abyss. By the time I wanted to take Lan'er away, it was too late. That's when we went into the mountains to seek a way to survive."

While Lin Qingyu was speaking, Ning Yao had already surveyed the surrounding area.

Twenty meters wide was nothing to her; she could cross it with a display of her light-footed skills.

Getting everyone to go has become a problem; we need to find another way.

She pretended to take the rope off the car, but actually took out the Hundred-Chain Lock from the Spirit Artifact Pavilion.

The Hundred-Chain Lock is made of black iron, making it extremely hard.

The black iron is forged into thin sheets, rolled into hollow cylinders, and then pieced together section by section, making it highly flexible.

One end is equipped with a sharp eagle claw that can be launched and instantly pierce into rocks for a firm grip. The other end can be fastened to the waist. When the user presses the mechanism, the hundred-chain lock retracts, and the person being restrained can be launched away.

Because of its small and exquisite design, the entire chain lock is dozens of meters long, making it perfectly capable of crossing this formidable natural barrier.

Ning Yao swung the Hundred Chain Lock, making it grip the cliff behind her tightly. Then she activated the mechanism to lengthen the Hundred Chain Lock, used her lightness skill to leap across the abyss, and reached the other side.

Her series of actions stunned everyone.

"My sister flew over there! That's amazing!"

"Miss is amazing!"

Everyone's eyes were fixed on Ning Yao.

Seeing this, Ning Yao disassembled the hundred-chain lock in her hand, installed the eagle claw, and embedded it into the stone wall again.

The Hundred Chain Lock could be disassembled. Ning Yao broke it into two sections, made two ziplines, and used her lightness skill to fly back to the other side.

They took a sturdy wooden board and fixed it to the chain lock.

Madam Ning looked worried: "Yaoyao, you almost scared your mother to death!"

Ning Wenyi said proudly, "As expected of my daughter, she's amazing!"

Ning Yao smiled faintly: "I made a simple zipline and tied the wooden planks to it. As long as someone on the other side pulls me across, I can cross."

So, who wants to try first?

“Miss, this servant is here!” Zhilan said eagerly.

Ning Yao shook her head: "We need a man, men are stronger."

“Miss, let me do it!” Ning Lang volunteered.

“I can do that too,” Shen Ci’an said.

"Okay, you two get on the plank, I'll come and pull you out."

Ning Yao moved quickly, and Shen Ci'an and Ning Lang reached the other side.

The planks were pulled back, and people began to be transported.

Two people per trip, with Lin Qingyu and Lin Qinglan being the last ones to arrive.

The people have been transported, and the carriage has moved.

To calm the horses down, Ning Yao rode on one of them, and the two carriages and three horses quickly reached the other side.

"This was too dangerous! Let's leave quickly." Madam Ning felt a little scared when she thought about what had just happened.

That's such a deep abyss, if you fell in, you'd probably be smashed to pieces.

Ning Yao planned to travel alone into the Kunlun Mountains, and the legends about the sacred tree piqued her interest.

The colorful leaves Lin Qinglan gave her, and the spiritual energy within Zhao Xin's body.

All of this is enough to show that there are good things in the Kunlun Mountains!

Having made up her mind, Ning Yao said to Madam Ning, "Mother, you go first, I still have some things to take care of."

Upon hearing Ning Yao's words, everyone's expressions varied.

Madam Ning disagreed, saying, "Going south is the most important thing right now. What else do you want?"

Ning Yao looked at Ning Wenyi: "Father..."

Ning Wenyi immediately understood: "Madam, Yao Yao is doing important things, so let her go. Haven't you always wanted to know about the Ning family? Come on, I'll tell you in detail."

Madam Ning was indeed tricked and left.

"Uncle Shen, I'll have to trouble you to help me out a bit more," Ning Yao said politely.

Shen Wei waved his hand to indicate that he didn't care: "Can you manage on your own? If not, let An'er go with you. He's skilled in martial arts, and he can help you if anything happens."

Shen Ci'an watched Ning Yao expectantly from the side.

"Yaoyao, your second brother will go with you too!"

Ning Yao stopped him: "You're fine, but your parents still need you to take care of them, especially your second sister-in-law, who can't do without you now."

"Come here, I'll tell you a secret."

Ning Jin leaned over, half believing and half doubting.

The next second he jumped up in shock, but Ning Yao grabbed him and pressed him down: "Really...really?"

His excitement was palpable in his words.

Ning Yao smiled and nodded: "We'll tell them quietly later."

Ning Jin nodded haphazardly in agreement, then turned and went to the carriage.

"What's wrong with him?" Shen Wei asked curiously.
