Where to go
Despite Lin Yehuan's best efforts to decipher his lip movements, she gave up under the system's warning in her mind and the threat of the two mosaic-like images in front of her.
So annoying.
Lin Yehuan stopped looking at him, shook his head, and propped his head up with his hand, looking out the window.
There were also two patches of mosaic outside the window.
Lin Yehuan closed his eyes.
“Actually, I know everything,” Lu Xingzhi muttered to himself, “but I know nothing.”
"It's like being forcibly rebooted every day, selectively retaining some memories and then eliminating all spontaneous thinking."
"I will forget everything I'm saying tomorrow."
Lin Yehuan's mind was still racing, the alarm growing louder and louder. She knew he was still talking. After a moment's thought, she shook her head and nodded slightly.
Lu Xingzhi was looking forward to her reaction, but he had also roughly figured out what the situation was.
His memory is fading away at an unprecedented rate.
"Perhaps we shouldn't have left; we can have everything here."
"In some bizarre way."
"Perhaps we will never be able to leave here."
Lu Xingzhi's speech became intermittent, and the speed at which his self-awareness was being cleared was far faster than the speed at which he was expressing himself.
He started to get impatient, abandoning all logic and grammar and beginning to blurt out words.
He turned on his phone, but the recording only contained the sounds of children crying and trains running.
He took out paper and pen, and the writing on the paper caught fire, impossible to extinguish, and no flight attendant came to stop it.
The flames burned and soared before him, only to vanish the moment he reached out to meet them.
Lin Yehuan turned around when he heard the sound, but still didn't know what had happened.
The sharp sound in her mind subsided somewhat, and she knew that Lu Xingzhi was no longer speaking.
"It's too late. Some things are too late from the start." Lin Yehuan could roughly imagine what his expression would be, and once again instinctively turned his head to look out the window.
Looking at her determined back of the head, Lu Xingzhi didn't understand why she kept turning her head to the side, but for the sake of her cervical spine health, he still thoughtfully took out a U-shaped pillow to help her straighten her posture.
"Thank you." Lin Yehuan groped his way and slowly half-lay on the table.
The two trains met, and the green train, which had been swaying slowly forward, suddenly accelerated. Lin Yehuan felt as if his vision had been restored.
The equally empty train opposite her and the occasional bright glimpses of the scenery through the windows kept flashing by, faster and faster, until she was about to faint when the train rushed into the tunnel.
The change in light made the two of them squint instinctively, and in the darkness, they saw themselves.
But it wasn't just him. The moment Lu Xingzhi turned to confirm, the train had already arrived at the station, and the two of them were swept away by the crowd, completely bewildered.
A bustling crowd surged toward the bus stop to squeeze onto the last bus.
Lin Yehuan picked up his phone and glanced at it. It was already the winter solstice. No wonder he felt so refreshed all over.
"We... escaped?"
Lin Yehuan nodded.
"Then where do we go?"
Lin Yehuan shook his head and said with difficulty, "Could you please make an appointment with an ENT specialist for me first?"
