Chapter 61 Hug in the Ward

Chapter 61 Hug in the Ward

Qin Mu's eyes never left Gu Chuyue. He only slightly curled his lips when he heard the words, and said in a low but firm voice: "Yes, mine."

Outside the window, the thunder gradually faded away and the rain became lighter.

In the ward, the only sound was the mingling breathing of the two people.

After a while, there was a gentle knock on the ward door.

Xiao Jiangran walked over to open the door, only to see Qi Jinmo standing at the door wearing an expensive custom-made suit and a long coat.

He looked a little hurried, but still maintained his usual dignity and composure.

"You're finally here. I'll go see Xu Chi." Xiao Jiangran said hello and left. "One by one, two by two. Don't come to the hospital again after you recover from your injuries."

Qin Mu was a little embarrassed when he met Qi Jinmo, which was rare. "Why are you here?"

Qi Jinmo walked in, his eyes sweeping over Qin Mu lying on the hospital bed and Gu Chuyue sleeping beside him, his brows raised slightly: "With such a big commotion, I think it's hard for me not to know. I just finished taking care of some things and came to see if you were dead."

His tone was full of his usual teasing, but there was concern in his eyes. "It seems that everything is fine. You still have the time to coax the child here."

When Qin Mu was imprisoned before, Qi Jinmo had put a lot of obstacles in Gu Chuyue's way, which was why he was able to find the information so quickly.

Afterwards, Qi Jinmo had some matters to deal with in his own company, and Xiao Jiangran would tell him about the follow-up situation at any time.

"Just a little accident." Qin Mu said helplessly.

"A small accident?" Qi Jinmo chuckled and glanced at Gu Chuyue meaningfully. "This 'small accident' in your family is about to tear down the hospital rooftop. Do you need my help with anything?"

"Not for now, thanks." Qin Mu shook his head, "I have other plans."

Qi Jinmo followed his gaze and glanced at Gu Chuyue, who was curled up beside Qin Mu and clutching the corner of Qin Mu's clothes like a life-saving straw, and raised his eyebrows in understanding.

He didn't say anything else, but just raised his hand and elegantly adjusted the cuffs of his coat.

"Okay, as long as you know what's going on." He lowered his voice, with a unique, lazy tone, "If there's any trace that needs to be dealt with, it's at any time."

He had a hint in his mind, obviously referring to dealing with the mess left by Qin Shiyue.

Qin Mu nodded slightly: "I know, I won't be polite with you."

Qi Jinmo curled his lips into a smile, turned around and left, gently closing the ward door, isolating himself from the outside world.

The room fell silent again, leaving only the subtle sound of dripping liquid and the intertwining breathing of the two people.

Qin Mu was indeed tired. The blood loss and huge emotional fluctuations consumed a lot of his physical strength. He just stayed with Gu Chuyue like this and fell into a deep sleep unknowingly.

After an unknown amount of time, Qin Mu was awakened by the sound of rain outside the window and the dryness in his throat.

He suddenly opened his eyes and immediately looked down at Gu Chuyue in his arms.

Fortunately, the man was still sleeping, breathing evenly, but the hand holding the corner of his clothes was still tightly clenched, as if afraid that he would disappear if he let go.

Qin Mu carefully tried to pull out his arm to pour the water, but just as he moved, Gu Chuyue muttered uneasily in his sleep, and his brows furrowed even more tightly.

Qin Mu immediately didn't dare to move anymore and could only helplessly maintain his original posture.

At that moment, there was a gentle knock on the ward door. A nurse came in with a medicine tray and said softly, "Mr. Qin, it's time to change the dressing. Also... the man you brought to the next ward has woken up and keeps asking where you are."

Qin Mu then remembered the young man he had rescued from the basement.

He glanced at Gu Chuyue, who had finally fallen asleep, and whispered, "I'll go over and take a look. Please, keep an eye on him for a few minutes. If he wakes up, call me immediately."

The nurse nodded quickly.

Qin Mu very slowly and bit by bit pulled the corner of his clothes from Gu Chuyue's hand, and tucked the blanket in for him. Then he endured the dull pain in his abdomen, put on his coat, and followed the nurse out.

In the next ward, the young man was sitting on the bed, staring at his bandaged wrist in a daze.

His face was still transparently pale, with dark circles under his eyes and chapped lips, but compared to the dead silence and despair he had felt in the iron cage before, he finally had a hint of life in him.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, he looked up suddenly. The moment he saw Qin Mu, a complex light suddenly flashed in his eyes, a mixture of fear, gratitude and extreme dependence. He struggled as if to get out of bed.

"Stop." Qin Mu stopped him and stood at the end of the bed. "I'm too lazy to help you."

"...Brother." The young man didn't care about Qin Mu's attitude. He opened his mouth and said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you...for saving me."

The word "brother" made Qin Mu's heart skip a beat, and he inevitably thought of Gu Chuyue again.

He said distantly, "Just call me Mr. Qin. What's your name? Why are you... there?"

The young man seemed to have been touched by a switch. His body trembled slightly, and his eyes were filled with fear. "Okay, Mr. Qin, my name is Shen Qingyu."

He began to speak haltingly, his voice trembling with fear.

"I... I work at a bar. A few months ago, that woman... the one they call 'Sister Yue', came to see me and said I... said I looked like someone."

Shen Qingyu's pupils dilated with fear. "She took me to a place and locked me up. She said that I looked like him when I laughed and my voice sounded like him, but not completely..."

"When she's in a good mood, she'll dress me in nice clothes, let me eat with her, and look at her. But she won't let me really talk or be myself. If I'm even a little bit unlike 'him', she'll..."

Shen Qingyu suddenly hugged his arms, curled up into a ball, and the rest of his words were drowned out by suppressed sobs.

Qin Mu's face darkened.

He could almost imagine the scene—

Qin Shiyue looked at this face that was similar to Li Ke's when he was young, and fell into crazy obsession and unfulfilled resentment, and distortedly imposed both her love and hatred for Li Ke on this person.

"She...she sometimes looks at me and calls me a name, 'Ake'." Shen Qingyu raised her tearful eyes, "Mr. Qin, she is a lunatic! I'm not the only one she has that problem with! There were other men before...all...all looked a bit like me...but I seem to be the one who looks the most like me...so she locked me up the longest..."

His aunt is really hopelessly crazy.

He actually collected a bunch of substitutes, imprisoned them and tortured them to satisfy his morbid thoughts and desire for control.

"I understand." Qin Mu's voice was filled with a barely perceptible chill. "You're safe now. You won't see her again. Take good care of your injuries. Someone will help you arrange your future life."

Upon hearing this, Shen Qingyu's tears fell even harder, and she kept thanking him: "Thank you... Thank you, Mr. Qin. I will repay you!"

"No need." Qin Mu stood up and left.

He was still thinking about the insecure little wolf cub next door.

Sure enough, as soon as he gently pushed open the door of his ward, he was met with a pair of puppy eyes that were startled and instantly locked onto him.
