Chapter 208 Bad Luck

Chapter 208 Bad Luck

The thick night covered the earth with a layer of desolation. An ancient European castle stood on the wilderness, submerged in darkness.

"quack--"

Crows circled around the ancient building, and the faint lights struggled alone in the endless silence, trying to break through the darkness, but to no avail.

A cold wind blew through the corridors of the ancient castle, accompanied by the mournful howling of wolves in the distance, exuding a gloomy and weird atmosphere from inside to outside.

A series of steady and heavy footsteps sounded from the other end of the corridor, and in the moonlight, a tall figure strolled towards them from a distance.

Even though the man was tall, his white cloak almost dragged on the ground, giving off a sense of majesty and oppression.

He walked to the middle of the corridor and stopped in front of a pair of mahogany doors. He raised his hands and pushed open the pair of heavy mahogany doors.

The light inside the house was just as dim, with only a few candles flickering. The warm yellow star-like light could not dispel the gloomy atmosphere, but instead added a terrifying fire.

"What color is the wind..."

In front of the large obsidian table facing the door, waves of a man's leisurely humming could be heard from the chair with its back to the door.

The voice was calm and peaceful, like the wind blowing across the fields. It was clearly the voice of an adult male, but it had a subtle boyish air, which was completely out of place in this gloomy environment.

"You're actually still in the mood to sing."

The man was obviously not very satisfied with the person who was singing. He closed the door and walked straight into the house.

Upon hearing this unfriendly complaint, the singing came to an abrupt halt.

"After all, it's rare to see you in such a mess~"

The voice was filled with joy and sounded very real.

The man sat on the sofa in front of the obsidian table, took off the hat that showed his identity as a naval admiral, and threw it on the table, revealing his hard hair mixed with some gray.

"Rex, you're such a fucking bastard."

The man sitting in the chair was not unhappy at all when he heard this. He put down his crossed legs, turned the swivel chair half a circle, and faced the stone table.

"Lu, your words are still so vicious."

The man in the chair had a baby-like face, a well-proportioned body, and a fair complexion. His natural German advantages gave him a perfect bone structure. In his deep eye sockets, his pair of upturned, squinting eyes seemed to be smiling all the time.

People cannot see his eyes, just like they cannot see through his heart. What is hidden behind these eyes? Perhaps only by paying the price of one's life can one know a little bit.

The moment Lu Ao saw Rex, his resolute face immediately showed extreme displeasure, and he said with disgust: "Turn away, I don't want to see your face."

Rex raised his eyebrows, looking hurt, "You are so heartless."

Lu Ao really lowered his eyes and refused to look at Rex again, as if he was determined to make him turn back.

"Every time I look at your baby face, I don't want to admit that I'm working for you."

Rex raised his eyebrows in confusion and asked, "My face looks younger, isn't that good?"

Lu Ao raised his hand to remove the cloak from his shoulders and casually threw it towards the sofa next to him. "You are a grown man in your thirties, why do you want to appear young?"

Rex stood up from his chair, reached across the table, and touched the bandage on Lu Ao's head.

"You'll get scars."

"Get lost," Lu Ao raised his hand and knocked Rex's hand away, "you sissy."

Rex's eyes narrowed even more as he smiled. "I'm not a sissy. I just care about my image."

"Look at yourself again, you're covered in scars."

Lu Ao raised his head and looked at Rex.

As he tilted his head back, a horrible scar appeared, extending from the side of his ear to the corner of his jaw, along his neck and all the way to his collar.

The cold, hard and resolute middle-aged man had scars of varying degrees on his face, jaw corners, temples and forehead. With an eagle-like gaze, he looked like a demon from hell.

"If you don't like it, get out."

Lu Ao opened his mouth and angrily retorted to Rex.

"Okay, okay, let's change the subject," Rex pouted a little aggrievedly, "Why didn't you bring back our genius hacker?"

Lu Ao stood up and walked to Rex's desk. He opened the drawer on his left with ease and took out a cigar.

"Didn't you ask me to kill him? Why bring anything?"

Rex's eyes narrowed even further, "I mean, his body."

"He wasn't killed," Lu Ao said casually, putting the cigar in his mouth. Then, without even looking at Rex, he walked back to the sofa. "Oh, yes, Andes is dead."

Rex's expression remained unchanged upon hearing the news of his third deputy's death. He shrugged nonchalantly, "He's dead, so what? Do you need to report this to me?"

Lu Ao crossed his legs and buried himself in the sofa. He took out the cigar from his mouth with two fingers and nodded at Rex, "I'm reminding you to find someone to fill his vacant seat quickly."

"None of that matters," Rex said, walking around the desk, resting his hands on the table and leaning against it. "You still haven't told me how our little boy is doing?"

"Don't mention that unlucky bastard anymore."

Lu Ao closed his eyes, relaxed his body and leaned back, the smoke from the cigar in his mouth continuously exhaled with heavy sighs of disappointment.

"He was the only one who survived among the orphans we captured back then. I thought this child would be of great use in the future.

I didn't expect that not only was he trapped by a mere woman, but he also dared to turn against us and even risk his life for that kind-hearted old man.

The good dog I raised for so many years is now completely ruined. I should have slaughtered him as well."

Rex frowned helplessly when he heard Lu Ao's words. "Lu, your words are so vicious. Such a cute little boy, how can you call him a dog?"

Lu Ao put the cigar back into his mouth. His already deep middle-aged voice was tinged with displeasure, making people tremble a little: "Those who can be trapped by women and emotions are no different from animals."

Rex shook his head and looked at Lu Ao with his eyebrows drawn into a frown, "Lu, I really don't like your mouth."

Lu Ao raised his hand to knock off the remaining ash on the cigar and replied lightly: "You don't have to like it."

Rex stood up straight, crossed his arms and stood in front of Lu Ao, "But you didn't kill Loc. What if he really tells my lovely brother everything he knows?"

"That's your problem. It was you who insisted on using Barlow's hand to send Loc to that girl. The girl wasn't moved at all, but he got himself into trouble."

"and,"

Lu Ao rolled the unfinished cigar butt on the table, raised his half-closed eyes, and looked at the smiling man in front of him.

"You don't look worried at all."

Rex's smile widened when he heard Lu Ao's words, and his squinting eyes almost narrowed into slits. "You know, I was born with a smiling face."

Just as Lu Ao was about to open his mouth to refute something, he heard the door creak open.

He glanced sideways and saw a familiar figure slowly walking in from outside the door.

"Lu, long time no see."
