After entering the house, Gu Hongxi led them into the dining room. "You must be hungry on the way. Let's have dinner first."
Wang Boyang pulled the extremely reluctant Gu Yan down to sit.
Gu Yan's face was tense, and he seemed unwilling to communicate.
Wang Boyang's eyes scanned the surroundings. On the opposite wall hung a series of precious classical oil paintings, and the floor was paved with smooth marble, with black and white stripes interwoven to form elegant patterns.
The dining table is made of heavy solid wood, with exquisite patterns carved along its edges, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
Rows of carved high-backed chairs are placed on both sides of the dining table, with soft silk cushions that feel comfortable to the touch.
A huge fireplace sits in one corner of the restaurant, its roaring flames adding a warm and inviting atmosphere to the room.
Soon, the food was served. Gu Yan didn't want to eat; he just sat there blankly, staring ahead with a resentful look in his eyes.
Wang Boyang glanced at Gu Yan, then at the sumptuous meal on the table, and said, "I'm hungry, let's eat something."
Gu Yan snorted coldly: "You eat, I have no appetite."
Wang Boyang picked up his chopsticks and began to eat.
Gu Hongxi sat to the side, carefully observing Gu Yan's expression, hesitant to speak.
After a while, Wang Boyang looked up and said to Gu Yan, "This food tastes good, you should try it."
Gu Yan remained unmoved.
Gu Hongxi said softly, "Xiao Yan, even if Mom is sorry for you, don't hurt your health."
Gu Yan was slightly moved upon hearing this, but still stubbornly turned his head away.
Wang Boyang picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and carefully placed it near Gu Yan's mouth, continuing to persuade him, "Honey, no matter what, we need to eat first so we'll have the energy to solve the problem. It breaks my heart if you don't eat, and I don't want to eat either."
Gu Yan's expression darkened, and he slowly swallowed the food that Wang Boyang handed him.
"Darling, do you want me to keep feeding you or do you want to eat by yourself?" Wang Boyang looked at Gu Yan expectantly, his voice gentle.
Gu Yan didn't answer, but lowered his eyes slightly. After a while, he slowly picked up his chopsticks, his expression still somewhat indifferent, and casually put a few bites of food into his mouth.
The atmosphere at the dinner table remained somber; no one spoke, only the occasional soft clinking of cutlery.
But at least Gu Yan started eating, which relieved Gu Hongxi a little. She slowly loosened her tightly clenched hands, a look of relief appearing on her face.
After dinner, Gu Hongxi didn't dare to continue talking to Gu Yan. She knew that at least tonight would pass, and once Gu Yan's emotions stabilized, she could slowly find a way to get him to accept her as his mother.
Gu Hongxi said softly and cautiously, "It's late. You two should wash up quickly and go to bed. The rooms have been arranged."
Gu Yan didn't reply, but just sat there in silence.
However, that silence actually meant that he had agreed to stay.
After all, he couldn't let Wang Boyang follow him around late at night, running around in this unfamiliar place.
Wang Boyang quickly said, "Thank you, Auntie." He had a polite smile on his face.
Gu Hongxi looked at Wang Boyang cautiously, her eyes filled with a hint of inquiry and unease. After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Will you be staying in one room or two?"
Wang Boyang looked at Gu Yan, unsure how to respond.
Gu Yan replied without hesitation, "We'll share a room, a bed, and a blanket. I can't sleep without holding him." His tone was deliberately provocative, and his eyes were fixed on Gu Hongxi.
Gu Hongxi's face darkened again, her lips trembled slightly, and she wanted to say something but swallowed it back.
Seeing that Gu Hongxi was angry again, Gu Yan felt even more smug.
He's like a childish child sulking with his mother, doing the opposite of everything in an attempt to get more attention and love from her, even in extreme ways.
Gu Hongxi suppressed the surging emotions in her heart. Her chest heaved violently. Even though she was a thousand times unwilling for a boy to touch her son, she could not overturn the table at this moment.
She has already lost too much time with her son and cannot afford to make things worse through impulsiveness.
The maid led Gu Yan and Wang Boyang into the room and then left.
Only Gu Yan and Wang Boyang remained in the room, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward because of the acting they had just done.
"Thank you for cooperating with me just now."
"Should I wash first or you wash first?"
The two spoke almost simultaneously, their voices overlapping in the air, making the atmosphere even more awkward.
Wang Boyang blushed slightly, as if he was a little taken aback by this sudden coincidence. "It's nothing. Acting in this kind of play is quite fun." He scratched his head, trying to ease his discomfort.
Gu Yan avoided Wang Boyang's gaze, remained silent for two seconds, and then said, "I'll go wash up first."
Then he went straight to the bathroom.
Wang Boyang then sat on the edge of the bed and began to look around the room.
The room was exquisitely decorated, with soft carpets, vintage furniture, and large floor-to-ceiling windows.
It felt like a dream. In the six months following the end of summer vacation, he had only seen Gu Yan a handful of times, but in the last few days, he had spent so much time alone with Gu Yan.
Just then, Gu Yan's somewhat anxious voice came from the bathroom: "Wang Boyang, can you get me my pajamas? I forgot to bring them."
Wang Boyang responded, got up, picked up his suitcase to Gu Yan, found his pajamas, walked to the bathroom door, and gently knocked on the door.
"Come in, the door's unlocked," Gu Yan said.
Wang Boyang pushed open the door and saw that the bathroom was filled with steam. Gu Yan was standing under the showerhead, water droplets sliding down his fair and muscular body.
Wang Boyang didn't dare to look directly at her, handed over the pajamas, and said, "Here you go."
Gu Yan turned around and took the pajamas.
Wang Boyang didn't dare to look, his eyes darting around as he stared at the ceiling.
After Gu Yan took the clothes, Wang Boyang blushed and left the bathroom, closed the door, and returned to bed, his heart pounding.
A brief silence fell over the room, broken only by the soft rustling of the wind outside the window.
A short while later, Gu Yan came out after taking a shower, his hair still dripping wet.
"Go wash it off," Gu Yan said.
Wang Boyang responded and went into the bathroom.
When Wang Boyang finished washing up and came out, he found Gu Yan already lying on the bed, his face turned to the side with his eyes closed, and he didn't know if Gu Yan was asleep.
Wang Boyang quietly walked to the other side of the bed and lay down.
He lay down next to Gu Yan, his body tense, not daring to breathe.
The faint scent of Gu Yan wafted from beside him, making Wang Boyang's heart pound even faster. The image of Gu Yan taking a bath involuntarily flashed through his mind, a scene etched into his very being, impossible to shake off.
Wang Boyang secretly took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but the more he did so, the stronger the tension and palpitations in his heart became.
He could feel his cheeks burning and his ears burning hot. His body was also changing.
He tried hard to suppress it, afraid that Gu Yan would discover his despicable and shameless thoughts.
