“Isn’t that Zhang Yuwen? He’s your friend, after all,” Li Peiyu tried to reason with him.
“Even friends can’t steal my wife away. Xiao Fan’s trick was too underhanded.” Lu Yuzhi’s words were full of resentment towards Xiao Fan.
"I promise I'll be home as soon as possible, okay?" Li Peiyu's voice carried a hint of coquetry.
"That's more like it," Lu Yuzhi replied with satisfaction.
"Yes, you're the best girl," Li Peiyu said sweetly.
"I'll arrange for Zhang Yuwen to come here. You stay downstairs and keep watch. As soon as he shows up, have those two bodyguards put him in the car and take him away," Lu Yuzhi quickly explained the plan.
"Alright, you cunning old fox," Li Peiyu replied cheerfully, feeling much more at ease.
Li Peiyu hung up the phone, then hurriedly entrusted the company's affairs to Sister Fei, chose a company van, and drove off in a hurry towards the Lu Group building.
Because the windows of the nanny van make it impossible to see inside from the outside, no one would know that Zhang Yuwen was hiding in the van, making it a perfect cover.
Li Peiyu waited patiently for an hour and a half, and finally, as expected, she saw Zhang Yuwen's car slowly approaching.
In the blink of an eye, Li Peiyu's two bodyguards acted swiftly, forcing Zhang Yuwen's car to stop.
Zhang Yuwen was bewildered by this sudden situation and angrily got out of the car, about to start cursing.
Before he could even react, two burly bodyguards grabbed him by the arms and tossed him into Li Peiyu's van like a chick.
Zhang Yuwen had never suffered such humiliation before, and he cursed, "What are you doing? Is this kidnapping? Is there no law anymore?!"
Sitting in the driver's seat, Li Peiyu quickly locked the car door, then turned to look at Zhang Yuwen with a mischievous smile, and said playfully, "Hello, Uncle Wen."
"Li Peiyu? What on earth is going on?" Zhang Yuwen stared wide-eyed, his face full of anger and confusion.
"Oh, Yuzhi asked me to pick you up for dinner at the manor." Li Peiyu didn't even blink, casually making up a story. He secretly thought to himself, "I'll just have to keep him entertained for now. Once we're on the highway, it won't be easy to get off."
Zhang Yuwen was skeptical, and frowned as he said, "I can walk by myself, why would you have someone tie me up?"
"Isn't it exciting, Uncle Wen?" Li Peiyu blinked, looking mischievous.
Zhang Yuwen wasn't stupid. He guessed that they were probably taking him to see Xiao Fan, but Xiao Fan was far away and couldn't possibly return to S City.
Unexpectedly, as Li Peiyu was driving, he made a turn and ended up on the highway.
Zhang Yuwen immediately realized something was wrong and anxiously called out, "Peiyu, where are you taking me?"
"Let's get on the highway," Li Peiyu replied simply.
"Of course I know it's a highway, but where exactly are we going?" Zhang Yuwen's voice rose a few decibels, his expression growing increasingly anxious.
"Guess?" Li Peiyu deliberately kept everyone in suspense.
"Are you crazy? The place where Xiao Fan is recording is too far from here; it would take two days to drive there," Zhang Yuwen said, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"Yeah, it's been so hard for me," Li Peiyu sighed.
"Next highway exit, get off the highway." Zhang Yuwen practically shouted it out.
"That won't do. I promised Brother Fan that he would die if he didn't see you." Li Peiyu's attitude was firm, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.
"What a joke, who can't live without whom?" Zhang Yuwen sneered, his face full of disdain.
Li Peiyu glanced at Zhang Yuwen and said, "Uncle Wen, Brother Fan really can't live without you. He's been on the verge of a breakdown lately."
Zhang Yuwen turned his head away, "We'll break up sooner or later. This time it's over, and we can both live our own lives peacefully from now on."
Li Peiyu continued to persuade him, "Uncle Wen, please stop being stubborn. Brother Fan has come all the way to me just to see you. Please take pity on him. If you want to break up, you should say it face to face."
Zhang Yuwen was silent for a moment, but still said, "I'm doing this for his own good. The two of us together are a time bomb, and sooner or later it will blow him to pieces."
Li Peiyu softened her tone: "Uncle Wen, you and Brother Fan have such a good relationship, can you really just let it go like that?"
Zhang Yuwen bit his lip and remained silent.
How could he let go? Xiao Fan was his lifeblood.
Seeing that it was having some effect, Li Peiyu said again, "Uncle Wen, even if you don't want to reconcile now, at least meet once, talk things out, and give each other an explanation. What do you think?"
"Peiyu, once I see him, we're bound to be inseparable. I know him too well. He's so persistent."
When Xiao Fan first set his sights on him, he consistently refused. A top-tier singer wanting to be gay with a man—wasn't that ruining his career? But he couldn't resist Xiao Fan's relentless pursuit, and finally, unable to resist, he agreed to give it a try.
She originally planned to break up with Xiao Fan as soon as he got tired of her and the novelty wore off, but to her surprise, seven years have passed and Xiao Fan still hasn't gotten tired of her.
He never imagined that Xiao Fan, with his flirtatious demeanor, could be so devoted to love.
Zhang Yuwen pulled himself out of his thoughts and said firmly, "Peiyu, I cannot see him." His eyes were resolute, as if he had already made up his mind.
Li Peiyu was at a loss, caught in a dilemma. But if she didn't bring Zhang Yuwen along, how could she face Xiao Fan in the future? Wouldn't she be seen as a person who broke her promise?
"How about this, let's flip a coin and leave it to fate." Li Peiyu came up with this idea in a hurry, her eyes full of expectation, hoping that Zhang Yuwen would agree.
"No." Zhang Yuwen refused without hesitation, his voice firm and his attitude unyielding, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Uncle Wen, if you want to love, you have to be brave. Love can overcome all difficulties. Of course, if you think that if you give up this one, you can meet someone better and love more in the future, then just pretend I didn't say anything. Let's go back at the next highway exit," Li Peiyu said urgently, her eyes fixed on Zhang Yuwen, trying to persuade him.
“There’s no one better than him in the world. How could I love someone else after he loved me? I don’t want to ruin his career.” Zhang Yuwen’s voice trembled slightly, his eyes filled with pain and helplessness.
“If Brother Fan is really boycotted because of this, he can come to my company if he’s willing. My company may not look so great right now, but it has a bright future. Jiang Shuchen, who’s recently become a sensation, is from our company.” Li Peiyu said earnestly, trying her best to show Zhang Yuwen the potential of her company.
“I’ve heard about your company. But there’s really no need to sign with someone who’s past their prime. Business is about profit, not personal relationships.” Zhang Yuwen shook his head slightly, his expression serious.
“Then let’s talk about interests. Fan Ge is such a big star. If he hadn’t fallen on hard times, he would never have ended up in my territory. I’m lucky to have signed Fan Ge. Once the hype dies down, I can do some public relations and change the wind. Fan Ge can take off again.” Li Peiyu became more and more excited as he spoke, as if he could already see a bright future.
