In the afternoon, Li Peiyu dragged her tired body to the company, looking as if all her energy had been drained, and sat listlessly in the office chair.
Looking at the pile of tasks on the table, she sighed deeply and couldn't help but admire her. She was truly a great woman, taking good care of her husband while also managing her career. If she had a child, she would be busy 24 hours a day. Damn it.
I really want to go home and be a caged bird, where I don't have to worry about anything and can just enjoy a leisurely life.
Just then, Wang Boyang came in and said, "Everyone said they want to have dinner together tonight."
Li Peiyu held her forehead, looking like she wanted to cry but couldn't. "Can you please let me go?"
"If you don't want to go, then don't go. Why make it sound so miserable?" Wang Boyang said nonchalantly.
"Wang Boyang, you're right not to date. You absolutely mustn't," Li Peiyu said irritably.
Wang Boyang pulled up a chair and sat down, asking with a curious look, "What's wrong?"
"I'm so tired, I feel like my body has been hollowed out," Li Peiyu replied weakly, her voice full of exhaustion.
"Haha..." Wang Boyang laughed so hard he almost cried.
"What are you laughing at?" Li Peiyu glared at him.
"Mr. Li, just a reminder that school has started and you still have your thesis to write."
Damn it, I don't need to live anymore, I might as well jump off a building.
Li Peiyu held her head in her hands, looking utterly hopeless.
"You don't need to complain about being too tired. You're thriving in love, career, and studies. It's a happy kind of tiredness," Wang Boyang comforted her with a smile.
"Too much happiness can also be tiring," Li Peiyu said, pursing her lips.
"It's like Versailles," Wang Boyang joked.
"Anyway, don't date. If someone confesses their feelings to you, just slap them twice in the buttocks," Li Peiyu said angrily.
"Go to the lounge and get some sleep," Wang Boyang said.
"Okay." Li Peiyu responded and got up to walk towards the lounge.
In the evening, Wang Boyang took his company employees out for dinner at a restaurant.
The restaurant was bustling with activity, as everyone sat around a large round table, their laughter and chatter filling the air. The soft, warm lighting illuminated everyone's faces.
Wang Boyang stood up, raised his glass, and said with a smile, "Thank you all for your hard work during this time. Let's drink to that!" Everyone responded, and the clinking of glasses was crisp and pleasant.
One dish after another was served, their aroma filling the air. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food while chatting animatedly. Some shared anecdotes from their work, while others exchanged stories of their daily lives.
Several female colleagues surrounded Wang Boyang, their faces beaming with infatuation.
One of the girls asked, "Mr. Wang, do you have a girlfriend?"
"Your CEO, Mr. Li, just warned me this afternoon not to date," Wang Boyang said with a helpless smile.
"Why?" the girls asked in unison.
"My body can't take it," Wang Boyang said half-jokingly.
Everyone smiled and chuckled for a while, their laughter echoing through the restaurant.
The girl then asked, "Mr. Wang, do you have someone you like?"
Wang Boyang paused for a second, a thought flashing through his mind, but he quickly recovered and said, "No. Long live being single."
The girls weren't going to let him off the hook, bombarding him with questions one after another.
Wang Boyang was a little overwhelmed by the girls' barrage of questions, so he made an excuse and said, "I need to go to the restroom."
After using the restroom, Wang Boyang slowly walked to the end of the corridor, leaned against the cold wall, slid down slightly, and took out a cigarette from his pocket.
He lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.
Amidst the swirling smoke, his expression appeared somewhat forlorn. His lips were tightly pressed together, as he struggled to suppress the turmoil within him.
"Brother Yang." Wang Boyang heard someone call him and looked over in the direction of the voice.
It's Song Yang.
Of course, there's also Gu Yan, and two of his roommates.
The moment his eyes met Gu Yan's, a burning passion flashed in Wang Boyang's eyes, a fire burning in his heart. But he quickly suppressed this emotion, and the passion in his eyes vanished.
Then he threw the cigarette butt into the trash can.
"Song Yang. Long time no see. Are you here for dinner?" Wang Boyang tried his best to make his voice sound calm and natural.
"Yeah, let's get together, guys." Song Yang replied with a smile.
Wang Boyang nodded, but his eyes unconsciously tried to avoid Gu Yan's gaze.
"Yang-ge, you should come too," Song Yang invited warmly.
"No, I'm leading a team-building activity with my company employees, so I won't be going," Wang Boyang waved his hand.
Song Yang said, "Then are there many older sisters?"
"yes."
"Then I'll come find you in a bit, Yang-ge." Song Yang said excitedly.
"Okay, in that private room at Shuiyunjian."
"Okay, Yang-ge, see you in a bit."
Throughout the entire process, Wang Boyang never dared to look at Gu Yan again, not even for a second.
Even a single glance at it pierces my heart.
It's all his fault for confessing his feelings so impulsively; now we can't even be friends anymore. We can't even look at each other or exchange a word.
Back in the private room, Wang Boyang's face was gloomy and his mood was extremely bad. He silently picked up his wine glass and gulped down one glass of wine after another.
In another private room, Song Yang casually ordered a few dishes and said, "Eat quickly, then go find your sister."
Feng Tao and Chu Weiping quickly echoed, "My brother Yang is so lucky! He has so many older sisters around him, he must be so happy."
Song Yang continued, "After graduation, I don't plan to look for a job. I'll just wholeheartedly follow my brother Yang. I'll find a beautiful older sister to get close to."
"You're a finance major, do you think they'll hire you?" someone questioned. "Of course they will. Entertainment companies are ultimately businesses."
The group chatted casually, and before they knew it, all the dishes were served.
The brothers devoured the food like hungry wolves, finishing it off in no time.
Song Yang wiped his mouth and said, "Brother Gu, let's go find my sister."
Gu Yan said, "You may go."
"I forgot, my brother Gu has no shortage of women. Let's go."
After Song Yang and the others left, the private room fell silent. Gu Yan sat there, his brows slightly furrowed, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
He sighed softly, leaned back, and fell into deep thought.
Memories of being with Wang Boyang and their time together in Y country flashed through my mind.
The current stalemate with Wang Boyang left him feeling incredibly frustrated and depressed. That stifling feeling was like a heavy stone weighing on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.
He couldn't help but feel indignant, cursing inwardly, "Damn Wang Boyang, why did he have to develop feelings for me that went beyond friendship? If it weren't for this incident, they would definitely be very good friends, just like him and Song Yang, able to eat together without restraint, play around to their hearts' content, and joke around with each other without the slightest bit of resentment or worry."
That would be so nice.
