Gu Yan said, "I'm hungry, make me some noodles."
"Okay," Wang Boyang replied, then turned and walked into the kitchen.
Song Yujie quickly added, "I want some too, Yang-ge." He then sat down next to Gu Yan and enthusiastically invited, "Want to play a game together?"
"I'm not playing anymore. I've played several rounds, and now I feel a bit nauseous." Gu Yan emphasized the word "nauseous."
Song Yujie glanced around casually, then suddenly noticed a pink dress on the table. He walked over, picked it up, and exclaimed in surprise, "Isn't this my dress? Yang-ge, you washed it for me?"
Wang Boyang's voice drifted from the kitchen: "Dry cleaned."
A moment later, Wang Boyang came out of the kitchen carrying two steaming bowls of noodles, his face showing impatience. "Eat up, my ancestors."
Gu Yan and Song Yujie got up and sat down at the dining table, engrossed in their meal. Wang Boyang sat in a row with Gu Yan, leaning back lazily in his chairs, utterly exhausted, yet occasionally stealing glances at Gu Yan's profile and the stray hairs falling around his ears, a flutter in his heart.
The soft slurping sound of Song Yujie's noodles reached Gu Yan's ears, and a wave of bitterness welled up in Gu Yan's heart, bringing tears to his eyes. Wang Boyang was so gentle to others; it pained him unbearably.
After finishing his noodles, Song Yujie put down his chopsticks, which made a crisp sound as they touched the bowl. "Brother Yang, I'll sleep in the same room as last time. I'm going to take a shower first."
Wang Boyang said, "I'll wash your bowl."
"Okay. I'll wash it myself."
Gu Yan put down his chopsticks; there was still more than half a bowl of noodles left in his bowl. He said with a gloomy expression, "I'm full. I'll go back now."
"Mm," Wang Boyang replied simply.
Gu Yan stood up, pulled out a chair, and rushed out the door. Just as he reached the elevator, Wang Boyang caught up with him.
Wang Boyang grabbed Gu Yan's arm. "Gu Yan, what's wrong? Is something the matter? You seem a bit off."
"I'm fine." Gu Yan's voice was low, with a hint of stubbornness.
Wang Boyang said in a deep voice, "If there's something wrong, just say it. Don't make me worry."
He had just clearly seen what looked like tears in Gu Yan's eyes.
"I'm fine, I'm perfectly fine. But what about you, what's your relationship with Song Yujie?"
"An artist from my company."
"Do you bosses often bring artists home to sleep?"
“He’s just a good-for-nothing,” Wang Boyang said, realizing halfway through his sentence what Gu Yan meant by “sleeping,” “Who I sleep with doesn’t affect our brotherhood, does it?”
"Of course it won't affect anything. Go to sleep now and don't keep them waiting."
"It's okay, he's just annoying. The more I ignore him, the more he gets into trouble."
Snap
A loud slap landed on Wang Boyang's face.
Wang Boyang stared blankly at Gu Yan for a moment, suppressing the urge to pounce on him, "Gu Yan, your actions will make me misunderstand."
Gu Yan clenched his fist; the slap had been too forceful, and a sharp pain shot through his palm.
If his hands hurt, then Wang Boyang's face must hurt even more.
Gu Yan immediately lost his nerve, didn't dare to offer any comfort, and turned and ran away.
Wang Boyang sighed deeply at the dark sky. In Gu Yan's heart, there was something about him, but it was something that couldn't be brought into the light.
Wang Boyang returned upstairs, exhausted both physically and mentally. He didn't even bother to take a shower. After entering the room, he collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
Around 3 a.m., a sudden, urgent cell phone ringing woke Wang Boyang from his sleep.
Wang Boyang groggily picked up his phone, and when he saw that it was Gu Yan calling, he was instantly wide awake.
He swiped the screen urgently to answer the call, his voice filled with concern: "Gu Yan, what's wrong?"
However, there was no response on the other end of the phone.
"Speak, Gu Yan, speak." Wang Boyang's heart jumped into his throat.
"I'm downstairs at your place." Finally, Gu Yan's deep voice came from the other end of the phone.
Wang Boyang felt a sudden rush of light in his head, and he froze completely. He then hurriedly said, "I'm coming down right away." After saying that, he grabbed a coat and put it on, then rushed downstairs.
The moment Wang Boyang saw Gu Yan, he felt his heart leap into his throat.
Gu Yan stood there all alone, his figure appearing particularly forlorn under the dim streetlights.
Wang Boyang rushed over and, without hesitation, took off his coat and draped it over Gu Yan. "It's chilly at night," he said gently, his voice filled with concern.
Gu Yan's eyes were bloodshot, like a wounded wild beast. He gripped Wang Boyang's collar tightly, staring intently at him, and asked in a trembling voice, "Did you sleep with him?"
"No. I have nothing to do with him, don't overthink it," Wang Boyang explained gently.
"Did you kiss him?" Gu Yan pressed on relentlessly.
“No.” Wang Boyang sighed helplessly, then continued, “Gu Yan, I know you have feelings for me, but you can’t accept these feelings. I won’t force you. I won’t go looking for someone else, or deliberately provoke or pressure you. I will wait until you have someone else in your heart before I turn away.”
Gu Yan slowly loosened his grip on his collar, and his emotions gradually calmed down.
"Gu Yan, let's go back, it's chilly at night," Wang Boyang said softly.
"You won't fall in love with someone else?" Gu Yan looked up, his eyes filled with unease and anticipation.
"No. I'll love someone else after you get married. I can't expect you to still be thinking about me after you're married."
Hearing this promise, Gu Yan felt much more at ease, and his previously tense body relaxed.
"Let's go, I'll take you home."
"I don't like you bringing other people home, male or female. I don't like other people sleeping in my bed, and I don't like you cooking for other people." Gu Yan blurted out his true feelings.
"I understand, I won't do these things again." Wang Boyang's face showed barely suppressed pain. Gu Yan loved him, but Gu Yan didn't want to love him.
Gu Yan looked at Wang Boyang incredulously, "You, are you really that great?"
"I don't want you to get hurt." Wang Boyang's eyes were filled with helplessness and deep affection.
"Do you love me that much?"
"I'll take you home."
"Answer my question."
"Can you leave me a way out?"
If you don't want to love him, why make him say "I love you" again and again?
Gu Yan didn't press the matter further and let Wang Boyang take him home.
As they walked, Gu Yan suddenly said, "After I graduate, I will go back to Y country with Gu Hongxi."
Wang Boyang was taken aback. He quickly calculated that graduation was only a few months away. He forced a relaxed expression and said, "Yeah, that's good. I'll find a pretty girl in Y country and forget all the mess here."
Gu Yan's voice was somewhat low, "You don't need to wait until I get married. When I arrive in Y country, you can find a girl too."
"Hmm." Wang Boyang simply responded, but his heart felt as if a huge stone was pressing down on it, so heavy that he could hardly breathe.
