Chapter 186 Showing Oneself

On this morning, sunlight streamed gently into the room through the gaps in the curtains.

Li Peiyu, however, remained immersed in a sweet dream until the sun was high in the sky before finally waking up.

She stretched lazily, a rare sense of leisure welling up inside her. Today, she had a whole morning of free time, with no busy tasks waiting for her to handle.

After washing up, Li Peiyu leisurely ate breakfast. Then, she went to the courtyard and sat with Grandpa Lu, each occupying a rocking chair and quietly basking in the sunlight.

A gentle breeze brings a touch of coolness, making people feel very comfortable.

Just then, Lu Antai suddenly appeared in the courtyard. "Peiyu." His voice broke the silence of the courtyard.

Li Peiyu opened her eyes upon hearing the sound, and when she saw that it was Lu Antai, she immediately sat up straight.

"Big brother."

"Peiyu, I'm so glad to finally see you. I've come several times, but you've never been home." A relieved smile appeared on Lu Antai's face.

"Big brother, is there something you need?" Li Peiyu asked curiously.

"Yes, it's about Minzhi and Minhui's schooling. I want to send them both abroad, but Yuzhi won't agree. So I'm asking you to act as a mediator and see if the grudges of our previous generation can be kept from affecting the next generation." Lu Antai's eyes were full of expectation.

“Lu Yuzhi has his own reasons for making decisions, and I have no right to interfere.” Li Peiyu frowned slightly, her tone full of difficulty. The hurt Lu Yuzhi suffered from Lu Antai and his mother could not be easily erased. She understood and respected that Lu Yuzhi wanted to seek revenge for the rest of his life, including the next generation.

“But you’ve already registered your marriage,” Lu Antai said somewhat anxiously.

“Even as his wife, I shouldn’t interfere with his decision. Besides, Minzhi and Minhui don’t necessarily have to go abroad to succeed. On the contrary, it’s much more chaotic abroad than in China, and it’s more harmful than beneficial for girls,” Li Peiyu analyzed calmly.

“But without a good education, it’s always…” Lu Antai hesitated.

“Brother, ability is much more important than academic qualifications,” Li Peiyu interrupted Lu Antai.

"Since you're unwilling to help, then pretend I didn't say anything." A hint of disappointment appeared on Lu Antai's face.

Li Peiyu said sincerely, "Brother, I will definitely help if it is something I can do, but I don't want to interfere with Lu Yuzhi's matter."

Lu Antai nodded helplessly and turned to leave.

The courtyard returned to tranquility, and Li Peiyu lay back down in the rocking chair, closing her eyes.

Less than half an hour later, Li Peiyu's phone suddenly rang.

Li Peiyu's heart tightened, a sense of unease welling up inside her; she feared something bad was about to happen. She picked up her phone and saw it was a call from the manager of the boy band UN.

Li Peiyu frowned slightly, wondering what had happened. She took a deep breath and then answered the phone.

"Mr. Li, the production team has added a segment at the last minute, which is to find guest performers to help garner votes." The agent's voice came from the other end of the phone, with a hint of anxiety in his tone.

"Let's find Jiang Shuchen," Li Peiyu said without hesitation.

"He's preparing for his concert and can't afford to be distracted," his manager explained helplessly.

"Do you have a suitable candidate in mind? How about Xiao Fan?" Li Peiyu continued to suggest.

"Well, the boys discussed it and felt that asking senior figures in the industry to campaign for votes was unoriginal. They wanted to ask you."

"Huh? I'm not a celebrity," Li Peiyu said in surprise.

“But you’re Xiao Fan’s rumored girlfriend, a hot topic. Your presence would definitely make the show stand out,” the agent tried to persuade Li Peiyu.

"I don't want to, I don't want to show my face in public."

"Boss, please, please." The boy band members' synchronized voices came from the other end of the phone.

They pleaded with Li Peiyu for a long time, saying all sorts of nice things.

Li Peiyu listened to their request and felt somewhat hesitant. She knew that the members had put in a lot of effort for the show and were eager to succeed, and as their boss, how could she not lend a helping hand?

"Okay, but I'm sure my singing and dancing skills can't compare to the professionals. Don't cry if you lose the competition."

"As long as you come, we're guaranteed to win."

After hanging up the phone, Li Peiyu was still somewhat conflicted, but the thought of the expectant looks in the boy band members' eyes made her decide to stop hesitating. She quickly got up, packed her luggage, and did so swiftly and efficiently.

She then went straight to the production team without stopping.

On her way there, Li Peiyu realized she hadn't told Lu Yuzhi about it yet. She quickly dialed Lu Yuzhi's number, and his familiar voice soon came through the phone.

Li Peiyu took a deep breath and then slowly said, "Yuzhi, I have something to tell you. The manager of the UN boy group just called me. The production team added a segment at the last minute, and they want me to perform as a guest to garner votes. I agreed, and I'm on my way to the production team now. It'll be two days of rehearsal plus the performance, so it should be done in three days."

Lu Yuzhi was very unhappy when he heard that she would be away from home for several days again. His voice was clearly filled with displeasure: "What do you mean by that? Are you going to dance for a million people?"

"Mmm," Li Peiyu replied softly.

"Do you know your status now? The wife of the president of the Lu Group, oh no, the wife of the chairman, your husband has been promoted now. Is it appropriate for you to go dancing?" Lu Yuzhi's tone was tinged with reproach.

“They don’t know we’re married,” Li Peiyu tried to explain.

"You're not allowed to go." Lu Yuzhi's attitude was very firm.

But Li Peiyu had already promised the boy band members, and she couldn't go back on her word. She didn't want to argue with Lu Yuzhi anymore, so she gently said "I love you" and decisively hung up the phone.

Upon arriving at the recording site, Li Peiyu was immediately enveloped by a tense and busy atmosphere.

When the boy band members saw her, their eyes were filled with excitement and anticipation. They quickly threw themselves into rehearsals, each person giving their all, striving to perfect every movement and every note.

During the two days of rehearsals, Li Peiyu and the boy band members worked together to improve their chemistry. They sweated together and strived for a common goal.

Finally, the official recording began. The program was being broadcast live, and everyone backstage was on edge, their hearts pounding with nervousness. Li Peiyu took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

The moment they stepped onto the stage, the bright lights shone down, and the cheers from the audience surged like waves. The boy band members were all in high spirits, and Li Peiyu also displayed a confident demeanor.

As the music began, they burst onto the stage like burning flames. Their synchronized dance moves and energetic singing instantly ignited the atmosphere in the entire venue.

Li Peiyu's performance was particularly impressive; her seamless teamwork with the boy band members made it seem as if they had collaborated countless times before. The audience was captivated by their brilliant performance and cheered them on enthusiastically.
