Chapter 26 It Turns Out It Was Just Appendicitis

Just when Li Peiyu was in despair and helplessness, the door was slowly opened, and Lu Yuzhi's tall and upright figure appeared before her, his eyes full of anxiety and concern.

He shone like a ray of light.

"What's wrong with you?" Lu Yu asked anxiously again.

With a great effort, Li Peiyu managed to open her mouth slightly and say in a barely audible voice, "Lu Yuzhi, is that you?"

Looking at her weak appearance, Lu Yuzhi felt both heartache and anxiety. He frowned and said with exasperation, "Instead of asking if it was me, you should answer me first where it hurts."

Lu Yu called the hospital director, his tone full of hostility: "Send an ambulance to the Baixing Hotel, third floor, and get there within ten minutes. If you're even a minute late, you can forget about being the director."

The ambulance arrived at the hotel quickly. The paramedics rushed to Li Peiyu's room at top speed. Before they left, the hospital director had specifically instructed them that this patient's status was special, and they had only ten minutes; if they were even a minute late, they would lose their jobs.

So, the paramedics in the ambulance on the road were secretly wondering if the patient was a high-ranking official in S City.

Upon arriving at the destination, they discovered it was a young girl, whom President Lu was holding tightly in his arms. Only then did they realize that she wasn't some high-ranking official at all, but rather President Lu's woman.

Li Peiyu was quickly lifted into the ambulance, and Lu Yuzhi followed closely behind, getting into the vehicle as well. Lu Yuzhi's expression was focused, his gaze fixed on Li Peiyu's face. From her faint expression, he could tell whether she was in more pain.

Li Peiyu held Lu Yuzhi's hand tightly and opened her mouth as if she had something to say.

Lu Yuzhi hurriedly leaned closer to hear Li Peiyu calmly say, "I'm about to die. I'm very grateful that you appeared in the last few days of my life. I'm happy and have no regrets about dying."

Lu Yuzhi's eyes immediately turned red, as if they were about to burst into flames. "Don't talk nonsense."

“I’m not talking nonsense. I have cancer, and the doctor said I don’t have many days left to live.” Li Peiyu’s voice was tinged with helplessness and sorrow.

"You're lying." Lu Yuzhi's voice was stern, but his eyes were already full of tears.

"I have one last wish before I die, which is, which is..." Li Peiyu was too tired to speak.

"What is it? Tell me."

"Never mind, I should be content." Li Peiyu shook her head gently, a hint of melancholy in her eyes.

"Tell me, and I'll definitely agree." Lu Yuzhi held her hand tightly, feeling very scared.

"I want to kiss you before I die." Li Peiyu's voice was very soft, as if a gentle breeze could dissipate it.

Lu Yuzhi was stunned, and for a moment he suspected she was lying.

"If I could kiss you, I wouldn't be so afraid of death. After people die, they are buried underground, cold and dark..."

Before Li Peiyu could finish speaking, Lu Yuzhi suddenly kissed her. Lu Yuzhi's kiss was urgent and passionate, filled with deep affection and reluctance; he poured all his emotions into this kiss.

Li Peiyu was in so much pain that she couldn't respond.

Lu Yuzhi's expression was filled with indescribable pain, a pain that seemed to be tearing his soul apart.

Large tears streamed down his face like a burst dam, wetting Li Peiyu's pale cheeks.

But he dared not stop the kiss, fearing that if he did, Li Peiyu would die right before his eyes.

It was as if only by embracing and kissing so tightly could they grasp that faint glimmer of hope.

With trembling hands, Lu Yuzhi slowly and carefully placed his hand on Li Peiyu's pulse, feeling the faint beat. As long as her pulse was still beating, it meant she was still alive, and each beat brought him a sense of comfort and relief.

Lu Yuzhi cried out in his heart, "Li Peiyu, please don't die, I beg you."

The paramedics sitting in the ambulance watched this heartbreaking scene of life and death, their eyes gradually reddening, and one by one they couldn't help but shed tears of emotion.

One of the paramedics murmured, “What a touching love story. Why is God so cruel? Why can’t lovers be together in the end? It’s so unfair. They clearly love each other so much, yet they have to suffer such a cruel fate.”

The others echoed their sentiments, their hearts deeply pierced by the scene before them. They felt sympathy and pity for the lovers' plight, as if they themselves were caught in this whirlpool of sorrow, experiencing the helplessness and pain.

A deep sense of sorrow permeated the entire ambulance, a lament and indignation at the cruel destruction of a beautiful love.

Ten minutes later, the ambulance drove into the hospital, not at the main entrance, but directly into the emergency room.

After all, the person in the car was the wife of Mr. Lu, the general manager of their hospital group.

In the emergency room, the hospital's most renowned doctors all put down their work because they had been notified that a prominent figure was coming to the emergency room, and they couldn't afford to make a mistake.

The car door opened, and Lu Yu reluctantly released Li Peiyu, taking a slight step back. Medical staff quickly wheeled Li Peiyu into the emergency room.

A pain-relieving injection was first inserted into the flesh.

Li Peiyu screamed in pain, and Lu Yuzhi felt heartbroken.

Judging from Lu Yuzhi's distressed expression, the doctors present were well aware of the relationship between President Lu and the girl.

Then the doctors surrounded Li Peiyu and examined her using the four diagnostic methods of traditional Chinese medicine, and after a series of tests, they came to a conclusion.
